So, finally after a wait of nearly four and half hours, the umpires have decided to call off play for the day.

The second day's play has been washed out without a ball being bowled.

The match will start 15 minutes earlier, on Day 3, at 0915 hours IST, weather permitting that is.

The three umpires have gone around the boundary ropes to check out the conditions while also having a chat with the groundstaff. The rain continues to pour and a lot of water from the covers has gone on to the uncovered part of the outfield.

It shouldn't be long before play is called off for the day with no improvement in weather for the last few hours.

The lunch break has been taken at 1230 IST as per the revised schedule on Day 2 which means the entire morning session has been washed out.

The rain has not relented yet but the groundstaff have already started their work out in the middle, trying to remove the excess water on the covers.

The two supersoppers are in action too but the weather is not showing any signs of improvement.

Most of the crowd have braved the rain and stayed back, hoping for the play to begin but it looks unlikely at the moment.

The rain is quite heavy now and a lot of water is getting accumulated over the covers. The uncovered part of the outfield is taking quite a beating by the heavy downpour.

It has been raining non-stop for the last two hours and it is getting heavier by the minute.

The weather forecast is not encouraging either and chances of play getting underway on Day 2 look highly unlikely at the moment.

The spectators have turned up in good numbers in the morning and have stayed on, hoping for the rain to go away and play to start.

The rain is picking up and more covers are being brought out. The light has also faded considerably and it looks highly unlikely that we could have any play in the morning session.

The overhead conditions are not encouraging either with a lot of dark clouds hovering above the M Chinnaswamy stadium.

The rain has returned which means start of play will be delayed further.

Play was expected to start at 1030 IST but rain has come back forcing the covers to be brought out again.

Well, the covers have come off now and the players from both sides have started warming up. The umpires have announced that play will start at 1030 IST if there is no further rain which means an hour has been lost due to the light drizzle in the morning.

The revised playing time for Day 2 are as follows:

Morning Session: 1030 hours to 1230 hours

Post-lunch session: 1310 to 1510

Post-tea session: 1530 to 1730

Welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of the second Test between India and South Africa in Bangalore, on Sunday.

There is a very light drizzle because of which the start of the second day's play has been delayed. The pitch and surrounding areas is under covers while the groundstaff is already working on the other parts which are uncovered, ensuring play can start as soon it stops raining.

The umpires conducted an inspection and decided to wait till the drizzle stops to make an announcement on when the match would start.
