AB walks back after a brilliant innings of 77 from 58 balls, having hit seven fours and five sixes but his dismissal seems to have ended South Africa's hopes.

Sohail bowls a quick yorker which cuts in sharply but Tahir has done well to keep it out.

In the next over, Tahir edges Riaz which is caught behind by Sarfaraz as South Africa fold for 202 in 33.3 overs.

South Africa lose by 29 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method for their second defeat in the tournament.

Superb performance from Pakistan's pacers, with Irfan, Rahat and Wahaz taking three wickets each. Except for AB de Villiers, who made 77, the rest of the batsmen failed to get settled as South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Sarfaraz, who stroked 49 with the bat and then accounted for six dismissals, is named the man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance.

Abbott plays a confident punch past mid-off for a four off left-arm pacer Rahat. But he falls off the very next delivery as this time Rahat produces a beauty, which moves away across the right-hander to take the edge to be caught at second slip for 12.

Morne Morkel gets off the mark with a boundary as he slaps a short wide delivery past point.

South Africa are 177 for eight in 30 overs with AB on 56 from 47 balls and Morkel on 4. They need 55 runs from 17 overs for victory.

Kyle Abbott gets an inside edge which goes past the keeper for a boundary behind the stumps.

Rahat Ali comes back, replacing Irfan, who took three for 52 in eight overs. De Villiers makes most of some width as he lashes it over point for a boundary to take South Africa past the 150-run mark, in the 28th over.

 SA 138-7 (24 ovs) vs Pak 222; DL Target: 232 (47 ovs)

11 runs come from the over to spoil's Riaz's figures, who had conceded just a single from his first three overs while picking up two wickets.

De Villiers gets a lifeline as he sets off for a run before deciding against it but the bowler Ali is unable to hit the stumps. That was a close shave for the South African captain, who is batting well on 15 and is probably South Africa's last hope.

South Africa, who have a good run rate, ae concentrating on singles at the moment to get their innings back on track.

Irfan comes back as Pakistan are looking to get another wicket and get among the tail. He starts with one down the pads which Duminy helps round the corner for a four.

The move works for Pakistan as Irfan strikes with the wicket of experienced Duminy. The extra bounce does the trick as the left-hander top edges the pull and is caught on the fine leg fence by Riaz for 12.

Amla, who stroked a quickfire 38 from 27 balls with the help of nine fours, pokes at a wide outswinger only to get an edge as wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed holds on to a sharp diving catch to his right.

Captain AB de Villiers has a huge task on hand of rallying his team on a pitch still offering a lot of assistance to the pace bowlers.

He plays out of the rest of the over from Riaz, who starts with a wicket maiden.

The Batting Powerplay comes into effect as South Africa bring back Steyn. Akmal plays a cracking pull shot as he despatches a short delivery over midwicket for a four to get seven runs from the 36th over.

De Villiers is racing through his overs. Umar Akmal wastes no time as he flicks the second ball he faces over midwicket for a four as eight come from the over. AB has taken one for 43 in six overs and done a reasonable job in finishing up the quota of the fifth bowler.

Akmal is beaten by the quicker delivery from Tahir as he looks to pull a short ball but is foxed by the quicker one, getting an inside edge which goes on to his pads. He pulls the fifth ball but gets only a single for the only run of the over.

Pak 132-3 (27 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Pakistan have been quite sensible with their approach as they play it safe against the specialist pacers and pick just three runs from Morkel, who has given just 13 runs from six overs.

De Villiers continues and his gamble pays off as he strikes with the key wicket of Younis. The right-hander is squared up as he looks to turn it on the leg side and the leading edge is caught in the covers.

Poor batting from Younis to gift his wicket away after getting his eye in as he scored 37 from 44 balls, putting on 40 runs from 60 balls for the third wicket with Misbah.
08:09   Younis, Misbah lift Pakistan in middle overs
Pak 126-2 (25 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

South Africa building some pressure here as Morkel concedes just a single in the 22nd over followed by a maiden over from Tahir at the other end.

Morkel gives away four singles in the 24th over before AB comes back into the attack. With only four specialist bowlers in their line-up and Duminy going for runs, South Africa are desperate to get a few overs from someone else.

Two singles from three balls before Misbah clips it over the fine leg fielder for a four. The last ball is short as Younis pulls it over midwicket for another boundary to get 11 runs from the over. Poor bowling from AB but even worse has been his captaincy today.

Pakistan are looking on course for a healthy total as they reach 126 for two in 25 overs with Younis on 35 and Misbah on 15.
07:53
Pak 107-2 (20 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

South Africa decide to pile on the pressure as they bring back Steyn, hoping for a wicket or two and push back Pakistan further.

Misbah-ul Haq taps it on the off-side for a single and Younis does the same three balls later as the two veteran batsmen show their intent to keep the scoreboard moving. The Pakistan captain is beaten off the last ball as he tries to defend a full delivery which moves away a bit.

South Africa bring back Duminy and Pakistan have their eye on the ball as they pick nine runs from the over. Younis gets a boundary in the over as gets a thick outside edge trying to play the cut shot.

The fifth bowler is proving to be a headache for South Africa with Duminy conceding 34 runs in three overs, while AB de Villiers has given nine in his only over.

Meanwhile, Steyn bowls another tidy over as Pakistan look to play him off without taking any risks. He has conceded just 10 runs in five overs including two maidens.

Pakistan have scored 72 runs in the last 10 overs to reach 107 for two in 20 overs.
07:35   Sarfaraz run out for 49, Pakistan lose 2nd wicket
Pak 93-2 (17 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Sarfaraz goes on an all-out attack against part-timer Duminy. The right-hander heaves Duminy for three sixes, all of them over midwicket, in the 16th over.

Sarfaraz comes down the track and lifts Duminy with considerable ease over the leg side to take advantage of the short boundaries. He has raced to 48 from 46 balls as Pakistan have managed to get the momentum back after a slow start.

But Sarfaraz throws his wicket away in the worst possible manner, courtesy of a run out. He nudges it behind square on the leg side and looks to sprint for a difficult second run to complete his fifty but is well short of his crease as David Miller sends back a quick flat throw.

Sarfaraz is gutted at having thrown his wicket away so tamely after an entertaining innings of 49 from as many balls with five fours and three sixes as Pakistan are reduced to 93 for two after 18 overs.
07:30   Sarfaraz, Younis lift Pakistan after a slow start
Pak 69-1 (15 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

South Africa have leaked a few boundaries in the last couple of overs. Tahir bowls a tight over before he spoils it by bowling one down the leg side which Sarfaraz flicks fine for a four.

JP Duminy comes into the attack after just one over from de Villiers as South Africa look desperate to get in some overs from the fifth bowler early on. Duminy is milked away easily for four singles with both Younis and Sarfaraz looking keen to keep the scoreboard moving.

Sarfaraz has played some fancy shots and caught the South African bowlers off-guard. Once again he rocks back and steers one past short thirdman for a four before he takes a single and Younis takes one from the next ball.

Pakistan are 69 for one in 15 overs with Sarfaraz on 30 from 41 balls and Younis on 18 from 20 balls.
07:20
Pak 54-1 (12 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Time for spin as Pakistan-born Imran Tahir comes into the attack. Sarfaraz nudges the first ball to short thirdman for one before Younis pulls it through the leg side where Faf du Plessis misfields on the boundary to give away a four.

Sarfaraz then late cuts one very fine and manages to beat the short thirdman fielder the second four of the over.

10 runs from Tahir's first over as Pakistan make their intent clear against the leg-spinner.

A surprise move from South Africa as captain AB de Villiers comes into the attack to bowl his part-time medium pacers. Younis pulls the fourth ball powerfully past mid-on for a boundary before he takes a single on the leg side to race to 14 from as many balls.

De Villiers bowls another short ball which Sarfaraz pulls through square leg for another boundary. Pakistan have done well to recover from that wicket to score 19 runs from the last two overs to reach 54 for one in 12 overs.
07:14
Pak 35-1 (10 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Younis Khan needs some runs to ward off his critics. He gets off the mark with a couple behind square on the leg side off Morkel. The veteran hits the fifth ball, which is a no-ball, through the covers for two more runs but misses the free hit. The wicket of Shehzad spoiled the script slightly for Pakistan, who must be content at having reached 35 for one in 10 overs.
07:07   Shehzad out for 18, Pakistan lose 1st wicket
Pak 30-1 (9 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Shehzad has looked quite confident against the new ball. A mere punch on the up against Abbott hits the middle and goes straight down the pitch past the bowler for a four.

But Abbott gets his revenge off the next delivery. And it is a stunning catch from Dale Steyn that gets South Africa the opening wicket. The pacer runs back from midwicket, dives full length and manages to hold on to complete an unbelievable catch. That is easily the catch of the tournament so far!

Shehzad walks back for 18 as Pakistan are reduced to 30 for one in the ninth over.
07:03
Pak 26-0 (8 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Abbott is taken off after just one over as Morne Morkel comes in to take advantage of some extra bounce. Sarfaraz defends the first two balls before he takes a single to thirdman and Shehzad sees off the last three balls with Morkel enjoying bowling it short.

Change of ends for Abbott as Sarfaraz turns it on the leg side for a single. Shehzad pulls the fifth delivery which is short confidently over midwicket for a four as it bounces just inside the ropes.

This is turning out to be a good start for Pakistan, who were poor with their opening stand in the first four games. Sarfaraz is standing outside his crease and has so far been able to negotiate with the extra pace and bounce from the South African pacers to reach 26 for no loss in eight overs.

Good pace from Steyn as he bowls a testing over to Shehzad, who is content to play out a maiden. The pacer is yet to a concede a run in his first two overs.

Shehzad gets off the mark in the next over as he punches a full delivery straight down past mid-off for a four. He then looks to play a flashy drive through the off-side but is beaten as the ball moves away enough to go past the edge before he defends the last two balls.

Sarfaraz is batting a long way down his crease as he taps Steyn on the off-side for a four. Shehzad looks to leave one but gets an inside edge for a four behind the wickets.

Pakistan have done well not to lose a wicket in the early overs to reach 17 for no loss in five overs with both openers on eight each.

Kyle Abbott to bowl the second over. Sarfaraz shuffles a bit and flicks a full delivery off his pads square on the leg side for a boundary to get off the mark in some style.

He walks across a long way off the fifth ball and flicks another one through midwicket for a couple. There is a huge appeal for leg before wicket off the last delivery as Sarfaraz is struck on the pads going across again but the umpire turns down the appeal.

06:31   SA elect to bowl, Younis back for Pakistan
Welcome to the coverage of the 29th match of the ICC World Cup between South Africa and Pakistan at Eden Park, in Auckland, on Saturday.

South Africa captain AB de Villiers has won the toss and elected to bowl against Pakistan. They made one change bringing in JP Duminy in place of Farhaan Behardien.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, who are desperate for a victory have made a couple of changes. An injury to Haris Sohail means that Younis Khan makes a comeback, while Sarfaraz Ahmed replaces the struggling Nasir Jamshed.

There is a possibility of rain later in the day which would bring the Duckworth-Lewis calculations into play.
