15:28   Ashwin spins India to series win as SA's nine-year run ends

- India win Nagpur Test by 124 runs

- India seal four-match Test series 2-0

- India end South Africa's nine-year unbeaten away run in Tests

SA 185-all out (89.5 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Harmer and Morkel have a slight misunderstanding nearly resulting in a run out before the former is sent back in time.

Harmer plays a nice drive through the covers off Ashwin where Vijay makes a good stop on the edge of the circle to save a certain boundary. In the next over, Harmer nudges Ashwin fine on the leg side for two runs before he tucks the next ball to fine leg for a single.

A low full toss is driven straight down the ground past mid-on for a boundary to get Morkel off the mark.

Ashwin ends the match as he bowls Morkel with the quicker one for four.

South Africa are bowled out for 185 in their second innings to lose the match by 124 runs.

India win the Test match and also clinch the four-match series 2-0 with one more match left in the series.

Ashwin finishes with seven for 66 in 29.5 overs, the best figures by an Indian bowler against South Africa. He took five-wicket hauls in both the innings to finish with 12 wickets in the match to help the hosts wrap up the match inside three days.
15:17   Ashwin gets 6th wicket, India one wicket away from victory

SA 177-9 (88 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Tailenders Simon Harmer and Kagiso Rabada out in the middle, having to contend against the two spinners getting a lot of turn and the odd bounce. Lot of 'oohs' and 'aahs' as Jadeja and Ashwin consistenly beat the two batsmen or induce the batsmen into a foul shot.

Rabada has had enough of the defending as he gives Ashwin and lofts him over mid-off as Jadeja scampers back but messes up an easy stop to give away a four. The left-hander then gets a leading edge which flies past Rahane at first slip, infact it went off very quickly and Rahane barely had time to react.

Kohli makes a change as Mishra is called into the attack in place of Jadeja but it is Ashwin who continues his wicket ways.

Rabada edges the off-spinner, straight into the hands of Rahane at first slip to fall for six as SA slip to 177 for nine.

Lastman Morne Morkel walks out to the middle with another 16 overs left in the day.
15:15   Ashwin gets 5th wicket, SA slip to 167-8

SA 167-8 (82 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ashwin is back and he will have a brand new cherry. He strikes immediately with the wicket of Duminy, who offers no shot to a straight delivery and is caught right in front of the stumps.

Duminy walks back for 19 as South Africa slip to 164 for seven in the 82nd over. Not many would bet against a Day 3 finish now!

He gets another wicket off the final delivery of the over as Vilas is caught down the leg side by Saha for 12.

That wicket helps Ashwin complete his second five-wicket haul for the match as India stand two wickets away from a series win.
14:52   Duminy falls for 19, SA lose 7th wicket

SA 160-6 (80 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ishant to resume proceedings after the tea break. The first ball comes in sharply to Duminy, who is struck on the pads but the LBW appeal is turned down. The fifth ball kicks off from length as Duminy somehow manages to keep it down before defending the last one.

Vilas and Duminy pick a single each before the former pulls a long hop from Mishra through midwicket for a four.

Ishant trying to the off-cutters past left-handed who defends the first five deliveries before turning the last ball on the leg side for one.

Mishra continues as Ashwin is held back after the tea break along with Jadeja, but it won't be long before we see the two back.

South Africa are 160 for six in 80 overs, with another 150 needed for victory. The second new ball has been taken as Jadeja is immediately called into the attack from the pavilion end.

14:15   Mishra's double strikes reduces SA to 151-6 at tea on Day 3

TEA - DAY 3

SA 151-6 (76 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Mishra in the midst of a good spell as Duminy edges one which falls short of Rahane at slip. But the next ball is full which Duminy hits through midwicket for a four.

Change from the other end as Ashwin replaces Jadeja. He bowls a full delivery down the leg side which Duminy sweeps fine for a four followed by three runs through midwicket.

Mishra bowls the final over of the session before tea is taken with South Africa on 151 for six in 76 overs, still needing 159 runs for victory with four wickets in hand.

Mishra brought the session back to life with the wickets of Amla and du Plessis as India struggled to get a wicket despite the spinners beating the bat countless number of times during the session.

This was easily South Africa's best session of the series so far and only the two late wickets spoiled it a bit. They scored 46 runs in 31 overs while losing two wickets in the post-lunch session when they looked to defend and stay at the wicket as long as possible.

SA 135-6 (72 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Du Plessis will hold the key for South Africa here, he is well settled and is looking quite comfortable as he proves by playing a lovely drive through the covers off Mishra for a four.

Mishra has a confident appeal for LBW turned down against Faf before the experienced leg-spinner gets his man off the very next delivery.

A short ball which Faf looks to pull stays very low and crashes into his stumps to send back the right-hander for a gutsy innings of 39 from 152 balls.

Both Amla and Faf fell for 39 each as South Africa lost two wickets in the space of 11 deliveries to be reduced to 135 for six in 72 overs, with another 175 needed for victory.
13:53   Amla and du Plessis perish, India back in control

SA 130-5 (70 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ishant comes into the attack as Ashwin gets a break. He beats Amla with a full delivery which comes in sharply and strikes the right-hander on the pads but the LBW appeal is turned down and rightly so because the ball was heading down the leg side.

The pitch is playing some tricks for fast bowler Ishant as one spits off length and hits Faf on the gloves, who does well to fend it on the off-side for one. Two balls later, he gets one to come in sharply as Faf is beaten comprehensively but the ball misses the stumps too as Ishant also tries the trick of bowling off-cutters.

Mishra, who beat the edge of the bat a few times for both batsmen, finally finds some luck.

Amla comes forward to defend but gets an edge which is neatly held by Kohli at point.

He walks back after a gusty innings of 39, he was at the crease for 219 minutes, facing 167 balls, hitting two fours. He was involved in a gritty stand of 72 runs from 281 balls in 173 minutes for the fifth wicket to lead a great fight back from South Africa.

They still have a lot of work to do, with another 180 runs needed for victory.
13:16   Amla, du Plessis lead SA's fighback to frustrate India

SA 126-4 (64 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

The first hour of the post-lunch session has been a rather sedate one, with not a single wicket falling in 19 overs in which South Africa have managed just 21 runs.

Run scoring is not a priority at the moment, with the focus just on surviving and grinding out the Indian bowlers into submission.

The pitch is still offering lot of turn but it has slowed down considerably and as Faf and Amla have proved once you get your eye in, it is difficult to get through the defences.

Ashwin was right on the mark in his assessment of the pitch on Day 2: "When you put your feet down and defend properly it is still quite a hard wicket to get through the defence. This wicket is getting sluggish by the day. It is pretty dry, it is pretty slow."
13:00

SA 122-4 (61 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

The odd ball is still turning big and beating the edge of the bat but other than that Amla and Faf doing well to get to the pitch of the ball and smoother the delivery.

South Africa are not worried about scoring at the moment with the two batsmen putting on 62 runs for the fifth wicket from 36 overs, with a scoring rate of under two runs per over.

This is an incredible fightback from the Proteas leaving the Indians frustrated who are throwing everything at them without much success.

Just three runs from the last five overs as SA reach 122 for four in 61 overs, needing another 188 runs for victory.
12:44

SA 118-4 (56 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

This is turning out to be a battle of attrition, with both teams not giving an inch. India's bowlers are keeping it tight while South Africa's batsmen are content to play the patience game and defending everything coming their way.

Ashwin bowling in a good channel and creating some problems for du Plessis, who survives a huge appeal for caught at short leg.

In the next over, Jadeja has another appeal for caught behind against Amla turned down.

Lot of appeals for catches and leg befores, a test for the umpires too out in the middle.
12:27

SA 113-4 (50 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Change of ends for Ashwin and Jadeja. The latter has a huge appeal for caught behind turned down against Faf, who looked to defend but was beaten by the big turn.

Jadeja is visibly disappointed as the umpire turned down the huge appeal involving all Indian players.

A misfield off the last ball at midwicket gives du Plessis two runs as South Africa take the score to 113 for four in 50 overs, with another 197 needed for victory.

12:23   Amla, du Plessis put on 50-run stand as SA fight back

SA 109-4 (47 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ashwin to start off proceedings after the lunch break. A huge appeal for LBW against Faf as the right-hander is lucky to survive with the impact just outside the off-stump.

Mishra from the other end. He starts with a full toss which Amla gladly flicks through midwicket for a four to bring up the 50-run stand of the match, from 187 balls.

SA are 109 for four in 47 overs, still needing another 201 runs for victory.
11:37   Amla, du Plessis rally South Africa to 105-4 at lunch on Day 3

LUNCH - DAY 3

SA 105-4 (45 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Amla-du Plessis stand proves that with a little bit of patience and application, it is not that difficult to survive on this wicket, which also slowed down considerably in the last two days.

Faf, who has struggled right through the series, seems to have got the measure of the pitch. The odd ball is still doing things but Faf doing well to fight it out in the middle and Amla at the other end has looked quite solid.

The duo manage to successfully take South Africa to 105 for four at lunch on Day 3, with anothe 206 runs needed for victory.

Faf is batting on 23 from 66 balls, while Amla is on 28 from 93 balls with the duo having added 47 runs in 131 balls in 83 minutes for the fifth wicket so far.

Ashwin and Jadeja bowled well in the morning session but once they were taken out of the attack, the Proteas batsman had no problems at all. Mishra did create a few chances and so did Ishant, but India will look at Ashwin and Jadeja to bowl majority of the overs after the lunch break.

It was a good session of Test cricket, with South Africa scoring 73 runs in 31 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Another hour of good batting in the post-lunch session could make the match more interesting. If India pick up a couple of quick wickets after the lunch break, the result will be a foregone conclusion.

11:25   Amla, du Plessis steady South Africa after early wickets

SA 103-4 (42 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Amla punches an over-pitched delivery from Mishra through the covers for two runs and repeats the shot off the next ball for the same result. Mishra gets one to turn big, taking the edge as Amla defends but Ajinkya Rahane at first slip is unable to take the catch as the ball goes past him for a couple.

Ishant comes back as Jadeja gets a break after a long first spell on Day 3. Du Plessis gets the edge as he tries to defend but the ball hardly bounces and carries along the turf between first slip and keeper for a four.

Mishra is not enjoying any luck. Another edge off Amla goes very low to Rahane at first slip who is unable to get down in time and take, maybe it was a bit short too.

India have given their two-best bowlers a break as Ishant and Mishra operate in tandem with not much happening for the bowlers.

Infact, du Plessis is getting better with more time spent at the crease. Mishra drops one short as Faf goes back and cuts him through point for a four.

Kohli realises that the two batsmen are looking comfortable as he brings back Jadeja and Faf immediately gives him the charge and lofts him straight down the ground for a six to take South Africa past the 100-run mark, in the 42nd over.

Instantly, Ashwin comes in from the other end as there is a huge appeal for caught behind down the leg side off the first delivery but Faf survives with the umpire not interested.

South Africa are 103 for four in 42 overs, with Amla on 28 from 83 balls and du Plessis on 21 from 58 balls with the duo having added 45 runs for the fifth wicket so far.
10:33   Ashwin dismisses AB de Villiers, SA's batting woes continue

SA 71-4 (31 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ashwin has three wickets from 11 overs, but Jadeja is yet to strike from eight overs. He nearly gets his first wicket as Amla goes for the cut shot but is beaten.

A fully packed leg-side field for Ashwin against Amla and Faf du Plessis, with just two fielders on the off-side in silly point and mid-off. Amla manages to get off strike with a single to square leg after Faf had taken one to midwicket from the first ball.

Faf is looking much more assured than he has ever looked in this series so far. He turns the third ball from Jadeja through midwicket for two runs before confidently defending the rest of the over.

Amla plays a wonderful shot through the covers as Ashwin bowls it full with slight width for a boundary before he is given a break after the over and makes way for leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

He gets Amla to edge the very first delivery but Saha (13) is unable to get his gloves to it as the tough chance goes down before he takes a single from the last ball of the over.

The first hour has gone India's way as South Africa lost two wickets for 39 runs in 17 overs to be reduced to 71 for four in 31 overs, still needing another 239 runs for victory with six wickets in hand.

10:17   Ashwin dismisses AB de Villiers, SA in trouble

SA 60-4 (24 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ashwin has finally got the big wicket of AB de Villiers, who is dismissed leg before wicket for nine.

Off the previous delivery, de Villiers charged down the wicket and was beaten in the air but somehow managed to keep the ball out using his pads.

However, Ashwin ended his innings but foxing him with the carrom ball, e which went straight one as AB played for the turn and was caught plumb in front of the stumps.

That has virtually ended any hopes if South Africa had any, as they are reduced to 58 for four in the 24th over, still needing another 252 runs for victory.

In walks the out-of-form Faf du Plessis, who gets off the mark with two runs on the off-side.
10:00

SA 52-3 (22 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

That wicket immediately prompts Kohli to bring on Jadeja from the other end. He leaves Amla gasping for breath, beating him with one which spins right across him after pitching on middle and leg stump.

AB de Villiers uses his feet against Ashwin but is forced to defend. He then shuffles across and looks to sweep but is beaten as Ashwin gets it to turn big before the right-hander gets off the mark with a single to deep square leg.

Amla gets an outside edge past the first slip fielder for two runs.

AB comes down the track to Jadeja and lofts him over mid-off for a four. South Africa ready to take a risk or two and unsettle the two spinners but the Indians surely won't mind it.

In the next over, he plays a nice drive through the covers off Ashwin for a couple before a huge appeal for LBW is turned down. AB comes down the track and is beaten in the flight and is forced to defend with the ball popping on the leg short of the close in fielders before he retains strike with a single to long-on.
09:49   Ashwin strikes early on Day 3, South Africa lose 3rd wicket

SA 40-3 (18 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Ishant opens the bowling for India on Day 3. The second ball cuts in sharply, beating Amla, who plays inside the line. There seems to be some swing for the pace bowler but Amla seems to be comfortable batting against him.

Ashwin comes on from the other end. He beats Elgar with one that turns big before the left-hander gets a thick outside edge to point for a single.

Ishant getting good movement as Elgar is beaten outside the off-stump but edges the next ball which falls short of the fielder at second slip.

A quiet start to the morning as South Africa looking to defend everything bowled at them.

Elgar breaks the shackles as he slog sweeps Ashwin over midwicket for a six. Some positive intent from the South Africans but that was a risky shot and if he had missed it, that could have proved to be very costly.

Ashwin gets his revenge two balls later as Elgar is caught at silly point for 18. He looked to defend but got an inside edge which is taken by Pujara as Elgar walks back disappointed.

It does not take long for the Indians to strike as Ashwin strikes in the fourth over of the day.
09:12   NZ win toss, bat first in maiden day-night Test
A historic moment for cricket as the first day-night Test match kicks off in Adelaide.

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and chose to bat first against Australia on Friday in cricket's inaugural day-night Test match at Adelaide Oval.

Australia, who lead the series 1-0, have already retained the Trans-Tasman trophy following the draw in Perth, but both teams will be eager to etch their names in the record books as the first to win a Test played under floodlights.

New Zealand also have a proud record to defend, having not been defeated in seven Test series since 2013 under McCullum.

Although both teams have played warmups under lights with the specially developed pink ball, the match is something of a leap into the unknown.

Batsmen have reported problems seeing the ball clearly at twilight and the bowlers will hope to exploit that during the later sessions.

- Scorecard: Australia vs New Zealand, 3rd Test

09:10   India sense victory, SA face daunting task on Day 3

SA 32-2 (14 ovs); Target: 310 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the third Test between India and South Africa in Nagpur, on Friday.

India need eight wickets to clinch the four-Test series against South Africa after their spinners, led by Ravichandran Ashwin, wreaked havoc on a turning track on the second day of the third test on Thursday.

Shot out for 79 in their first innings earlier in the day, South Africa returned to chase a 310-run victory target on a manic day when 20 wickets tumbled on a fast-deteriorating surface at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

The tourists, who trail the four-Test series 1-0, were 32-2 at stumps, having lost opener Stiaan van Zyl and nightwatchman Imran Tahir, and facing an embarrassing defeat inside three days.

Dean Elgar (10) and captain Hashim Amla (three) were unbeaten at the crease.
