It's Starc up next. Rahane (44) edges the ball and they go for a review. TV umpire Erasmus gives it out.

Rahane's 68-ball innings was inclusive of three boundaries and he helped his captain add 70 runs (off 80 balls) for the fifth wicket.
15:50

India: 170-4 (35 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Johnson is back in the 33rd over, replacing an impressive Hazlewood (9-1-33-1). He is unlucky as an edge by Rahane (o 28) goes past Clarke in first slip.

India 157 for four at the second drinks break (after 33 overs). Rahane smashes Watson to the fence immediately after resumption.

The fifth wicket stand is now more than 50 runs, and it has come at a good pace as well.

Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Shane Watson is handed the ball in the 30th over, replacing Maxwell (5-0-18-0). He gives away just four runs.

A single by Dhoni, off Watson, helps India reach the 150-run mark, in the 32nd over. They need 179 off 18 now.
15:17

India: 130-4 (28 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Thanks to the quick wickets, Maxwell's figures (5-0-18-0) make for an impressive read.

Only Faulkner seem to be suffering, going at nine runs per over.

Dhoni and Rahane have so far added 22 runs in five overs for the fifth wicket.
15:04

India: 108-4 (24 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Faulkner replaces Starc (5-0-15-0) in the attack in the 23rd over.

Captain MS Dhoni walks out to bat with his team in all sorts of trouble.
14:56

India: 102-3 (22 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Suresh Raina is the new man in for India.

Australia also make a bowling change, Starc replacing an impressive Hazlewood (7-1-20-1) in the 19th over. He gives away three runs.

Twin bowling change for Australia, Glenn Maxwell replacing Johnson (6-0-29-2). He gives away just a single.

A single by Raina, off Maxwell, helps India reach the 100-run mark, in the 22nd over.
14:41

India: 91-3 (18 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Disastrous show by Kohli. He took 13 balls for a single and fell prey to a short ball, when India needed him the most.

Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in, coming in at a time when India have lost some momentum.

Rohit (34) eases the pressure with a six in front of square off Johnson. But Johnson crashes through his defense in the next.

Johnson's two blows are telling.
14:27

India: 78-2 (15.3 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Virat Kohli is the new man in. And the camera palpably focuses on lady love Anushka Sharma for the next few seconds.

Hazlewood is bowling beautifully here. Beats Kohli fair and square. In fact his sixth is a maiden.

India have scored just five runs, off 20 balls, since Dhawan's dismissal.

The pressure tells as Kohli (1) skies a Johnson delivery and Haddin makes no mistake.
14:15

India: 76-1 (13 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

India is going at a similar rate as Australia. Besides, they haven' lost a wicket.

Dhawan seems to be taking a liking for Faulkner, helping him to successive boundaries in the latter's second over.

Faulkner has gone for 29 in two, Dhawan taking 25 of those.

Hazlewood is back, replacing Johnson (3-0-16-0) in the 13th over. And he strikes with his fifth ball, having Dhawan (45) caught by Maxwell at deep extra cover.
14:00

India: 55-0 (10 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Johnson goes round the wicket in his second over. A drive of the back foot gives Dhawan his second boundary.

Second bowling change for Australia. James Faulkner replaces an impressive Hazlewood (4-0-15-0) in the attack in the 10th over. He starts off with a no ball. But India fail to take advantage of the resulting free hit.

Dhawan gives him the charge and gets successive boundaries. He follows it up with a huge six, one that takes India past the 50-run mark.
13:48

India: 30-0 (7 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

The Australian opening duo is bowling well but sadly has no wickets to show for their efforts.

The first bowling change teakes place in the seventh over, Mitchell Johnson replacing Starc (3-0-9-0). Sharma smashes the second ball for a huge six over fine leg.
13:39

India: 20-0 (5 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Josh Hazlewood to bowl the second over. Three runs come off it. Starc bowls a good second over.

Dhawan hits a boundary in Hazlewood's second over but is fortunate as Haddin puts him down in the next ball.

Both the openers have been lucky so far.
13:35

India: 15-0 (4 overs)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Josh Hazlewood to bowl the second over. Three runs come off it. Starc bowls a good second over.

Dhawan hits a boundary in Hazlewood's second over but is fortunate as Haddin puts him down in the next ball.

Both the openers have been lucky so far.
13:23

India: 4-0 (1 over)
Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

And we are back!

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan open the batting for India and it will be Mitchell Starc first up for Australia. Rohit nicks the third ball to Watson at third slip. They go for a review.

Rohit survives. And hits the fifth ball to the fence.
12:44

Australia: 328-7 (50 overs)

Johnson helps himself to three successive boundaries off Shami, who ends a wicketless and expensive spell, having conceded 68 runs.

Too bad considering he started off so well this morning.

Mohit to bowl the final over. Kohli puts down Haddin (on 6) off the third ball. Johnson (27 not out) hits a boundary and a six over midwicket to ensure Australia a grand stand finish.

The co-hosts manage 328 for seven in their stipulated overs.
12:35

Australia: 304-7 (48.3 overs)

Mohit is hit for 10 by Watson (28) but the bowler has the last laugh, having him caught by Rahane at deep square leg.

Mitchell Johnson is the new man in.

A single by Haddin, off Shami, helps Australia get to the 300-run mark, in the penultimate over.
12:21

Australia: 288-6 (47 overs)

Jadeja ends an expensive spell (10-0-56-0).

Yadav returns and strikes for a fourth time, cleaning up Faulkner (21).

Faulkner's 12-ball 21 was inclusive of three boundaries and a six and he helped Watson add 36 runs (off 26 balls) for the sixth wicket.

Brad Haddin is the new man in.
12:15

Australia: 279-5 (46 overs)

Ashwin ends his spell with decent figures (10-0-42-1), Watson smashing the last ball for a huge six over midwicket.

Only 27 runs came in the seven overs till the 44th.

Faulkner eases the pressure with successive boundaries off Shami.

Jadeja comes in to bowl his final over. Faulkner welcomes him with a six over midwicket.
12:02

Australia: 250-5 (43 overs)

Jadeja replaces Ashwin (9-0-34-1) in the attack in the 40th over. He gives away just four runs.

It's a twin bowling change for India, Shami replacing Yadav (8-063-3) in the 41st over. He gives away just two runs.

The pressure tells as the next bowling change, Mohit Sharma, has Clarke (10) caught by Rohit Sharma at midwicket.

James Faulkner is the new man in.
11:43

Australia: 235-4 (39 overs)

Yadav strikes for a third time and this time it is another big one.

He has a settled Finch (81) caught by Shikhar Dhawan at midwicket.

Captain Michael Clarke walks out to bat. Australia in a spot of bother here with both the settled batsmen dismissed.
11:37

Australia: 233-3 (38 overs)

Australia have managed 64 runs in the batting powerplay for the loss of a wicket.

Apologies that wasn't catch. But Ashwin, replacing Shami (7-0-40-0), does get Maxwell (23) out, caught by Rahane at deep backward square leg.

Shane Watson is the new man in.
11:33

Australia: 231-3 (37 overs)

Smith and Finch added 182 runs, off just 186 balls, for the second wicket. The promotion of Maxwell seems the best possible thing for Australia ahead of the batting powerplay.

A leg bye ensures the home team get to the 300-run mark ahead in the 35th over, of the powerplay. Australia 206 for two after 35 overs. Time for BPP.

Shami to bowl. Ten runs come off the over with Finch finding the fence.

Yadav continues. Maxwell smashes him for a boundary and a six over midwicket back to back. It is followed by another boundary in the fifth ball.

However, Yadav has Maxwell (23) caught by Rahane off the final ball.
11:17

Australia: 197-2 (34.1 overs)

Umesh Yadav replaces Shami (6-0-30-0) in the 35th over and strikes first ball.

He has Smith (105) caught by Rohit Sharma at deep square leg.

Smith's 93-ball innings was inclusive of 11 boundaries and a couple of sixes.

Glenn Maxwell is the new man in.
11:13

Australia: 197-1 (34 overs)

Four off Finch's seven ODI fifties have come against India. He definitely likes playing against the Men in Blue.

Shami is back to bowl, replacing Sharma (6-0-31-0) in the 33rd over.

Smith hits a couple of boundaries and a huge six over midwicket to complete his fourth ODI hundred.

He has clearly had the measure of India this summer.

Mohit gets a change of ends, replacing Ashwin (8-0-32-0), in the 34th. To no avail as Finch smashes the first ball for a six over point.
10:54

Australia: 155-1 (30 overs)

Jadeja got desperate there and India wasted a review. He again appeals for a bat-pad. Finch survives again.

Smith smashes Jadeja for a huge six over midwicket. Excellent shot with a vertical bat.

A single off Jadeja helps Finch to his seventh ODI fifty.

Mohit replaces an ineffective Jadeja (6-0-24-0) in the attack in the 29th over. He gives away six runs, the home team crossing the 150-run mark in the over.
10:33

Australia: 118-1 (23 overs)

The best thing about Smith's fifty is that it has come at a good pace. Also true is the fact that with spinners operating from both ends, the overall pace of the Australian innings has slowed down considerably.

Even as we say this Finch cuts Ashwin for a boundary, his fifth.

A single by Finch, off Jadeja, helps raise the 100-run partnership for the second wicket. The stand has laid the foundation for Australia. Its now time to built on it.

India go for a review in the over. Jadeja thinks he has got Finch (on 42). He is wrong. Finch survives.
10:21

Australia: 100-1 (19 overs)

Finch and Smith are scoring at a good rate, at almost a run-a-ball. Australia reach 89 for one at the first drinks break (after 16 overs).

R Ashwin is introduced into the attack in the 18th over, replacing Jadeja (2-0-13-0). Leg slip in place. Just two off the over.

A single off Jadeja helps Smith complete his seventh ODI fifty, his first against India. It also helps the home side get to the 100-run mark.
09:59

Australia: 77-1 (14 overs)

First bowling change for India happens in the 11th over, Mohit Sharma replacing Shami. He gives away just a single.

Yadav's first spell figures (5-0-39-1) look pedestrian to say the least. No surprise he is replaced immediately after that 16-run 'fifth' over.

Virat Kohli replaces him. Seven runs come off the over with Smith finding the midwicket fence.

A boundary by Finch, off the first ball off Mohit's second over, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the second wicket.

Kohli (1-0-7-0) is taken off after one over and Ravindra Jadeja is handed the ball. Six runs off the over.
09:43

Australia: 56-1 (10 overs)

Shami has bowled a probing first spell (5-0-16-0).

Same can't be said about Yadav though. Despite the wicket, the Aussies are scoring freely off him.

In his fifth over, Smith helps himself to successive boundaries in the first two balls. The fourth ball is also dispatched to the fence as the Aussies get past the 50-run mark in style and Smith celebrates it with a fourt boundary in the over.

Australia reach 56 for one after 10 overs.
09:32

Australia: 38-1 (8 overs)

Steve Smith is the new man in. He starts off with a couple.

Two balls later, he hits an exquisite boundary through the vacant mid-off region.

After struggling against Shami in the latter's first two overs, Finch hits a perfect straight drive in the first off his third.
09:12

Australia: 15-1 (3.1 overs)

Umesh Yadav strikes.

Warner (12) offers an outside edge and Kohli makes no mistake.

And Australia lose an in form batsman.
09:10

Australia: 15-0 (3 overs)

Umesh Yadav to bowl the second over. Warner welcomes him with a boundary first ball, past mid-off.

Warner smashes the last ball of the over square leg for a six, as Yadav goes for 12 runs first up.

While Warner has looked confident, Finch is looking tentative at the moment.
09:01

Australia: 2-0 (1 over)

Aaron Finch and David Warner to open the batting for Australia while it will be Mohammed Shami first up for India.

Two runs off the over.
08:31
Good morning and welcome to the live coverage of the match you all have been waiting for.

Yes, it is the second semi-final between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The news is that Australia has won the toss and expectedly opted to bat first.

"The wicket looks great. Runs on the board is a good thing," reasons Australian captain Michael Clarke. His opposite number, MS Dhoni, doesn't seem too perturbed.

"Not really. It won't really change much. But we would have batted first as well," he says.
