Sydney ODI Live! Match abandoned; all to play for India at WACA

Timeline  Refresh

14:40

India: 69-2 (16 overs)

The umpires have finally decided to call the game off.

Only 16 overs were possible in Sydney, in what was a must win game for India. However, there's a silver lining for Dhoni and Co.

This implies the final league game between England and India, at the WACA (Perth) is a straight knockout for a chance to play Australia in the final, at the same venue.
11:36

India: 69-2 (16 overs)

Virat Kohli is the new man in. And there is another bowling change, James Faulkner replacing Marsh (3-0-21-1) in the attack in the 15th over.

And there is another rain delay, with India on 69 for two after 16 overs.
11:18

India: 62-1 (13 overs)

Australia make the first bowling change in the ninth over, Mitchell Marsh replacing Starc (4-0-11-1). Rayudu smashes the fifth ball for a six over long-on.

Spin is introduced in the 12th over, Xavier Doherty replacing Hazlewood (5-0-25-0). He gives away five runs first up.

Marsh strikes in his third over, Warner taking a spectacular catch to cut short Rayudu's (23) innings.
10:54

India: 26-1 (7 overs)

Starc strikes in his fourth over, having Dhawan (8) caught by Aaron Finch at first slip. The opener's poor run continues.

Ambati Rayudu comes in at no.3.
10:48

India: 24-0

We are back!!!

The game has been reduced to 44 overs per side.

Rahane gets the first boundary off the Indian innings, off Hazlewood. Dhawan helps himself to six runs in Starc's third over.

Scorecard:

India: 6-0 (2.4 overs)

Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane to open the batting for India and it will be Mitchell Starc first up for Australia. Just one off it.

Josh Hazlewood to bowl the second over, He starts off with three wides.

However, after only 16 deliveries are bowled the covers are brought on again.

We have another rain delay.

India have reached six without loss.
09:18
Finally some good news.

Australia has won the toss and their captain, George Bailey, didn't have any hesitation in asking India to bat first.

India have included Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja in the squad.

Good morning and welcome to the live coverage of the One Day International between Australia and India in Sydney.

It's the 26th of January. Australia Day and Republic Day for Indians.

But am afraid the news is not so good.

In what is a must win game for the Indians, rain has played spoilsport to begin with. Light drizzle delayed the toss in the morning and when the covers did come off, it proved to be a false alarm.

The rain returned and we have a delayed start. Watch this space for more.
