21:35   India-SA 3rd T20 called off because of wet outfield
With the conditions at the Eden Gardens showing no signs of improvement, the umpires have decided to call off the match because of a wet outfield.

South Africa emerge the 2-0 winners in the three-match series following victories in the first two games, in Dharamsala and Cuttack.

Despite the supersoppers being used for the last few hours, the condition of the outfield did not improve enough for the match to begin.

The two teams will clash in the five-match ODI series, starting in Kanpur on Sunday, October 11.

The wait continues as the umpires decide that the conditions are still not good enough for the match to get underway.

They will conduct a third inspection of the conditions at the Eden Gardens at 2130 hours IST.

The cut-off time for the match to get underway is 2215 IST.

The umpires are checking out the conditions in the middle. There seems to be concern with some areas in the outfield especially in the parts where the supersoppers are working currently on.

If it doesn't rain we could have a start later in the evening!

It should not be long before we hear from the umpires on when play could start.

19:33   Updates: Rain delays start of 3rd India-SA T20 in Kolkata
Welcome to the coverage of third and final Twenty20 International between India and South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, on Thursday.

The news is not so encouraging as far as the cricket is concerned with the start of play delayed because of rain.

South Africa have already clinched the three-match 2-0, having won the first two games in Dharamsala and Cuttack.

There is a fair amount of water on the outfield because of a heavy spell of rain in the afternoon which means there won't be play anytime soon.

The umpires will conduct an inspection of the conditions at 1930 IST.
