World Cup Live: New Zealand thrash West Indies by 144 runs

Daniel Vettori finished the game for New Zealand as he dismissed Jason Holder for 42. 

Riding high on Martin Guptill's unbeaten 237, New Zealand posted a mammoth 393-6 on board. 

In the chase, Chris Gayle tried his best with a 33-ball 61. Jason Holder down the order made 26-ball 42, but it wasn't good enough as Windies were bundled out for 250 in 30.3 overs. 

Trent Boult was the star with the ball with 4-44 from his 10 overs. 

Southee and Vettori picked up two wickets each.

Tim Southee is his comeback spell castles Andre Russell as New Zealand inch closer to securing a place in semis. 

Russell had made 20 off just 11 balls, which included one boundary and two sixes. 

West Indies were 217-8 after 26 overs.

West Indies succumbed to scoreboard pressure, as Carter was undone by a yorker from Vettori .

Adam Milne strikes the killer blow for New Zealand as he removes Chris Gayle for 61. 

Gayle was a threat to the score, but Trent Boult rocked Windies early with four quick strikes to push them on the back foot. 

Gayle entertained the crowed with his lusty blows, but didn't get much support from the other end. 

Milne bowled fast and had Gayle poking one outside off-stump only to hit it back on to his stumps to end the 33-ball knock. 

Darren Sammy has started off impressively with two boundaries. But he couldn't last long as he was caught by Luke Ronchi for 27. 

Anderson was the beneficiary and his bowling added a bit of spice to the bowling.. 

After 22 overs, West Indies were 172-6.

Chris Gayle is waging a lone battle for West Indies with a half-century off just 26 balls. 

Pressure was on Gayle to perform in high-voltage game, but sadly for West Indies, he isn't getting much support from the other end. 

At the end of 15 overs, West Indies were 115-4.

Things could not have gone any more worse for West Indies. 

Marlon Samuels played some impressive shots before Daniel Vettori plucked one out of thin air off the bowling of Boult.

Boult then hand Denesh Ramdin walking back for nought after he caught him LBW. 

Chris Gayle is waging a lone battle with 48 off just 23 balls. 

At the end of 12 overs, West Indies were 101-4.

Trent Boult strikes early for Zealand as he had Johnson Charles walking back, after he missed a straight one and the ball crashed onto the off stump for 3. 

Charles, who was feeling the scoreboard pressure gave himself a bit of room, only to have his off-stump uprooted.

An unbeaten 237 off just 167 balls has powered New Zealand to 393 in the fourth quarter-finals in Wellington. 

West Indies must be ruing the dropped catch as Marlon Samuels dropped him on 4. 

But after that, Guptill played a chance-less innings to ensure that New Zealand are almost there in the semis. 

His knock included 24 overs and 11 sixes. 

Ross Taylor was next highest scorer with 42.

Guptill overtook Chris Gayle as the highest individual scorer in the World Cup. Gayle hit 215 vs Zimbabwe, earlier in the World Cup.

Martin Gutpill hit the second double century of the World Cup as he demolished West Indies bowling up. 

All the New Zealand batsmen got starts, but Guptill outclassed one and all to become the highest individual scorer for the hosts. 

Grant Elliot's cameo came to an end after he was adjudged LBW for 27 off 11 balls. 

Guptill reached the landmark in 152 balls which included 21 boundaries and 8 sixes. 

None of the West Indian bowler had any answer to the onslaught.

Martin Guptill crossed the 150 off just 134 balls as New Zealand dominate West Indies.

Guptill who was dropped on 4 made full use of his life and took it out on West Indies bowlers.  

Ross Taylor and Guptill put on 143 runs for the third wicket, which laid the foundation of late onslaught. 

At the end of 43 overs New Zealand were 278-3 after 43 overs. Guptill is on 168, while Corey Anderson is on 15.

Martin Guptill hit his second World Cup ton as New Zealand gain the ascendancy here in Wellington. 

Guptill who was dropped by Marlon Samules, when he was on 4, made full use of his life. 

He quickly reached his half-century off just 64 balls and even though wickets fell around him, he kept his cool to rach the three-figure mark. 

Guptill reached the landmark with a single off Samuels.

The 111-balls knock, his 7th ODI ton overall, included seven hits to the fence.

New Zealand were 187-2 after 35 overs. Guptill is on 100, while Ross Talor is on 36

Martin Guptill has settled well in the role of the sheet anchor and along with Ross Taylor, they are looking to provide a strong platform for the late flourish. 

None of the West Indies bowlers have managed to make any real breakthrough and with a flat wicket, Kiwi batsmen are making merry. 

The partnership, which has already yielded 62 runs, has Taylor who is doing all the singles, while Guptill managing to get the odd boundary. 

At the end of 29 over, New Zealand were 155-2. Guptill is on 82, while Taylor is on 24.

After electing to bat first, Guptill announced his intention with a straight drive off Jerome Taylor. 

The 64-ball innings included seven hits to the fence and will now be looking to carry the team through.

Williamson, along with Martin Guptill had steadied the ship for New Zealand, before a loose shot from Kiwi batsman broke the 62 runs stand. 

Williamson hit a wide delivery straight to Chris Gayle, who took the catch in the second attempt. 

New Zealand were 91-2 after 17 overs.

Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill have combined well for New Zealand and helped them settle from the early loss of Brendon McCullum. 

West Indies bowling has been a mixed bag so far and they have bowled well in patches. 

Sulieman Benn hasn't really tested the batsmen and has leaked runs.

Martin Guptill started the proceedings with an array of straight drives. 

Brendon McCullum wasn't too far away as he launched into Jason Holder as he smoked him for a maximum.

West Indies get the dangerman as Holder takes a good running catch.

Contrary to what they have done so far, skipper Brendon McCullum reckons that it's a used pitch and getting run on board is always good. 

Adam Milne returns to Kiwi side after an injury. 

West Indies skipper Jason Holder wasn't too disappointed with losing the toss and felt that the wicket should stay firm. 

Windies have two changes to their side bringing in Suleimann Benn and so does Chris Gayle, who is declared fit for the crucial game.
