Pune 35-1 (5 ovs) vs Punjab 172-7 | Scorecard

Sandeep also makes the mistake of bowling on Rahane's pads, his strong area, as he again flicks it behind square for his third four. Three more singles from the over as Sandeep goes for seven runs in his second.

Mohit is taken off after an expensive start as he makes way for Kyle Abbott. Three runs from the first three balls including a leg bye before Rahane is beaten outside the off-stump trying to steer it to thirdman.

But he makes good connection off the next, smashing a short ball square on the off-side for a cracking boundary.

Sandeep continues, bowling his third over on the trot. And he makes the breakthrough with the wicket of Rahane, who looks to tickle it fine but gets an edge and is caught down the leg side by a diving Saha.

Rahane walks back for 19 as Pune are reduced to 35 for one, in the fifth over.

George Bailey, who was the Kings XI Punjab captain last season, walks in to bat at No. 3 against his former team.

He starts off cautiously with two dot balls to end a good over from Sandeep, conceding just one runs. The pacer has good figures of one for 14 in three overs.
