Ahmed Shehzad gets off the mark with a single to thirdman from the first delivery of the match.

Sarfaraz Ahmed is beaten as he plays away from his body and then ducks under a short delivery. He looks keen to see off the new ball and adopt a cautious approach at the start.

Josh Hazlewood to bowl the second over. Shehzad again steers it to thirdman for a single before Sarfaraz takes a few steps down the track but is forced to defend.

Hazlewood slips one down the leg side which hits Sarfaraz's pads and goes fine for four leg byes. He throws his bat at the last delivery but is beaten and is lucky not to have edged it.
08:55   Pakistan win toss, elect to bat against Australia
Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has won the toss and elected to bat on a greenish looking wicket at the Adelaide Oval.

Australia have made one change bringing in Josh Hazlewood for Pat Cummins but Pakistan are unchanged.

Australia's pace attack would definitely look to make most of the early help from the Adelaide pitch.

"They have left a bit of grass on it so hopefully it will do something with the new ball," Australia captain Michael Clarke said at the toss.

08:15   Favourites Australia wary of Pakistan enigma
Welcome to the coverage of the third quarter-final of the ICC World Cup between Australia and Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval, on Friday.

Australia enter the match as runaway favourites against Pakistan, but will be wary of an enigmatic team that have proved a major thorn in their side at past tournaments.

Australia boast 11 wins from their past 13 one-day internationals against Pakistan, but it was the 2011 World Cup loss in Colombo that will be remembered grimly by a number of players in Michael Clarke's side.

As triple defending champions, a Ricky Ponting-led Australia came into the 2011 pool match riding a 34-match winning streak at World Cups dating back to 1999.

Pakistan skittled their batsmen for 176, their lowest World Cup total since 1992, and held on to record a four-wicket victory that put Australia into a tough quarter-final which they ultimately lost to eventual champions India.

It was also Pakistan who were the last team to beat Australia before their winning streak which included the teams playing off in the 1999 World Cup final and Australia go on to defend the trophy twice.
