23:41   Rohit, Rayudu rally Mumbai after a horror start

Mumbai 77-4 (12 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

With Rohit hitting Tahir for a huge six in his first over, Delhi replace him with Mathews to bowl his medium pacers.

He builds up the pressure with some intelligent bowling, conceding just four singles as the asking rate continues to climb, with 88 needed from nine overs for victory.

Tahir is back from the other end. Four singles from the first four balls before the leggie bowls a leg side wide to Rohit and the keeper misses it too for three wides.

Rohit hits the fifth ball through midwicket where Coulter-Nile running to his right from long-on makes a full length dive and pushes the ball away but it manages to go away from the midwicket fielder and into the ropes for a four.

A single from the last ball makes it 11 runs from the over to take Mumbai to 77 for four in 12 overs.
23:33

Mumbai 61-4 (10 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

Leg-spinners from both ends now as Imran Tahir comes in from the other end. Rohit breaks the shackles as he lofts the second ball straight down the ground back over the bowler's head for a huge six but Imran does well to conced just a single from the rest of over, which goes for seven runs.

Mishra's second over goes for four runs as Mumbai reach 61 for four at the halfway stage, with another 92 runs needed from 10 overs for victory.

Rohit holds the key, he is batting well on 28 from 20 balls, while Rayudu is on seven from 14 balls.
23:25

Mumbai 50-4 (8 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

Interesting move from Delhi as they bring in part-timer Yuvraj Singh into the attack. He makes a tidy start despite a misfield from Zaheer off the last ball at short thridman to give away two runs as only five runs come from the over.

Spin from both ends as leggie Amit Mishra is called into the attack and even he does well by conceding just four singles in his first over as Mumbai reach 50 for four in eight overs.
23:17   Mumbai Indians in trouble after early wickets

Mumbai 41-4 (6 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

Play resumes again at the Wankhede stadium after a rain break of 30 minutes but no overs have been reduced.

Ambati Rayudu is the new batsman and he will face Coulter-Nile, who will complete the sixth over. The first ball stays a bit low and moves away beating Rayudu, who looks to defend from his crease.

He gets off the mark with a single to retain strike.

Mumbai are reduced to 40 for four in 5.2 overs as the rain intervenes once again.

Things not looking good for Mumbai as the Duckworth-Lewis score after 5.2 overs is 56 which means Mumbai are behind by 16 runs.
22:42   Parthiv falls for 13, Mumbai lose 3rd wicket

Mumbai 36-3 (5 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

The covers have come off as the match resumes after a brief 16-minute break.

Angelo Mathews comes into the attack as Parthiv slashes the first ball square on the off-side for a boundary.

But he falls off the very next delivery attempting another over the off-side as he is caught by Mishra in the covers to be dismissed for 13.

That was the slower ball from Mathews which foxed Parthiv, who was looking to blast it through the off-side.

Harbhajan Singh gets a promotion in the batting and he smashes the first ball through the off-side for a single.

Delhi's bowlers are rushing through their overs with Mathews running back to the start of his bowling mark after every delivery.

Rohit is beaten outside the off-stump by one that moves away but he pulls the last ball over midwicket for a six as Mumbai reach 36 for three in five overs.
22:23   Rain stops Mumbai vs Delhi match at Wankhede

RAIN STOPS PLAY!!!
Mumbai 25-2 (4 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

This sets up an interesting contest as Zaheer runs in to bowl to Mumbai captain Rohit. He guides the first ball to thirdman for a single to get off the mark and Parthiv turns the fourth ball on the leg side for two runs. Patel comes down the track and lofts the last ball over midwicket where Iyer makes a diving stop to save the boundary as Mumbai pick up three runs.

Rohit top edges the pull shot against Coulter-Nile but the mishit goes the distance for a six over the fine leg region. He smashes the next ball through the off-side but Agarwal at point makes a superb save to save a certain boundary and Patel takes from the last ball to get 11 from the over.

Out of nowhere, it has started raining at the Wankhede stadium as the players are forced off the field with Mumbai on 25 for two in four overs.
22:13   Delhi's pacers strike early to leave Mumbai reeling

Mumbai 8-2 (2 ovs) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

Nathan Coulter-Nile to bowl the second over. He makes a good start, bowling four dot balls in a row to Pandya, who succumbs to the pressure and throws his wicket away with a wild shot. He top edges the pull shot and is caught on the leg side by Imran Tahir for five.

Coulter-Nile starts off with a wicket maiden as Mumbai are reduced to eight for two in two overs.
22:10   Zaheer strikes in first over, Mumbai lose early wicket

Mumbai 8-1 (1 ov) vs Delhi 152-5 | Scorecard

Veteran Zaheer Khan to bowl the first over. He starts off a leg side wide to Lendl Simmons before he gets the right-hander with the next delivery, trapping him leg before wicket for a duck.

Hardik Pandya is sent in at No. 3 and he also is struck on the pads off the first ball he faced but he survives the huge shout for LBW.

The right-hander gets off the mark with a four as he flicks the next ball behind square on the leg side before Zaheer gifts Mumbai back to back wides down the leg side.

Delhi 152-5 (20 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Vinay to bowl the final over. He starts with a yorker to Tiwary before the left-hander paddle scoops the next ball over short fine leg for a four before he digs out another yorker on the off-side for one.

Two more singles off yorkers before Nathan Coulter-Nile blasts one to long-off where Kieron Pollard dives forward to stop the ball as Delhi get two runs from the last ball.

Nine runs from the last over as Delhi post a competitive 152 for six in their 20 overs with Tiwary unbeaten on 13 from 11 balls and Coulter-Nile on three.

Harbhajan was easily Mumbai's best bowler, claiming two for 11, while Malinga took two for 33 and Pandya got one for 13 in two overs.
21:40   Yuvraj hits half-century to lead Delhi's fightback

Delhi 143-5 (19 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Saurabh Tiwary joins the party as he smashes a full toss from Malinga straight down the ground for his first boundary. In the same over, Mumbai appeal for a catch behind by wicketkeeper off Yuvraj, who looks to steer it to thirdman but Parthiv Patel takes the ball and appeals.

Yuvraj seems unhappy with the appeal as it referred to the third umpire and the replays confirm that the ball has bounced before Patel caught it.

But Yuvraj falls off the last ball of the over. The left-hander sliced it on the off-side but Lendl Simmons at point dived to his right and pulled off a stunning catch, plucking it out of mid-air.

Yuvraj walks back after a superb innings of 57 from 44 balls, having hit seven fours and two sixes.
21:35   Yuvraj blasts quickfire fifty to lead Delhi's fightback

Delhi 137-5 (18 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Malinga comes back as Yuvraj comes down the track and blasts the second ball through midwicket for a four. He goes for another big drive off the next ball but gets an inside edge which goes past the wicketkeeper for another four.

Yuvraj in full flow as he hammers a full delivery through the covers to make it a hat-trick of fours to get into the 40s.

McClenaghan suffers at the hands of Yuvraj this time. The left-hander flicks the fourth ball over fine leg region for a six and carts the next one square on the leg side for another maximum to bring up his fifty in grand style, from 40 balls.

That is Yuvraj at his attacking best, hitting boundaries on both sides of the wicket and with superb timing. Infact, Delhi have bounced back courtesy of the left-hander, scoring 31 runs from the last two overs.
21:20   Mathews falls for 12 as Delhi struggle with the bat

Delhi 102-5 (16 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Mumbai decide to continue with Pandya, who will bowl his second over. Mathews blasts the second ball over midwicket for a huge six but falls off the very next delivery.

He mishits another attempted big hit and is caught at long-off for 12 to give Pandya his maiden wicket in IPL.

The wickets continue to tumble for Delhi, who are now struggling on 102 for five in the 16th over.

Pandya has been impressive with the ball as he slants another across Yuvraj, who plays and misses again.

But he crashes the last ball through the off-side to end the over with a boundary which takes his score to 29.
21:13

Delhi 95-4 (15 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Suchith will continue. Yuvraj smashes the third ball wide of long-on for a much-needed boundary before he and Mathews pick four more singles to keep the scoreboard ticking along.

Medium pacer Hardik Pandya comes into the attack. Mathews takes a single from the second ball before Yuvraj is beaten outside the off-stump off the next three deliveries and takes a single from the last ball to retain strike.

McClenaghan comes back into the attack, replacing Harbhajan.

Even he continues to keep it tight, conceding just five singles in his third over as Delhi struggle to 95 for four in 15 overs.

Yuvraj has been pretty calculated with his strokeplay, hitting 24 from 29 balls, while Mathews is on six from eight balls.
20:59   Harbhajan on fire, Delhi struggle with the bat

Delhi 80-4 (12 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Harbhajan to continue. Yuvraj looks to sweep the off-spinner but misses as the ball goes off the pads to the fielder at first slip and the muted appeal for a catch is turned down.

Two runs from the last ball take Delhi to 69 for three in 10 overs.

Harbhajan has been brilliant with the ball, taking one for eight in three overs including a maiden.

Jadhav decides to break the shackles as he slog sweeps Suchith's first ball over midwicket for a six. But the left-arm spinner comes back with three dot balls in a row before the right-hander steers it very fine on the off-side for two runs as eight come from the over.

With Harbhajan bowling beautifully and Yuvraj on strike, Mumbai decide to continue with the off-spinner who will bowl his fourth and final over.

And he strikes in his final over. Jadhav comes down the track but is beaten by the quicker one which slides on straight.

Jadhav falls for 16 as Delhi are reduced to 78 for four in the 12th over.

Harbhajan finishes with splendid figures of two for 10 in four overs, including 16 dot balls.

Brilliant stuff from the veteran off-spinner as Delhi once again find themselves in trouble courtesy of the top order's poor showing.
20:44

Delhi 66-3 (9 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Harbhajan against his old India team mate Yuvraj with a slip in place. Two singles from the first five balls before Jadhav tries the sweep but gets a top edge which flies over Malinga at short fine leg for three runs.

Malinga, who seems to have hurt himself slightly while trying to stop the ball, comes back for his second spell.

The Sri Lankan tries a few deliveries with mix of pace but Yuvraj watchfully defends it. Malinga tries the bouncer but Yuvraj pulls it confidently through midwicket for a four and swats the last ball past mid-on for another boundary.

Nine runs from the over take Delhi to 66 for three in nine overs with Yuvraj on 10 and Jadhav on seven.
20:37   Duminy falls for 28, Delhi Daredevils in trouble

Delhi 52-3 (7 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Left-arm spinner Suchith comes into the attack. Duminy targets him straightaway as he comes down and flicks the first ball through midwicket for a four.

But the bowler gets revenge a few deliveries later, pulling off a superb return catch to send the Delhi captain back for a brief cameo of 28 from 19 balls.

Delhi in all sorts of trouble at 50 for three and the experienced Yuvraj Singh has his task cut out.

Yuvraj gets off the mark with a single and Jadhav takes one from the last ball.

Delhi have lost two wickets for nine runs in two overs to find themselves in trouble at 52 for three in seven overs.
20:33   Harbhajan strikes, Delhi lose 2nd wicket

Delhi 44-2 (6 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Time for spin as Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack. Iyer decides to attack the veteran spinner rightaway as he tries to slog sweep him but gets an inside edge and is caught on the off-side after scoring 18 from 19 balls.

That wicket forces Duminy to change his approach and he looks keen to play it safe against Harbhajan, who starts off with a wicket maiden.

Interestingly, Kedar Jadhav is promoted ahead of Yuvraj Singh as he walks out to bat at No. 4.
20:29

Delhi 43-1 (5 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Iyer gets a streaky boundary courtesy of an inside edge through the midwicket region off McClenaghan's first delivery. But he gets the next ball off the middle lofting it over the off-side for another boundary.

Two balls later he looks to loft it again over the off-side but mishits it. Hardik Pandya and Jagadeesha Suchith run back to take the catch but the two players have a go but both fumble it as Iyer gets a lifeline.

The last ball is smashed confidently over long-on for the third four of the over as McClenaghan goes for 14 runs.

Duminy goes after Vinay as Delhi continue their good recovery after the early wicket.

Duminy chips the fifth ball over midwicket for a six and lofts the next straight down the ground for a four as Delhi reach 43 for one in five overs.
20:18   Delhi Daredevils struggle after early wicket

Delhi 15-1 (3 ovs) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Mitchell McClenaghan to bowl the second over. Shreyas Iyer steers the first ball to thirdman for a single and Duminy picks a quick run from the next delivery.

The Kiwi pacer attempts a quick bouncer at Iyer but it is too high and ruled a wide as the batsman decides to duck under it.

Just one over with the new ball for Malinga as he makes way for R Vinay Kumar.

Duminy gets a single from the second ball on the leg side before Iyer takes one from the fifth ball.

The last ball is smashed over mid-on for a six by Duminy as Delhi look to break free after a slow start.
20:09   Malinga strikes with first ball, Agarwal out for a duck

Delhi 4-1 (1 ov) vs Mumbai | Scorecard

Lasith Malinga to open the bowling for Mumbai Indians. And he strikes with the very first delivery of the match with the wicket of Mayank Agarwal, who pokes at one outside the off-stump away from his body only to get an edge and is caught behind for a duck.

J P Duminy walks in at No. 3 and he gets a full toss first up but fails to make most and hits it straight to the fielder in the covers. And unbelievably, he misses the next full toss too as once again he fails to find the gap on the off-side.

The fourth ball is short as Duminy pulls it square on the leg side for a four to get DD off the mark.

Malinga bowls the next full and gets a bit of swing as Duminy is beaten and struck on the pads but the LBW appeal is turned down.
19:58
A lot of attention would definitely be on local boy Zaheer, who has played a lot of matches at the Wankhede stadium, both in domestic and international cricket.

He had two spells at Mumbai Indians including last season before Delhi Daredevils bought him at the auction in February.

Infact, he was out for exactly a year after getting injured during the IPL last season.

The left-arm pacer made a good comeback taking two for 17 against Kings XI Punjab and conceded 31 runs in Delhi's last match against Rajasthan.

Overall, he has played 73 IPL matches, claiming 77 wickets with an economy rate on the higher side at 7.59.

19:29   Resurgent Mumbai Indians take on inconsistent DD
Welcome to the coverage of 39th match of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, on Tuesday.

High on confidence after their third consecutive win, Mumbai Indians will hold a clear edge over the inconsistent Delhi Daredevils.

The comprehensive 23-run victory over bottom-placed Kings XI Punjab at Mohali has given the resurgent MI the perfect shot in the arm to take on Daredevils who have blown hot and cold this season and were beaten convincingly by Rajasthan Royals on Sunday night.

Mumbai seem to have hit the right combination after the loss of a few key players due to injury and no-show but will be a tired lot after travelling to Mohali.

On the other hand, Daredevils, who had a poor game yesterday overall and fielded woefully, need to regroup quickly and take advantage of the travel-weariness of Mumbai.
