14:40   Finn takes 5 as England humiliate India at Gabba
ENGLAND WIN BY 9 WICKETS!!!

England 154-1 (27.3 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Patel comes back after just one over from part-timer Raina. Taylor also eases to his half-century from 58 balls with a single on the leg side before Patel bowls a leg side wide to Bell.

Shami attempts a short ball to Bell who pulls it on the leg side for one and Taylor does the same two balls later for another run as four runs come from the over.

Taylor paddles Patel fine on the leg side for a couple to take England to one of the easiest victories in recent times.

England cruise to 156 for one in 27.3 overs to win by nine wickets with 22.3 overs to spare for a deserved bonus point.

A huge wake up call for World champions India, who need to improve in all departments if they are to successfully defend their title.

India's next match is against Australia in Melbourne on January 26 and they need to win by a big margin to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
14:16   Bell hits fifty as England close in on victory vs India
 England 145-1 (25 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Yadav struggling to control his line and ends up bowling on both sides of the wicket. Taylor gets two runs on the leg side before he drives the next through the off-side for the same result. Another over-pitched delivery is hit through the covers by Bell for three before Taylor steers it fine for two to get 10 runs from the over. Yadav has again struggled with the ball to give away 42 runs in six overs.

Bell steers Patel past the first slip fielder for a boundary to bring up the 100-run partnership for the second wicket as England close-in on a thumping victory.

Yadav is taken off after another poor spell and he makes way for Shami. Even he starts with a bouncer which Taylor pulls for a single on the leg side but Bell decides against taking on the slower bouncer which is ruled a wide for height.

Bell then drives an over-pitched delivery through the covers for three runs followed by two more singles to make it seven from the over.

Part-time off-spinner Suresh Raina comes into the attack as even India are now hoping for it to end soon.

England collect four singles from the first five balls before Bell cuts the last ball behind point for three runs.

At the halfway stage, England are cruising on 145 for one in 25 overs with another nine runs needed for victory.

13:56
 England 113-1 (20 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Taylor mistimes the pull shot against Yadav but it falls safely on the leg side for three runs. Bell then takes two runs to complete his half-century from as many deliveries and then drives the last ball down the ground to get three runs.

England preferring to play Patel on merit without any unnecessary risks as they collect two easy singles in the 18th over. He has bowled four tight overs for just nine runs.

Taylor getting into the groove as he drills Yadav through the gap in the covers for a boundary and then takes a single to bring up England's 100, in the 19th over.

Bell in complete control as he played a calculated lofted shot off Patel, landing wide of long-off for a couple. The next ball is short and this time Bell pulls it confidently over midwicket for a boundary.

Patel drops it short as Bell rocks back and cuts it behind point for another boundary as England look keen to finish it off in a hurry. The last ball is again short but Bell can't Rahane at point, who makes a good diving stop.

After 20 overs, England have reached 111 for one in 20 overs, with another 43 needed from 20 overs for a bonus point. At the same stage, India were 69 for four in 20 overs having lost their top order.

Bell has stroked his way to 65 from 64 balls, while Taylor has made 36 from 45 balls with the duo adding 86 runs for the second wicket at a fair clip.

13:40
 England 81-1 (15 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

A long first spell for Binny as Dhoni seems to be resting his frontline pace bowling trio. Binny bowls a poor delivery down the leg side as Taylor helps it round the corner through fine leg for a boundary to continue the flow of runs.

Patel has a confident shout for LBW against Taylor turned down as the right-hander went back and was struck in the crease but the ball seemed to be missing the leg stump. Another good over from the young spinner.

Binny, who took one for 34 in seven overs, is finally taken off and makes way for Yadav.

A quick short delivery which strikes Bell on the shoulder as just three runs come from the over.

After 15 overs England have reached 81 for one, needing 73 from 35 overs for victory with nine wickets in hand.

Bell is looking comfortable on 46 from 45 balls, while Taylor has made 25 from 34 balls.
13:27
 England 70-1 (12 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Binny continues as India look to have given up hope to salvaging something from this match and look to be going through the motions.

Taylor picks up an easy single from the 11th over before birthday boy Axar Patel is called into the attack.

He was dismissed for a duck with the bat, his second in succession, and must be hoping for a good showing with the ball. The left-arm spinner makes a good start, giving away two runs in his first over.
13:22   England off to a flying start after India fold for 153
 England 67-1 (10 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Bhuvneshwar from the other end and it remains to be seen if he gets some swing. Taylor pulls the second ball through the leg side for a couple to bring up England's 50, in the eight over. He then makes room and slaps one through the off-side for two more runs as England continue from where they left off before the break.

He then cuts a short ball which bounces over the point fielder for another couple but the next shot which is cut powerfully along the ground is well stopped by a diving Rahane at point.

England are 54 for one in eight overs with exactly 100 needed from 42 overs for victory.

Unlike England's pace bowlers, both Binny and Bhuvneshwar have not been able to make any sort of impression with the new ball.

Binny bowls it a bit wide and Bell is happy to crash it through the covers for a four followed by a single to race to 39.

Mohammed Shami comes into the attack, to bowl the 10th over of the innings. Bell takes a single from the second ball before Taylor pulls a short ball through midwicket for a four. The last ball is driven straight to mid-on but the fielder is unable to stop it cleanly and ends up giving away three runs.

England have raced to 67 for one in 10 overs with Bell on 40 from 30 balls and Taylor on 17 from 19 balls.
13:07
 England 48-1 (7 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

The action resumes after the lunch break and England would be hoping to complete the formalities soon and finish the match with a bonus point.

Binny to resume proceedings after the break. Taylor takes a single from the second ball before Bell hits the fourth ball through the covers for a boundary. And overthrow off the last ball gets Bell another couple of runs.
12:28   England off to a good start after India fold for 153
LUNCH BREAK

 England 41-1 (6 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Binny will continue and he bowls a tidy over, conceding just a single, with new batsman James Taylor looking to be watchful with only a couple of overs to go before the lunch break.

Bell plays a nice punch off Yadav but the fast bowler makes a good stop on his follow through. But the next ball is a loose delivery, on the pads as Bell eases it over the square leg fielder for his third boundary. The next ball is short and wide as Bell punches it through the covers for three runs to race to 28 from 18 balls.

Taylor gets off the mark with a lovely drive through the covers for three as the runs continue to flow.

England have raced to 41 for one in six overs at the lunch break with Bell on 28 from 18 balls and Taylor on three, needing another 113 runs from 44 overs for victory.

The match will resume after the lunch break of 30 minutes and England would be hoping to continue their dominating performance and coast to victory along with a bonus point.
12:27
While India have been totally outplayed in this match so far, they have in the past produced some exceptional performances with the ball after a batting failure, points out statistician Mohandas Menon.

"Lowest total successfully defended by India overseas:
at Perth 9-12-1980
Ind 162 in 47.4 ov
NZ 157 in 49.5 ov (Roger Binny 4/41) #IndvsEng," he tweets.
12:14   Ali falls for eight but England in control
 England 30-1 (4 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

England on the charge as Bell punches a full delivery past mid-off for a boundary. He then lofts the third ball over the off-side for a couple before he hits another wide delivery through the covers for three runs.

Ali is then foxed by the slower ball as he mishits it on the off-side and is caught for eight. The left-hander was too early into the shot and got it right off the toe end of the bat only to hole out to Kohli at mid-off as England are reduced to 25 for one in three overs.

Just the one over for Bhuvneshwar with the new ball before he makes way for the extra pace of Umesh Yadav.

He starts with a good delivery, beating Bell outside the off-stump courtesy of some movement. Bell turns the next ball on the leg side for two runs and gets another couple two balls later followed by a single.
12:05   England off to a quick start after India fold for 153
 England 16-0 (2 ovs) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bowl the second over as the fast bowling duo of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav are held back. Surprising decision considering the pitch has a bit of extra bounce, but perhaps captain Dhoni is trying a few things.

Kumar starts with a leg side wide before Bell punches the next ball square on the off-side for a boundary. He clips the next ball to the fine leg region for a single.

Ali clips the next ball on the leg side for two runs before he pulls the last ball for a boundary to get 12 runs from the over.

England are off and running as they race to 16 for no loss in two overs.
11:59
 England 0-0 (1 ov) vs India 153 | Scorecard

Surprising decision from India to give Stuart Binny the new ball as he starts proceedings for India with the ball.

He starts with a no-ball to Ian Bell, giving England a free hit right at the start of the innings. Moeen Ali is unable to get full power but manages to carves the free hit ball over the off-side for two runs.

Binny manages to keep Ali quiet for the rest of the over as three runs come from it.
11:54
India 153-all out (39.3 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

England's fast bowling duo of Finn and Anderson made most of a pitch offering some extra bounce. Finn claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs, to finish with magnificent figures of five for 33, while the experienced Anderson, who bowled a magical spell with the new ball, finished with four for 18.

Off-spinner Moeen Ali chipped with an useful spell of one for 31 in nine overs, while Broad and Woakes must consider themselves unlucky not to finish among the wickets.

India's batting was poor as all the batters gave their wickets away cheaply with some careless shots.

Binny (44) salvaged the situation in company of captain Dhoni (34) as the duo added 70 runs for the sixth wicket. Rahane played some cracking shots in his 40-ball 33 but he threw his wicket away with a reckless shot after getting set and after that the floodgates opened with wickets falling at regular intervals.

The England innings will resume in a few minutes and they will be itching to make a strong start in the new overs before the lunch break.
11:48   Finn, Anderson send India crashing for 153
India 153-all out (39.3 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Binny has decided to go on the attack. He heaves Finn over the leg side for a huge six to signal his intentions. He is then foxed by a slower bouncer before he takes a single to bring up India's 150. Shami takes a single from the fifth ball to get off the mark before England appeal for a catch down the leg side as Binny misses the pull off a short delivery.

The last ball is a quick bouncer which Binny looks to pull but it hits the helmet and is caught by keeper Buttler who appeals for the catch but it is turned down.

However, Binny falls in the next over. The right-hander played a fine innings of 44 before he is deceived by the slower ball from Anderson and is caught at mid-off.

Shami goes for a wild swing off the next ball but is caught in the deep by Ali to fall for seven.

A disappointing batting performance by the World champions as they are bundled out for a paltry 153 in 39.3 overs.

11:35
India 143-8 (38 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

The wickets continue to tumble for India. This time Anderson bowls a beauty, pitching on the stumps and moving away late to take the top of off-stump as Bhuvneshwar walks back for five.

The onus now rests on Binny (37) to guide the lower order and score some runs in the remaining overs.

Mohammed Shami defends the rest of the over as Binny refuses a single from the last ball of the over.
11:30   Finn takes 5 as India's batsmen flop at Gabba
India 141-7 (37 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Anderson also comes back as England bring back their two best bowlers to operate in the Powerplay. Dhoni (33) gets a lifeline as Anderson puts down a sharp chance on his follow through but he sends down another tight over conceding just one.

Superb stuff from England as India get just two runs from the first two overs of the Powerplay.

The pressure pays off as Dhoni goes for a wild swing but gets an edge and is caught behind off Finn for 34.

The Indian captain brought the innings back on track to some extent as he added 70 runs for the sixth wicket with Binny.

Axar Patel turns 21 today, however, his birthday joy is shortlived. Finn gets one through his defences to bowl him for his second successive duck and leave India tottering on 137 for seven in the 37th over.

Finn on a hat-trick but Bhuvneshwar Kumar evades it as he offers no shot to one outside the off-stump. He slips the fifth ball through the off-side for three runs to get off the mark.

Finn then strikes the stumps before delivering the ball and it is ruled a no-ball giving India another extra run before Binny defends the last ball.

India in complete disarray at 141 for seven in 37 overs with Binny battling hard on 37.  Finn has excellent figures of five for 24 in seven overs.

How much more can they get? Can they even get 200?
11:21
India 136-5 (35 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Binny is beaten outside the off-stump as Woakes appeals for caught behind but the umpire is not moved and he takes a single from the next ball. Dhoni then picks two runs on the leg side off successive deliveries to get six runs from the over.

Binny is looking to lift the tempo as he comes down the track to Ali and lofts him straight back over his head for a six.

India take the Batting Powerplay at the start of the 35th over as Finn comes back. However, India can manage only a single in that over as Dhoni picks one on the leg side.

11:03   Dhoni, Binny steady India after quick wickets
India 120-5 (32 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

10:57
India 113-5 (30 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Woakes comes back as Broad gets a break after another spell. Binny breaks the shackles as he lofts the pacer over mid-off for a boundary to bring up India's 100, in the 29th over. The next ball is a beauty, extra bounce and movement, taking the edge as Binny looks to defend but it goes through the vacant slip region for a boundary.

Two balls later Binny pulls a short ball but again mishits it fine on the leg side for the third four of the over, which goes for 14 runs.

After 30 overs, India are 113 for five with Dhoni on 22 from 35 balls and Binny on 25 from 36 balls.
10:47   Finn takes 3 to leave India reeling at Gabba
India 95-5 (28 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

India have virtually ruled out taking any risks against Ali's slow left-arm spin. Dhoni and Binny collect two singles from the 26th over as Ali continues to be miserly, having given just 12 runs in five overs for a wicket.

Broad also getting some steep bounce but Dhoni somehow manages to pull it down for one and Binny also plays the same shot for the same result to get three runs from the 27th over.

India struggling to rotate the strike against Ali as Binny plays four dot balls before he takes a single on the leg side and Dhoni retains strike with one from the last ball.

10:39
India 89-5 (25 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Finn's extra bounce has caused the Indian batsmen a lot of problem and this will be a big area of concern for them ahead of the World Cup.

Dhoni brings some cheer to the Indian fans as he slaps a wide delivery from Finn through the off-side for a four, the first after a long wait of 45 deliveries.

Ali bowls another tidy over conceding just four singles as India look to rebuild their innings.

Broad comes back for his third spell to bowl only his fifth over of the innings. He gives a single from the first ball to Dhoni as he fails to stop the ball cleanly but Binny is unable to get a run from the rest of the over.

India getting runs only in singles as Ali concedes just three in his fourth over.

Dhoni plays a careless lash against Broad outside the off-stump but is beaten before he defends the next to the covers. But he gets the fourth ball through the gap in the off-side for three runs.

At the halfway stage, India have struggled to 89 for five in 25 overs with Dhoni on 16 from 23 balls and Binny on eight from 18 balls.

10:21   Finn gets 3rd wicket as India stumble at Gabba
India 69-4 (20 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Finn's extra bounce has caused the Indian batsmen a lot of problem. Rayudu also perishes trying to steer it to thirdman as he only manages to edge it behind to wicketkeeper Buttler to be dismissed for 23.

Finn has wonderful figures of three for 12 in four overs as India slip to for 67 for five in 19 overs.

All-rounder Stuart Binny has a wonderful opportunity to prove his credentials with the bat with captain Dhoni at the other end.

Binny gets off the mark with a single on the leg side, inside edge off the pads as it flies past the fielder at leg slip.

India have lost three for 11 in the last five overs to be struggling on 69 for five in 20 overs.

Ali (1 for 3) and Finn (3 for 12) have combined figures of four for 15 in six overs to put England in control.

10:15   Kohli and Raina perish early, India in tatters
India 65-4 (18 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

England introduce spin in the form of left-armer Moeen Ali, who took a lot of wickets during their Test series last year.

And Ali continues his wicket ways against England. Suresh Raina comes down the track but is beaten all ends up as Buttler completes an easy stumping to leave India tottering on 65 for four in the 18th over.

Poor thinking from Raina as he stepped out quite early and was perhaps looking more to defend than attack.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has his task cut out and needs to bail his side out of trouble.

Dhoni watchfully plays the rest of the over before he takes a single from the last ball as Ali makes a perfect start with the ball.
10:08   Kohli out for 4, India in trouble against England
India 65-3 (17 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Broad is taken off after another two-over spell (4-0-24-0) as he makes way for Woakes. Meanwhile, Rayudu seems to be in some pain and calls for the physio to attend to some injury on his toe.

Kohli gets off the mark with a single and then takes two runs over the off-side as six runs come from the over.

India are then dealt a big blow as Finn claims the big wicket of Kohli, who is caught behind for four for his second successive failure in the tri-series.

Kohli (4) tried to run it down to thirdman but the extra bounce did him in as he got an edge to be caught behind by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler to leave India in trouble at 65 for three in 17 overs.
09:54   Rahane out for 33, India lose 2nd wicket
India 58-2 (15 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Rahane loses his patience and attempts a big shot against Finn but mishits it on the leg side to be caught for 33 from 40 balls.

Virat Kohli walks in to bat at No. 4 as he faces another rebuilding task in the company of Rayudu.

This is the fifth time Rahane has fallen to Finn in ODIs as India are reduced to 58 for two in 15 overs.
09:45
India 53-1 (13 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Anderson continues as Rayudu gets two runs from the first ball on the off-side before he shuffles across and takes one on the leg side.

Rahane plays another thumping pull shot but this time gets just one with a fielder in place at deep midwicket to get four runs from the over.

Rahane seems to have settled down nicely after a quiet start. He flicks Broad on the leg side for two runs followed by a single. Rayudu then pulls a short ball to deep square leg for two but is beaten off the last ball as he pokes at one outside the off-stump which moves away slightly.

Anderson after a superb first spell of one for 15 in six overs, including two maidens, makes way for Steven Finn.

Three singles from the first four balls before Rayudu comes down the track and slams it through the covers for a four to India take past the 50-run mark and also raise the 50-run stand for the second wicket from 65 balls.
09:32   Rahane, Rayudu rally India after early wicket
India 36-1 (10 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

A short first spell for Woakes, three overs for seven runs, before he makes way for Stuart Broad.

Rahane immediately targets the pace bowler as he lofts the first ball over mid-off but does not make proper connection for a couple of runs. He gets inside edge off the third ball going for a drive through the off-side for two more runs.

Rahane trying to be aggressive as he plays another lofted shot past mid-off without much conviction for two runs and defends the last ball.

Rayudu also decides to go on the attack. He comes down the track to Anderson and has a wild swing at Anderson but is beaten by a long way. Three slips in place but Rayudu still looks to steer it fine as it goes on the bounce to the third slip fielder. Rayudu keeps strike with a single from the last ball which turns out to be the only run of the over. He has struggled to get going, having made six from 23 balls.

Rayudu takes a single from the first ball on the leg side before Rahane pulls Broad powerfully over midwicket for a six, the first of the innings. He edges the fifth ball which goes past the lone first slip fielder for a boundary as the runs finally start to flow for India.

India have recovered to 36 for one in 10 overs with Rahane on 26 from 31 balls and Rayudu on six from 24 balls.

Just a single in the sixth over bowler by Woakes as Rayudu struggles to get going, he has made one from 15 balls.

Rahane looks to break the shackles as he comes down the track to Anderson and has a wild swing but is unable to make connection. He turns the next ball behind square on the leg side for two runs.

India struggling on eight for one in five overs with Rayudu on one from 11 balls and Rahane on four from 14 balls.
09:06   Dhawan fails again, India lose early wicket
India 1-1 (3 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Chris Woakes to bowl the second over. He bowls a good short delivery to Dhawan, who looks to defend but gets hit high on the bat handle and a slight knock on the gloves. He gets India off the mark with a signel on the leg side off the fourth delivery.

In the next over, Anderson strikes with the wicket of Dhawan, who is caught behind for one to continue his poor run in Australia.

Superb piece of bowling from the experienced England pacer as Dhawan is forced to come forward and defend but the ball swings enough to take the edge.

Dhawan failed in the Test series before he was dropped for the fourth match and now he has failed in the first two ODIs (2 and 1).

Ambati Rayudu walks in to bat at No. 3 as Virat Kohli opts to hold himself back yet again, maybe the Anderson factor has to do something with it.

A wicket maiden from Anderson, who is yet to concede a run in two overs to leave India reeling on one for one in three overs.
08:54
India 0-0 (1 ov) vs England

08:10   India hoping bowlers can deliver against England
Welcome to the coverage of the third match of the Carlton Mid ODI tri-series between India and England in Brisbane, on Tuesday.

Both India and England would be desperate for a victory after both the teams lost to Australia in their opening matches.

Hosts Australia beat England by three wickets in Sydney on Friday and then beat India by four wickets in Melbourne on Sunday.

In this series, billed as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming ODI World Cup, both England and India will be keen to get a victory under their belt.

World champions India are hoping their bowlers can deliver against England after a below-par performance in the Test series against Australia.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Axar Patel played a key role in squeezing the run-rate against Australia. Coming quickly on the heels of their Sunday outing, Indias bowlers in particular Kumar and Axar will be under the spotlight.

A similar bowling performance will be expected from the duo and if they are able to deliver on their promise, then it will be a huge step forward for this attack as senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had an off-day in Melbourne.
