Pune T20! Sri Lanka beat India to reclaim top ranking

An inexperienced Sri Lanka has surprised India in Pune and usurped the no.1 ranking in T20s.

India have now slipped to third following the defeat.

India make the first bowling change in the seventh over, Ravindra Jadeja replacing Nehra (3-0-21-2). He gives away only three runs first up. 

It's a twin bowling change, Hardik Pandya replacing Bumrah (3-1-6-0) in the attack in the eighth over. Kapugedera welcomes him with a boundary. 

After 10 overs, Sri Lanka 48 for two. 

R Ashwin is introduced in the 12th over. He strikes with his third ball, having Kapugedera (25) out leg before.

Jaspreet Bumrah to bowl the second over. He bowls a fantastic over first up, a maiden. 

Gunathilaka eases the pressure with a massive six over square leg, off Nehra.  However, the bowler has the last laugh, having Gunathilaka caught by Dhawan at mid-on. 

Chamara Kapugedera is the new man in.

Niroshan Dickwella and Danushka Gunathilaka to open the batting for Sri Lanka and it will be Ashish Nehra first up for India. 

Dickwell helps himself to a boundary in the second ball, but Nehra gets him out caught by Dhawan next ball.

Nehra (6) succumbs immediately after, Chameera having caused by Siriwardana. Jaspreet Bumrah is run out as India are all out for a paltry 101, with seven deliveries still left to be played.

Chameera strikes in his second over, catching Yuvraj (10) off his own bowling. After 10 overs, the Indian innings is in tatters, at 54 for six. 

The perennial problem with the seaming ball contiues.

Sri Lanka make their first bowling change in the sixth over, Sachitra Senanayeke replacing Perera (2-0-8-0). Yuvraj Singh welcomes him with a six over long-on. 

It's twin changes, Dushmantha Chameera replacing an impressive Rajitha (3-0-23-3) in the seventh over. He gives away just two runs first up. But he is taken off after just one over, Dasun Shanaka replacing him in the ninth. 

Shanaka is unlucky as Siriwardana puts down Raina (on 18) at deep square leg. But the bowler does it himself in the next ball, getting past Raina's (20) defense.

Captain MS Dhoni walks in with India in all sorts of trouble. A couple by him helps India reach the 50-run mark. And that's about it as he is caught behind off the next ball.

Rajitha is unlucky as Gunathilaka puts down a sitter at third man, when Raina was yet to open his account. 

The debutant is in the midst of an impressive spell. 

Perera bowled a maiden first up but Dhawan smashes the first ball of his second for a huge six over midwicket. 

Raina attacks Rajitha in the latter's third over, first hitting a boundary towards short fine leg and following it up with a big six over midwicket. 

However, the bowler comes back well to have Dhawan (9) caught by at third man, Gunathilaka making no mistake this time. 

After five overs, India tottering at 32-3.

However, Rajitha has him out immediately after, caught by Chandimal at short extra cover. 

Suresh Raina comes in earlier than expected.

The news is Sri Lanka have won the toss and invited India to bat first. 

"It's grassy, we need to get early wickets and put them under pressure," reasoned captain Dinesh Chandimal.
