19:43   Rahul hits century on debut as India crush Zimbabwe in 1st ODI

INDIA WIN BY 9 WICKETS!!!

India 173-1 (42.3 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Masakadza comes back into the attack. The Indian batsmen continue to play with ease as they take four easy singles, as they decide to avoid any big hits and inch their way to victory slowly and steadily without any heroics.

Rahul has his best and last chance to get to his century, he is on 90, and with India needing seven, he can hit a four and a six and make it a double celebration.

But Rahul decides to take the sensible approach and continues to pick singles without trying to take any risks.

Two runs off Masakadza behind square on the leg side takes him to 94, and just a blow away from his century, and interestingly India just need two runs.

Rahul ends it in grand style, clubbing a length delivery over the leg side for the first six of the match to bring up his century on his ODI debut in grand style and also steer India to a crushing nine-wicket victory, with 45 deliveries to spare.

Rahul is the first Indian to hit a century on his ODI debut as he finishes unbeaten on a wonderful innings of 100 from 115 balls, hitting seven fours and a six.

Rayudu played a good hand, scoring 62 from 120 balls, as the duo were involved in an unbroken stand of 162 runs for the second wicket to take their team to victory and a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

India 158-1 (40 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Raza drops one short as Rahul smashes it back past the bowler for a four as India's cruise towards victory continues with Zimbabwe also not willing to try something different and make a match out of it.

Rayudu gets a lifeline as he is sent back halfway down the track but the fielder at midwicket misses the direct with the batsman well out of his crease.

Rahul smashes a full delivery from Masakadza over the off-side for a four followed by two runs. Another single takes his score to 87 and makes him India's highest scorer on his debut in One-Dayers, going Robin Uthappa's 86 which he had made against England, in Indore, in 2006.

Interestingly, Rahul is on 88, needing another 12 runs for the coveted landmark of a century on debut, while India also need 11 runs for victory. So there is a possibility, but he will need to hit a few big blows to get there!
19:06   Rahul, Rayudu hit 50s to put India in control

India 137-1 (35 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

The scoreboard is moving at a steady rate with not many boundaries coming and Zimbabwe's bowlers are also not creating any problems either as the match drifts towards a dull finish.

On a wicket where stroke making is not easy, India's batsmen have been content to bide their time and ready to work hard for their runs.

Part-time spinner Sikandar Raza is called into the attack as he gives away four singles with India reaching 117 for one in 30 overs.

Rayudu gets some momentum back as he pulls a short ball from Cremer over midwicket for a four, which also takes him past the 1000-run mark in ODIs.

There is not much happening in the field but the spectators have kept themselves entertained with a lot of singing and dancing in the stands.

A moment of celebration for Rayudu, who brings up his half-century from 93 balls, while Rahul is on 72 from 87 balls.

While Cremer has gone for 42 runs in eight overs, part-timer Raza has kept it tight, giving away nine runs from three overs.

India are well placed on 137 for one in 35 overs, with another 32 needed from 15 overs for victory.

The match has become quite predictable and the result looks a foregone conclusion. Both Rahul and Rayudu are keen to stay till the end and score as many runs as possible, cutting down on their stroke play in the last half an hour or so with the run rate also taking a dip.

India 103-1 (26 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Chatara manages to bowl a maiden over to Rayudu, who has been aggressive in the last few overs but can only defend the medium pacer, who keeps it on a good line and length.

Cremer, who was taken for runs in his previous over, makes a good comeback as he gives just three singles, in his fourth over.

Pacer Muzarabani is called back into the attack as Rahul and Rayudu pick five easy singles off his fifth over, to get past the 100-run mark, in the 26th over.
18:28   Rahul hits fifty on debut to put India in control

India 95-1 (23 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

The two Indian batsmen have decided to target Chigumbura, who went for 26 runs in his first three overs.

Rahul plays a risky cut shot, which just about clears the fielder at point and Rayudu also does the same with the fielder at mid-off.

But he smashes the next ball straight back over the bowler's head for a confident boundary.

In the next over, Rayudu comes down the track to Chatara and plays the inside out lofted shot for a four as India's batsmen make their positive intent quite clear.

Leg-spinner Cremer comes back and Rahul hits him for back to back fours through the off-side before a single from the fourth ball helps him raise his half-century, from just 57 balls.

India have also managed to get their run rate over the four-runs per over as they advance their score to 95 for one in 23 overs, with another 74 runs needed from 27 overs for victory.
18:14   Rayudu, Rahul put India in control

India 69-1 (20 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Elton Chigumbura comes into the attack. Rayudu drives a full toss to sweeper cover for one before Rahul chops a short ball over point for two runs and then sees off the rest of the over.

Rayudu takes a couple of steps down the track to Chibhabha, who has troubled him with some movement but the pacer continues to keep it tight.

Chigumbura gifts Rayudu a wide half-volley who manages to release the pressure by crashing it through point for a four. Four more singles helps India bring up their 50-run mark, in the 17th over.

Rahul hits another boundary in Chigumbura's next over, cutting a short ball past point for a four and gets two from the next ball fine on the leg side.

Rayudu plays a beautitful drive through the covers but gets two runs and he repeats the shot off the last ball, this time with slightly better timing, for a four to get 15 runs from the over.

At the other end, Chibhabha has been quite with the ball conceding just nine runs from six overs.

India are in complete control of the run chase at the moment, as they reach 69 for one in 20 overs, with exactly 100 needed from 30 overs for victory.

Rahul has looked good, scoring 36 from 51 balls, while Rayudu has shaken off a nervy start to reach 22 from 49 ablls.
17:44   Rayudu, Rahul steady India after an early wicket

India 37-1 (14 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Chibhabha bowls a superb second over, as he beats Rayudu three times with some late movement. Rayudu plays inside the line and is lucky not to have edged any of those three deliveries as Chibhabha bowls the first maiden of the Zimbabwe innings.

Rahul and Rayudu doing well to take five singles off Cremer's second over to ensure that the scoreboard kept moving despite not getting boundaries.

Chibhabha bowls another good over, conceding just three runs, for overall figures of just four runs given from his three overs.

India are content to play it safe as they reach 37 for one in 14 overs, with 10 runs coming from the last four overs. They need another 132 from 36 overs at an asking rate of 3.6.
17:26

India 27-1 (10 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Rahul gets his first boundary as he smashes a short wide delivery from Chatara through the covers for a four. He keeps strike with a single from the last ball of the over.

In the next over, Rahul is beaten as he chases a wide outgoing delivery from Muzarabani but plays another cracking cover drive a few deliveries later.

Ambati Rayudu takes his time to get off the mark, with two runs on the off-side off the ninth ball he faces.

Medium pacer Chamu Chibhabha comes into the attack. Rahul goes after his first delivery but is beaten before he takes a quick single on the off-side and Rayudu does the same two balls later.

India have made a cautious start as they reach 27 for one in 10 overs.

17:16   India lose early wicket after Zimbabwe post 168

India 11-1 (5 ovs) vs Zim 168 | Scorecard

Both Rahul and Nair not looking in any rush as they look content to play the singles and get their eye in, while ensuring that they don't give away an early wickets.

A single each of the third and fourth over as Zimbabwe's bowlers look to keep it tight and the pressure seems to pay off finally.

But it is a poor delivery that causes Nair's dismissal as he tries to cut a short ball but ends up hitting it straight to Raza on the off-side to walk back for seven.

So, even India have struggled at the start as they are reduced to 11 for one in five overs.

16:02   Bumrah sends Zimbabwe crashing for 168

Zim 168-all out (49.5 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Bumrah shows why is so difficult to get away in the final overs as he bowls a string of good yorkers with both Cremer and Chigumbura getting only four singles in the 46th over.

In the next over, Cremer walks across his stumps and tries the paddle scoop but misses and is bowled for eight.

Kulkarni also picks a wicket in his final over to finish with two for 42 in 10 overs.

In the next over, Chigumbura (37) is caught at deep midwicket off Bumrah but the pacer has overstepped. So not only does Chigumbura get a lifeline but he also profits from a free-hit.

Tendai Chatara can't make most of the free hit as Bumrah bowls another yorker to keep it down to a single.

Even in the death overs, Zimbabwe are struggling to get the boundaries as India's bowlers continue to impress.

Chatara throws his bat at Sran, in the 49th over but fails to make connection for three deliveries in a row. He takes one from the fifth ball before Chigumbura pulls a slower bouncer on the leg side for two runs.

A good outing for Sran, who ends with two for 42 in 10 overs.

Bumrah strikes again in the final over. This time he bowls Chigumbura with the incoming delivery as he plays all over but misses to be dismissed after scoring 41 from 65 balls to add some respectability to Zimbabwe's total.

Chatara has a wild swing but ends up holing a high catch which is taken by Ambati Rayudu.

Bumrah finishes with career best figures of four for 28 as Zimbabwe are bowled out for a lowly 168 in 49.5 overs.

A disappointing batting performance by Zimbabwe as only Chigumbura (41) got past the 40-run mark, while Raza made 23 and Ervine scored 21.

For India, all their five bowlers were among the wickets with Bumrah taking 4-28, while fellow pacers Sran and Kulkarni claimed two wickets apiece and spinners Axar and Chahal took one each.
15:34

Zim 148-7 (45 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Chahal is finally rewarded for his good bowling with a wicket in his final over. A wicket on debut for Chahal as Mutumbami is caught at long-off for 15 by another debutant KL Rahul. The right-hander went for a big shot but failed to get enough elevation and distance and paid the price.

Chahal finishes with excellent figures of one for 27 in 10 overs in his first appearance in international cricket.

Dhawal, who has two overs in hand, comes back for another spell. Three singles from the first three balls before captain Cremer pull a short ball for a four as seven come from the over.
15:19

Zim 131-6 (42 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Chahal, who has three overs in hand, come back. He continues his impressive showing with the ball, giving away just two singles before Bumrah is called into the attack from the other end.

Richmond Mutumbami cuts a short ball over the point region for a four but is beaten attempting the same shot later in the over.

The normally-positive Chigumbura has been quite watchful, scoring just 20 from 41 balls, with Zimbabwe struggling to 122 for six in 40 overs.

In the 42nd over, Dhawal bowls a good bouncer to Mutumbami, who looks to pull but is beaten down the leg side. The appeal for a catch behind down the leg side is turned down and rightly so with the replays showing the ball might have hit the helmet.

With the overs fast running out, Zimbabwe need one of the two batsmen to start playing a few shots as they reach 131 for six in 42 overs.
15:11

Zim 116-6 (38 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Left-arm pacer Sran is back for his second spell. Raza cuts the fourth ball through point for two runs followed by two singles.

Just two singles from Axar's final over, who finishes with superb figures of one for 26 in 10 overs including a maiden. He was instrumental in keeping Zimbabwe's batsmen tied up in the middle overs and never let them off the hook.

Sran strikes in his eight over as Raza throws his bat at a wide delivery but only ends up dragging it back on to his stumps.

Raza is bowled for 23 as Zimbabwe are reduced to 115 for six in the 38th over.
14:54

Zim 109-5 (35 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Axar, who has taken one for 20 in seven overs, gets a rest as Dhawal comes back.

Raza breaks the shackles as he pulls the first ball from the pacer over midwicket for a four. Three more singles help Zimbabwe cross the 100-run mark, in the 32nd over.

Axar rushes through another good over, a maiden, as Zimbabwe's sorry batting show continues. The early flurry of wickets means that they can't even attempt to take a risk or two and end up losing wickets and not have anything for the end.

After 35 overs Zimbabwe are 109 for five, with Raza on 19 from 43 balls and Chigumbura on 17 from 35 balls.
14:40

Zim 91-5 (30 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

The two spinners, Chahal and Axar, bowling superbly in tandem as they dry up the runs to build up the pressure in the middle overs while also racing through their overs.

Zimbabwe finally manage to get a boundary and it is courtesy of an edge as Axar tempts Raza to drive a wide one but he gets an edge which flies fine on the off-side for a four.

Two balls later, Raza survives a close shout for leg before wicket as Axar sends down another good over.

Even Elton Chigumbura gets a streaky boundary as the edge off Chahal goes low, beating the fielder at first slip for a four.

Both Axar and Chahal rushing through their overs quickly as Zimbabwe's batsmen look to play it safe.

The visitors are scoring barely over the three runs per over mark, as they struggle to 91 for five in 30 overs.
14:18   India's bowlers leave Zimbabwe in shambles

Zim 77-5 (24 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Chahal, playing in his first international match, has settled into a nice rhythm. He is giving it a lot of flight and pitching in the right areas as the Zimbabwe batsmen can only defend him or get singles off him.

Even Bumrah has been miserly and quite effective from the other, giving away just 13 runs in his first six overs.

The Zimbabwe innings is going nowhere, with just 10 runs coming from the last five overs with both Sikandar Raza and Ervine content to play it safe.

Ervine looks to break the shackles but only ends up giving his wicket away. Axar comes back for his second spell and is lucky to get a wicket as Ervine pulls a short ball straight into the hands of the fielder at deep midwicket to walk back for 21.

Zimbabwe's struggle continues as they slip to 77 for five in 24 overs.
14:05   Bumrah's strikes leave Zimbabwe in tatters

Zim 70-4 (20 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Axar bowls a good first spell of three over, giving away just 11 runs before he makes way for debutant leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

Ervine and Sibanda play the leggie's first over quite sensibly, picking up four easy singles.

Bumrah, meanwhile, makes it worse for Zimbabwe as he picks up another wicket. Sibanda looks to cut loose after a slow start as he looks to slash a short wide delivery but is beaten by the extra edge as he edges it behind to Dhoni to walk back after a poor innings of five from 21 balls.

Bumrah has sensational figures of two for 12 in five overs, including two maidens to leave Zimbabwe struggling on 70 for four in 20 overs.
13:46   Zimbabwe lose 3rd wicket, India on top

Zim 49-3 (15 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Both the Indian pacers have near identical figures with Dhawal taking one for 15 in his five overs, while Sran claiming one for 16 in his five overs with Zimbabwe struggling to 32 for two in 10 overs.

Dhawal is taken off that wicket taking over as he makes way for Jasprit Bumrah. The youngster oversteps the first ball and starts off with a no-ball but Craig Ervine is unable to make most of the free hit as the pacer bowls a good full delivery.

Bumrah makes up for it as he bowls a good tight first over, giving away just three runs.

A long first spell for Sran as he continues to bowl his sixth over on the trot. Left-hander Ervine is beaten by one which moves away before he pulls the last ball down the ground for a four.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel comes into the attack, replacing Bumrah, as he starts with a tidy over, giving away just three singles.

Change of ends for Bumrah and the move pays off. He strikes with the first ball of his second over, with the wicket of Chibhabha, who is bowled after a struggling innings of 13 from 42 balls.

Superb bowling from Bumrah, who bowls a wicket-maiden as India continue to keep up the pressure on the hosts.

Vusi Sibanda taps Axar on the off-side for a single to get off the mark from the ninth ball he faces.

It has been a struggle for Zimbabwe as they reach 49 for three in 15 overs.
13:16   Masakadza dismissed for 14, Zimbabwe lose 2nd wicket

Zim 30-2 (9 ovs) vs India

Sran has attempted quite a few short balls as he keeps mixing his length. This time Masakadza gets over the bounce and pulls it through the leg side for the first boundary of the match, in the seventh over.

In the next over, Masakadza lofts Dhawal over the leg side for a boundary as Zimbabwe look to rally after a slow start.

However, the Mumbai pacer cripples the hosts further with the key wicket of Masakadza, getting him caught behind by Dhoni for 14. A beautiful outswinger from Dhawal, moving away late as the right-hander looks to defend but only manages to get an edge.

Zimbabwe are left struggling on 30 for two in nine overs with Chibhabha not out on eight from 26 balls.

12:59   Zimbabwe struggle after early wicket against India

Zim 16-1 (5 ovs) vs India

Dhawal getting good movement with the new ball as he keeps it on a good line and length with both Chibhabha and Hamilton Masakadza looking to be cautious after that early wicket.

Sran's inswing is again give the batsmen some problems. This time Chibhabha is beaten before he gets an inside edge which nearly goes on to his stumps.

Zimbabwe must consider themselves lucky not to have lost more wickets with the new ball with both seamers getting considerable movement.

Dhawal continues to keep it tight, giving away just two runs from his third over as Zimbabwe struggle to 16 for one in five overs.
12:47   Sran strikes early, Moor dismissed for three

Zim 8-1 (2 ovs) vs India

The expeirenced Dhawal Kulkarni to open the bowling for Zimbabwe, with Peter Moor and Chamu Chibhabha opening the batting for the hosts.

Moor gets off the mark with a single from the first ball as the thick edge goes to thirdman with Dhawal getting good movement right at the start. Chibhabha steers the fifth ball through point for three runs while Moor hits the last ball through the off-side for two runs as six come from the first over.

Left-arm pacer Barinder Sran to bowl the second over. He starts with a cracking delivery as Chibhabha is beaten by a full incoming delivery and struck on the pads right in front of the stumps but the umpire turns down the huge appeal.

But he strikes with the last ball of the over as once again the incoming delivery does the trick. Moor is struck on the pads this time as this time the umpire rules in favour of the bowler.

A superb first over from Sran as Zimbabwe are reduced to eight for one in two overs.

India have fielded three fast bowlers in Dhawal Kulkarni, Barinder Sran and Jasprit Bumrah, while Chahal and Axar Patel are the two spinners.
