India end Day Three at 342 for five (115 overs), 230 runs adrift of the Australian first innings score. The visitors piled on 271 runs at the loss of just four wickets during the day. 

Kohli is unbeaten on 140 and Saha on 14, the two having added exactly 50 runs for the sixth wicket.

A single by Kohli, off Watson, helps India get to the 300-run mark, in the 104th over. 

The Indian captain has now surpassed Rahul Dravid's record for the most runs (623) in a Border - Gavaskar series.

A single by Kohli, off Lyon, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. It has come in just 66 balls. 

Watson replaces Lyon (29-7-83-1) in the attack in the 100th over. He strikes with his fourth ball, having Rahane (13) out leg before. 

Rahane helped his captain add 54 for the fourth wicket but his innings has been cut short here.

Suresh Raina walks in to play a Test innings again. He is caught behind off the first ball. Raina's Test woes continue.

Three boundaries by Kohli, in Harris' 20th over - the 88th of the innings - helps India get to the 250-run mark. 

The Indian captain is all set for the fourth century of the series, like his Australia counterpart. A boundary to third man, off Starc, takes him to 90.

Hazlewood replaces Starc (18-3-66-2) in the 93rd over. Kohli hits a boundary to move further close. 

A couple off Hazlewood helps Kohli to his fourth hundred of the series, his 10th over, and fifth in Australia.

Welcome back to the third session. Harris to bowl. Its a maiden.

Starc to bowl the second over. He strikes with his final ball, ending Rahul's (110) innings, taking the catch himself.

Rahul's 262-ball knock was inclusive of 13 hits to the fence and one over it and he helped his captain add 141 runs for the third wicket. 

Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in. Kohli eases the pressure with a couple of boundaries off Harris.

The second new ball is available now and has been taken. Starc to bowl. It costs Australia 11 runs. 

Ryan Harris to bowl the second over. Three off it.

Kohli (on 59) is lucky again as his Australian counterpart puts him down at econd slip, Starc being the unfortunate bowler. It is Smith's second blemish of the day. He has contributed immensely to India's fortunes.

A boundary past gully off Starc helps Rahul to his maiden Test hundred. A well deserved one indeed. He has been fortunate but he has made it count and that is what matters.

India go into the tea break comfortably placed at 234 for two (85 overs).

Rahul is unbeaten on 106 and Kohli on 67, the two having added 137 runs so far for the third wicket.

It's been India's session, with the visitors scoring 112 runs without losing a wicket.

A big six over deep midwicket, off Lyon, takes Rahul into the 90s. A single off Watson takes Kohli to 49 and helps India get to the 200-run mark, in the 79th over. 

A single off Lyon helps Kohli complete his 11th Test fifty, his fourth against Australia. 

He has been in blistering form in this series.

Smith replaces Lyon (21-6-58-1) in the attack in the 68th over. Rahul welcomes him with a boundary wide of deep square. 

It's a twin bowling change, Hazlewood replacing Harris (16-4-33-0). Kohli welcomes him with a terrific boundary past cover.

Lyon comes back in the 74th over, replacing Smith (3-0-12-0).

The early overs of the second session done away with and Australia is yet to find a breakthrough. However, their bowlers have tied down the Indian batsmen, like they did throughout the morning session.

A boundary by Kohli, off Lyon, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the third wicket. Another boundary in the over gets India past the 150-run mark.

Kohli helps himself to a couple off boundaries off Starc. Watson replaces Starc (12-3-32-1) in the 51st over. It's a maiden. 

Rahul (on 46) is lucky as Smith puts him down off Watson, the skipper suggesting the spider cam wire changed the course of the ball. 

The batsman responds with a boundary off Lyon, the shot helping him reach his maiden Test fifty. 

India reach 122 for two at lunch (55 overs) on the third morning, having scored just 51 runs (in 30 overs) in the opening session.

Rahul is unbeaten on 50 and Kohli on 16.

However, all of Rohit Sharma's (53) hard work comes to a nought thanks to a pre-determined sweep off Lyon crashes onto his stumps. 

The pressure that the Australian bowlers applied on the third morning told and India lose their second wicket. Rohit's 133-ball knock was inclusive of five boundaries and two sixes and he helped Rahul add 97 runs for the opening wicket. 

Virat Kohli is the new man in. He begins with a boundary, the shot helping India get past the 100-run mark and the player get past the 500-run mark in the series.

India have managed to add just 19 runs (in 15 overs) to their overnight total during the first hour of the day's play. 

Harris is back after the drinks break, replacing Hazlewood (8-4-22-0) in the 41st over. He gives away a couple.

Nathan Lyon on for the first time, replacing Watson (4-2-6-0) in the 42nd over. It's a maiden to start. Rahul (on 41) survives an appeal as umpire Kettleborough is unmoved. Replays show a faint edge.

Australia effect the first bowling change in the day's eighth over, Josh Hazlewood replacing Starc (9-3-22-1). It's a maiden from him. 

Twin bowling change, Shane Watson replaces Harris (11-2-24-0) in the 34th over. It's a maiden again.

The Australians have bowled a tight line here. India has managed just 13 runs in the first 10 overs of the day.

Good morning and welcome to the third day's play of the fourth and final Test between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground. 

The first over of the day, by Ryan Harris, is a maiden. However, the first boundary of the day comes in the day's second over, by Mitchell Starc, off KL Rahul's blade. 

The two Indian batsmen survive the early period with ease.
