India win by 9 wickets!

India win three-match T20I series 2-1

India 84-1 (13.5 ovs) vs SL 82 | Scorecard

No boundaries for the last three overs but India are not at all bothered. They content to take the easy singles on offer and get to the target without any further hiccups.

Senanayake completes his spell as he concedes four runs in his final over to finish with no wickets, while giving away 22 runs in his four overs.

Gunaratne bowling slow medium pacers, looking to mix his pace but India are happy to pick three singles from his second over.

Part-timer Dilshan comes into the attack. The off-spinner also keeps it quiet, giving away four runs with both Rahane and Dhawan managing to find the gaps at will to pick up easy singles.

Rahane drives a full delivery from Gunaratne straight down the ground for two runs followed by a single.

Dhawan looks to paddle it fine but gets a top edge which goes over the keeper for two runs.

Sri Lanka just seem to be going through the motions and are happy to see the Indians do it in singles.

But Dhawan has had enough. He goes after Gunaratne and lofts a full delivery over mid-off for a six to raise the 50-run stand and drives the next ball through the covers for a four to take India to victory.

Dhawan finished unbeaten on 46 from as many balls, while Rahane made 22 as India literally cruised untroubled to the target, winning with 37 balls to spare.

Sri Lanka never recovered from Ashwin's magical spell with the new ball, as he claimed three wickets in his first two overs before finishing with splendid figures of four for eight in four overs.

21:41   India set for easy win after SL fold for 82

India 58-1 (10 ovs) vs SL 82 | Scorecard8

Leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna comes into the attack in place of Senanayake, who bowled three overs for 18 runs.

Dhawan looks to sweep a full delivery but is struck on the pads as a confident appeal for LBW is turned down. He is trying to unsettle the spinners with the sweep shot but so far has not been very convincing.

Chameera generating good pace and getting some bounce too. Rahane pulls a short ball through square leg and picks two runs followed by a single off the next. India keep the scoreboard moving as they pick three singles from the next three balls as gently cruise towards the target.

Left-arm spinner Milinda Siriwardana comes into the attack. Two singles from the first two balls before Dhawan reverse paddles it fine for a four followed by three more singles to make it nine runs from the over.

Medium pacer Asela Gunaratne is called into the attack. He makes a tidy start, conceding just four runs as India are content to play it safe.

India are cruising towards victory as they reach 58 for one in 10 overs, needing another 25 from the remaining 10 overs for victory.

21:26   Rohit out for 13, India lose 1st wicket

India 35-1 (6 ovs) vs SL 82 | Scorecard

Dhawan being very watchful with his shot selection. After three dot balls from Fernando, he makes a short ball on the leg side, pulling it fine for a four and retains strike with a single from the last ball.

Senanayake continues as Dhawan picks a single from the first ball. Rohit gets into the thick of things as he comes down the track and lofts the second ball over mid-on for a huge six. He again chips down the track but this time the bowler adjusts well and Rohit drives it down the ground for a single.

First bowling change for the visitors as Dushmantha Chameera comes into the attack. The first ball is on the leg side as Rohit helps it round the corner, for a boundary fine on the leg side.

However, the bowler gets revenge from the very next delivery with the wicket of Rohit, who is trapped leg before wicket for 13.

Rohit is caught on the crease to a full straight delivery as he looks to play it across the line but misses it completely.

A glimmer of hope for Sri Lankans as they get Rohit cheaply, however, they don't have much of a score to defend.

Ajinkya Rahane gets off the mark with a splendid boundary, cutting a short wide delivery over the point fielder for a four to get off the mark in some style.

Despite that wicket, India are off to a good start, scoring 35 for one in six overs with Dhawan on 16 and Rohit on four. They need another 48 runs in 14 overs at under 3.5 runs per over.

20:46   Ashwin takes 4 to send Sri Lanka crashing for 82

SL 82-all out (18 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Chameera defends the first three balls from Jadeja before he slog sweeps the fourth ball over the leg side for a four. He makes room and somehow taps the next ball on the off-side for a single to get five runs from the over.

Jadeja finishes with good figures of one for 11 in four overs on a wicket which offered a lot of assistance to the spinners.

Bumrah comes back as Raina is taken off despite taking two wickets in his previous over.

After trying a few slower balls, Bumrah bowls the deadly yorker which comes in sharply to break through Fernando's defences to bowl him for one.

Sri Lanka are bowled out for a paltry 82 in 18 overs with only two batsmen managing to score in double digits. Shanaka was the top scorer with 19, while Perera made 12 while the rest of the Sri Lankan batsmen failed to come to grips with the wicket offering a lot of assistance to the spinners.
20:36   Raina's double strikes cripples Sri Lanka further

SL 74-9 (16 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Bumrah, who has three overs in hand, comes back. Senanayake takes a single from the first ball before Perera looks to heave it over the leg side but fails to make proper connection.

Two balls later, he is beaten by the slower one outside the off-stump before he takes a single from the fifth ball as just two runs come from the over.

Raina comes back and he gets the wicket of Senanayake, caught behind for eight.

That appeal was not convincing though but umpire Anil Chaudhary gives that out and Senanayake looks angry as he makes his way back.

Two balls later, Raina gets the wicket of Perera for 12 as Jadeja comes up with a superb catch, running to his left at sweeper cover.

Dushmantha Chameera gets two singles in the over while Dilhara Fernando blocks the last ball of the over.
20:26   Ashwin claims 4 wickets as SL struggle with the bat

SL 69-7 (14 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Perera has a lot of experience of playing in Indian conditions having in the IPL for a few seasons.

Two singles from the first two balls before Perera punches a wide delivery through the covers for his first boundary.

Pandya attempts a slower ball but ends up giving away a wide as he gives away nine runs in his second over.

Dhoni looking to finish off the fifth bowler's quota as part-timer Suresh Raina is called into the attack. The first ball goes straight, a rare sight today, before he beats Senanayake with one that turns a lot.

He strokes the next ball through the off-side for two runs and picks a single on the leg side two balls later as three come from Raina's first over.

Ashwin, who picked four wickets in his first spell, comes back. Senanayake slog sweeps the first ball over midwicket for just a single. Dhoni showing a lot of confidence in Ashwin as he employs two slips to the left-hander Perera, who flicks the third ball to long-on for one.

Senanayake goes after a wide delivery but manages to drag it on to the leg side for one before Perera defends the last two balls.

Ashwin finishes with amazing figures of four for eight in four overs, India's best bowling figures in T20 Internationals.

Sri Lanka are struggling on 69 for seven in 14 overs.
20:17   3rd T20I: Sri Lanka lose 7th wicket, India in control

SL 54-7 (11 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Jadeja ends Shanaka's struggles as the right-hander inside edges it back on to his stumps to be bowled for 19.

Shanaka is the only Sri Lankan batsmen to score in double digits. He struggled in the last over against Jadeja and looked to get off the strike with a steer to thirdman but only managed to deflect it on to the stumps.

Sachithra Senanayake defends the rest of the over as Jadeja registers a wicket maiden to leave Sri Lanka in further strife at 54 for seven in 11 overs.

Jadeja and Ashwin have combined taken five for 11 in six overs, including two maiden overs.
20:13   Prasanna run out for 9, Sri Lanka lose 6th wicket

SL 54-6 (10 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Spin from both ends as part-timer Yuvraj Singh comes into the attack. The third ball is a high full toss as Shanaka hoists it over midwicket for a six and the umpires call it a no-ball, gifting Sri Lanka a free hit.

Shanaka makes most of the free hit, lofting it straight back over the bowler's head for another six, to make it 13 runs from one delivery.

Just when they were looking to get their innings back on track, Sri Lanka lose another wicket. And it is the quick reflexes of Jadeja at mid-off which gets the wicket of Prasanna run out for seven to reduce Sri Lanka on 48 for six in eight overs.

Yuvraj went for 15 runs in that over, easily Sri Lanka's best of the innings but that wicket dented them further.

Jadeja has a huge appeal for LBW turned down against Thisara Perera, who is beaten all ends up as he looks to defend.

The ball is turning big as Jadeja squares Shanaka with one that pitched on leg stump and ended up way outside the off-stump beating the right-hander's intended defensive push.

He has no clue to the next two deliveries which again turn a long way past the outside edge of the bat.

All-rounder Hardik is called into the attack. Perera drives the first ball on the leg side for a single and Shanaka does the same off the next for another run.

Two more singles as Pandya makes a tidy start, giving away just four runs.

At the halfway stage, Sri Lanka are struggling on 54 for six in 10 overs with Shanaka on 19 and Perera on three.

19:59   Ashwin claims four wickets to leave SL in a mess

SL 33-5 (7 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

The wickets continue to tumble for Sri Lanka as Nehra joins the party with the wicket of Sririwardana.

The left-hander played all over a straight delivery only to miss and see his stumps shattered. That delivery looked to have kept a bit blow but Siriwardana was also guilty of playing a reckless despite his team losing a few early wickets.

Sri Lanka won't hold back. Seekkuge Prasanna makes his intentions clear as he picks up Nehra off his pads over square leg for a four to get off the mark.

A horror start for Sri Lanka, who are struggling on 29 for five in six overs.

Ashwin gets a break after that sensational start as he makes way for Ravindra Jadeja.

The left-hander gets Dasun Shanaka to edge one which also beats Dhoni and goes fine past the first slip fielder for a four. Two balls later, he again beats the right-hander but this time no edge before he manages to see off the rest of the over.
19:53   Ashwin claims fourth wicket as Sri Lanka collapse

SL 20-4 (5 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Just one over for Nehra with the new ball as he makes way for young Jasprit Bumrah.

Gunaratne is beaten outside the off-stump as Bumrah gets it to move away and is unlucky not to get the edge.

He plays a few dot balls before steering the fifth ball to thirdman for a single before Milinda Siriwardana pulls the last ball in commanding fashion over midwicket for a four to get off the mark in grand style.

Ashwin bags another wicket, his fourth of the innings, as Gunaratne is caught at leg slip for four.

Another batsmen who walks back shaking his head and quite rightly so as the ball seems to have gone off his thigh pad.

The new ball is offering a lot of spin to Ashwin, who has dominated, to leave Sri Lanka in a real mess at 20 for four after five overs.

Ashwin has bowled a wicket maiden, and has amazing figures of four for five in three overs.

19:53   Ashwin takes third wicket to leave SL in shambles

SL 15-3 (3 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Ashish Nehra to bowl the second over. The first ball is full and swings in as Chandimal is struck on the pads but Nehra's appeal for LBW is turned down.

Two balls later, Chandimal gets off the mark in some style as he smashes a short wide delivery through the point region for a four.

Two balls later, he chips down the track to the left-armer and lofts it over mid-on though not convincingly and gets a four in the process followed by a single from the last ball.

Ashwin strikes again in his next over and this time it is the big wicket of Chandimal. The Sri Lankan captain comes down the track and looks for a big shot through the off-side but mistimes it and is caught on the off-side.

Sri Lanka in total shambles at 12 for three, in the third over.

Asela Gunaratne is dropped at leg slip as he gets a glove down the leg side by Suresh Raina is unable to hold on.

The right-hander plays a risky sweep shot and gets two runs in the process to get off the mark followed by a single.
19:36   Dream start for India as Ashwin claims two wickets in first over

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to open the bowling for India. Sri Lanka have another new opening pair in Niroshan Dickwella and Tillkaratne Dilshan, their third in three matches of the series.

Dickwella comes down the track to the first delivery and taps it on the leg side for one and Dilshan gets an inside edge on the leg side for another single to get off the mark.

Dickwella again comes down the track but this time is beaten in the flight as Dhoni completes an easy stumping.

A dream start for India as Ashwin strikes in the very first over of the match!

Dinesh Chandimal has a huge shout for LBW turned down before he looks to sweep and is beaten but manages to steal a leg bye.

Dilshan is beaten off the last ball and this time the umpire upholds another confident appeal for leg before wicket.

Dilshan is unhappy as he walks back again shaking his head as Sri Lanka find themselves in early trouble at three for two after the first over.

19:18
Buoyed by an overwhelming victory in the previous game, a resilient India would look to continue the momentum and seal off their second successive T20 series win in Vizag.

India shrugged off their embarrassing defeat in opening T20 match in Pune with a commanding show in Ranchi, where they outclassed the island nation by 69 runs to level the series.

The Indian batsmen had struggled to cope with the 'green' track in Pune but adjusted well on a slow strip at Ranchi, where they did not put a foot wrong.

The bowlers, too, were in complete control, never letting the Sri Lankan batsmen dominate. Moreover, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy was impressive and all his experiments, be it reshuffling of the batting order or bowling tactics, paid off.

India not only mastered the conditions but also executed their plans to perfection.
19:16   Unchanged India elect to bowl vs SL in series decider
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his boys would look to bring some cheer back to the cricket fans in the country following the Indians Under-19 team's shocking loss to West Indies in the final.

Except for Sarfaraz, no other batsman could fight it out in the middle.  They hardly recovered from the early blows that pacer Alzaari Joseph inflicted in the start.

A clinical performance from the Windies. Skipper Hetmyar's bowling changes and field placements have been impressive as they employed pressure at all times.
