But Samson changes the script completely with two special shots. The fifth ball, short in length, is pulled handsomely over midwicket for a six and then plays an unbelievable paddle sweep off the last delivery for a four.

Superb over from McClenaghan as he bowled three consecutive dot balls to Smith and then gave away a couple of singles to build the pressure.

Smith tried to hit his team out of trouble but failed to middle the delivery and ended up losing his wicket.

Rajasthan are 127 for three in 15 overs, with 61 needed from five overs for victory at an asking rate of 12.20.

The next ball is short and wide as Watson punches it through point for a four and takes a single two balls later.

The Royals captain has a close shave as he is sent back by Sanju Samson and has to dive to beat the direct hit from the fielder at midwicket and Rajasthan also profit as the ball deflects off the stumps and goes for four overthrows.

 Rajasthan 30-0 (3 ovs) vs Mumbai 187-4 | Scorecard

Lasith Malinga to bowl the second over. He beats Rahane with one that moves away slightly and goes past the edge of the bat. Rahane is looking very tentative at the start but he eases some nerves as he flicks a full delivery from Malinga through midwicket for a four and keeps the strike with a single from the last ball.

Rahane goes after a wide delivery from McClenaghan but gets a thick outside edge for a single to the thirdman region. The next ball is short as Watson pulls it powerfully over midwicket for a six.

Watson goes for a big drive off the last ball but is beaten as McClenagahan ends a good first over.
21:47   Rayudu blasts 27-ball 53 to lift Mumbai Indians to 187
Mumbai 187-4 (20 ovs) vs Rajasthan | Scorecard

Another good over and Mumbai could well cross the 200-run mark or get close to it.

Theron, who has struggled in this game, comes back to bowl the final over.

Two singles from the first two balls before Pollard blasts the third ball square on the leg side for a four.

Theron attempts a slower ball as Pollard miscues it behind the stumps and wicketkeeper Samson judges a high catch to perfection.

Pollard falls after scoring 24 from 14 balls, having added 61 runs from 30 balls for the fifth wicket with Rayudu.

Rayudu completes his half-century in some style from the last ball of the innings as he steers a short ball over short thirdman for a four.

Mumbai 175-4 (19 ovs) vs Rajasthan | Scorecard

Watson comes back as he starts with a full toss which Rayudu hits behind square on the leg side for a four. Three more singles before Pollard pulls a short ball over midwicket for a six to raise Mumbai's 150.

The last ball is a high full toss which Pollard somehow manages to hit between fine leg and square leg for a four. To add to Watson's pain the umpires call it a no-ball for a high full toss and the bowler apologises to the tall West Indian.

He hits the last ball to the fine leg region as the fielder makes a good stop to keep it down to two as Watson goes for 20 runs in his third over, and has conceded a total of 36 runs.

Southee comes back, to bowl his fourth and final over. Rayudu smashes the second ball over the covers for a four and launches the fifth ball over midwicket for a six. The last ball is again short and wide as Rayudu blasts it over the covers for a four to get 16 runs from the over.

Theron has struggled with the ball and he comes back to bowl his third over. Rayudu heaves the fifth ball high over midwicket for a six as it carries all the way into the second tier of the Sachin Tendulkar stand. That was a massive hit!

Mumbai 120-4 (15 ovs) vs Rajasthan | Scorecard

Rohit pulls the fourth ball over midwicket for a six but the bowler gets revenge off the very next delivery. Rohit attempts the paddle scoop but is caught by Ankit at fine leg on the edge of the circle.

The trend of Mumbai batsmen giving their wickets away after getting off to good starts continue. This time it is their captain Rohit, who falls after scoring 27 from 21 balls as Mumbai are reduced to 120 for four in 15 overs.
21:12
Mumbai 112-3 (14 ovs) vs Rajasthan | Scorecard

Left-arm spinner Ankit to continue. Rohit punches the second delivery in the gap through the covers but the fielder at long-off does well to run to his left and stop the four as just two runs come from it.

Five more singles as seven runs come from it as Anit continues to be tight.

Theron is back as Rajasthan continue to rotate their bowlers from the other end by giving their pacers one over spells.

Another tight over as just four singles come from it and Rohit is beaten off the last ball.

Anit is taken off after taking one for 23 in three overs and he makes way for Binny.

A single from the first ball takes Mumbai past the 100-run mark, in the 14th over.

Rohit plays a cracking drive through the covers for a four off the third ball as the fielder in the deep fails to stop and dives right over it.

Two balls later he attempts the paddle but fails to connect and gets a leg bye.

Mumbai 88-3 (11 ovs) vs Rajasthan | Scorecard

Kiwi pacer Southee comes back and he strikes with the wicket of Chand. The youngster takes on a short ball from the pacer but mishits it on the leg side offering a simple catch to Binny, who takes a few steps to his right at mid-on and completes it.

A poor shot from Chand as he walks back for 13 to leave Mumbai in a bit of trouble.

The next ball is short as Rohit pulls it fine on the leg side for his first boundary.
20:52   Simmons out for 38, Mumbai lose 2nd wicket

Watson comes back as Simmons goes after the Royals skipper as he pulls the second ball over midwicket for a four. He lofts the next ball over mid-on and it goes all the way for a six as 13 runs come from the over.

But yet again Mumbai lose a wicket just when they were starting to threaten. Simmons to play the sweep but misses and is trapped leg before wicket after a good innings of 38 from 31 balls.

Infact, Simmons was unlucky to be given out as the umpire missed a clear inside edge.

Captain Rohit Sharma is the new batsman and he gets off the mark with a single. Chand plays a lovely drive through the covers off the last ball to end the over with a four.

Mumbai are 81 for two in 10 overs with Chand on 13 and Rohit on two.

Double change by the visitors as Kulkarni is taken off despite taking a wicket in his previous over and he makes way for Stuart Binny.

Mumbai seem to have cut down on their attacking approach and content to deal in singles at the moment as they pick five from Binny's first over.

Just one over from Watson before he brings in left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma. Chand takes a single from the first ball before Simmons pulls the fourth ball over midwicket for a four. Sensible cricket from the West Indian as he taps the next ball on the leg side and picks up two runs before taking a single from the last to retain strike.

Mumbai are 60 for one in eight overs with Simmons on 27 from 25 balls and Chand on six.

20:04
Mumbai 5-0 (1 ov) vs Rajasthan | Scorecard

Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel to open the batting for hosts Mumbai Indians, while Tim Southee will bowl the first over.

Simmons (0) gets a lifeline as wicketkeeper Sanju Samson drops a straightforward chance off the second delivery. Two balls later, the West Indian chips down the track and lofts Southee over the covers for a boundary to get Mumbai off the mark before taking a single from the next ball.

The last ball is a beauty as Parthiv looks to drive one through the off-side but is beaten.
