INDIA WIN BY 190 RUNS, CLINCH SERIES 3-2!

NZ 79-all out (23.1 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

India thrashed New Zealand by 190 runs in the fifth and final ODI in Visakhapatnam to clinch the ODI series 3-2.

Amit Mishra claimed 5-18 to send New Zealand crashing for 79 in 23.1 overs in reply to India's 269 for six.

Axar claimed the final wicket, that of Santner, who is bowled for four as the Indian spinners sent the hapless Kiwis crashing on a turning track.

The Indian spinners led by Mishra claimed eight of the 10 wickets to fall with New Zealand losing eight wickets for 16 runs in the space of 56 deliveries.

19:28   Mishra claims 5th wicket to trigger New Zealand collapse

NZ 76-9 (22 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

What a stunning collapse as New Zealand are reduced to 74 for eight after being placed at 63 for two at one stage. The visitors have lost six wickets for 11 runs in the space of 35 deliveries with Mishra claiming four for 18 in five overs.

New Zealand look in a rush as Sodhi goes for the slog sweep but gets a top edge and is caught by Rahane behind the stumps.

Sodhi becomes the fifth NZ batsmen to fall for a duck in this innings, with only Williamson (27) going past the 20-run mark.

Three slips in place for Mishra, who is bowling beautifully at the moment but lastman Trent Boult manages to defend the last two deliveries.

Mishra acknowledged his coach Anil Kumble after completing his five-wicket haul, who has worked a lot with the leg-spinner since taking over.

Superb figures for Mishra: 6-2-18-5

19:18   India's spinners leave NZ in a mess

NZ 74-8 (20 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

Debutant Jayant Yadav comes into the attack, to bowl the 17th over. Neeesham turns the fourth ball on the leg side for two runs while blocking the rest of the over.

In his next over, the off-spinner bags his first wicket in ODIs as Corey is trapped leg before wicket for a duck. The left-hander played down the wrong line, missing a straight one to be trapped plumb in front.

The wickets are tumbling in a heap for the Kiwis. Mishra bowls another big spinning delivery which spins back sharply to bowl Neesham for three with NZ collapsing to 74 for seven, in the 20th over.

New Zealand are going down in a heap. Tim Southee has a wild swing but is beaten by Mishra and Dhoni whips off the bails in a flash to stump him for a duck.

19:03   Mishra's double strike leaves NZ in tatters

NZ 66-5 (16 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

Mishra makes it worse for the Kiwis with the wicket of Taylor, who is caught behind for 19 as Dhoni takes a sharp catch behind the stumps.

Two big wickets in the space of seven deliveries leave New Zealand tottering on 66 for four, in the 16th over.

Mishra bowls BJ Watling with a superb delivery, a googly which beats the right-hander all ends up to bowl him for a duck. The previous delivery was a well flighted leg spinner and the next came in sharply with Watling playing for the turn.

New Zealand in tatters, having being reduced to 66 for five after 16 overs.

NZ 64-3 (15 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

Patel goes one to turn big beating Taylor's defensive poke before he takes a single to long-off from the fourth ball.

Spin from both ends as leg-spinner Amit Mishra comes in from the other end. The first ball is short as Taylor cuts it behind point for a couple and then takes one followed by three more singles to make it six from the over.

In the next over, Axar drops one short as Williamson plays the cut shot for a four but the spinner gets revenge in the next over.

Williamson (27) falls in exactly the same fashion as Kohli. He comes down the track to Axar and tries to play the inside out lofted shot which he mistimes and Jadhav takes a good running catch to his left at long-off.

NZ in trouble at 64 for three in 15 overs, with 206 needed from 35 overs for victory.
18:49   Williamson dismissed for 27, NZ in trouble

NZ 46-2 (10 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

Yadav has struggled with his line and has been guilty of bowling too many loose deliveries. He overpitches and offers Williamson some width as he plays his trademark cover drive for another four. Instantly, Dhoni asks his bowler to cut the length a little bit short. But Yadav bowls it a lot shorter and Williamson rocks back and hits it through the covers for the second four of the over.

Bumrah continues to bowl well, keeping it tight and building the pressure and also make up for Yadav's leaking runs from the other end.

Taylor gets off the mark from the fourth ball before Williamson defends the last two balls as just a single comes from the over.

Bumrah has given just 10 runs from his four overs, while Yadav has conceded 28 runs in the same number of overs.

India introduce spin early as left-armer Axar Patel comes into the attack, who makes a good start as he concedes just two runs.

Taylor has struggled throughout the India tour and has only managed to score some runs in the last few games. He looks keen to get going as he smashes a wide delivery from Bumrah through the off-side for a four as NZ reach 46 for two in 10 overs.

18:21   Latham out for 19 as NZ openers perish cheaply

NZ 28-2 (6 ovs) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

Jasprit Bumrah back in the side will bowl the second over. Substitute Mandeep Singh makes a superb save in the covers to stop a certain four from Jasprit Bumrah before the Kiwi skipper takes one.

Tom Latham turns the fifth ball on the leg side for two runs and then takes a single.

In the next over, Latham flicks Yadav through the leg side for two runs and repeats the shot a few deliveries later.

Yadav drifts further on the left-hander's pads as he clips it square on the leg side for a four.

In the next over, Williamson plays a delightful shot through the covers for a four after he had been beaten two deliveries earlier trying to play the same shot.

Yadav bowls another poor delivery on the leg side as Latham flicks it fine on the leg side for another four. He then gives Latham the width and he plays another cracking drive through the covers for the second four of the over.

Latham looks to repeat the leg side flick against Bumrah but is too early into the shot as he gets the leading edge and is caught at mid-on for 19.

New Zealand are reduced to 28 for two in six overs.

18:12   Yadav strikes early, Guptill dismissed for a duck

NZ 5-1 (1 ov) vs India 269-6 | Scorecard

Umesh Yadav gives India a dream start with the bat with the wicket of Martin Guptill in the very first over, who is bowled for a duck.

Yadav gets enough late movement as Guptill plays down the wrong line to the outswinger and is bowled.

Kane Williamson turns the first ball he faces square on the leg side for two runs to get off the mark.

He edges the next ball which falls short of the fielder at first slip and gets one to thirdman.

17:25   Rohit, Kohli guide India to 269 in series decider

India 269-6 (50 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Rohit Sharma (70) and Virat Kohli (65) hit half-centuries as India posted 269 for six against New Zealand in the series decider in Visakhapatnam.

Jadhav contributed with an unbeaten 37 from 36 balls in the final few overs, while Axar smashed 24 from 18 balls with India scoring 22 from the last two overs to post a competitive total.

Boult (2-52), Sodhi (2-66) were the two most successful bowlers for the Kiwis, but Santner was easily their best bowler with one for 36 in 10 overs.
17:22

India 269-6 (50 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Boult comes back and he starts with the slower ball as Jadhav is beaten again as he has another wild swing. Axar mishits it towards long-off as he attempts a straight lofted shot but gets two runs in the process.

New Zealand's pacers bowling the slower balls at the death with the odd fast ball in between.

No boundaries in the last three overs as Boult concedes just six runs in his ninth over with India struggling to get the required momentum in the last few overs.

Axar swings Southee on the leg side but picks just a single on the deep and Jadhav pulls it to deep midwicket and again for just one.

Axar gets the much-needed boundary as he smacks a slower ball from Southee straight down the ground for a six. He nudges the last ball to short thirdman for one as 11 come from the 49th over to take India past the 250-run mark.

Jadhav finally gets one off the middle, as he comes down the track and smashes Boult over long-on for a six.

Boult bowls a slower yorker which crashes through Axar's defences to bowl him off an inside edge. A good innings from Axar, who hit a quickfire 24 from 18 balls, putting on a quick stand of 46 from 39 balls for the sixth wicket with Jadhav.

Debutant Jayant Yadav sensibly takes a single off the fifth ball to bring Jadhav back on strike, who hits the last ball to long-on for two runs off the final ball of the innings.
17:06

India 241-5 (47 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Anderson comes back for a new spell. Just four singles from the first five balls before Axar Patel spoils the over by glancing the last ball fine on the leg side for a four.

Neesham comes on from the other end. Jadhav gets a lifeline as Neesham misses the stumps at the striker's end with the batsman looking for a quick single but is sent back.

He gets two runs from the next ball courtesy of an overthrow before he can't beat the next ball.

A lot of slower balls seen today as Neesham gives just five runs in the 46th over.

Jadhav pulls a short ball from Southee but Guptill at deep square leg stops a certain boundary and keeps it down to just two runs.

Southee bowls a very slow bouncer which slips down the leg side and Jadhav misses with the fine pull on the leg side. He beats him again with the slow leg break as Jadhav goes hard again, this time outside the off-stump.

New Zealand have given away just 52 runs in the last 10 overs while picking up three wickets.

Just five runs from the Southee over as India reach 241 for five in 47 overs with Southee on 26 from 29 balls and Axar on 10 from nine balls.
16:54   Kohli falls for 65, India lose 5th wicket

India 223-5 (44 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Kohli takes a single on the leg side off Southee to bring up India's 200, in the 41st over. Jadhav pulls the third ball to deep midwicket for two runs before he ducks under a slower bouncer. He pulls the next short ball which is again slower as he hits it awkwardly on the leg side for one before Kohli keeps strike with one from the last ball.

Santner to finish off. Jadhav is beaten by one which turns right across him before he cuts a short ball behind point for his first boundary and then takes a single.

Kohli turns the last ball through midwicket as the bowler himself runs across to stop it but can't prevent the batsmen from stealing two runs.

Santner finishes with good figures of one for 36 in 10 overs, playing a big role in keeping Indian in check in the middle overs.

Southee bowls a slower bouncer as Kohli who has already come down the track plays a tennis style smash for a single on the leg side.

Jadhav comes down the track and smashes Southee past mid-off for a four before the pacer deceives him with another slower bouncer which slips down the leg side. Two singles from the last two balls make it eight runs from the over.

Williamson takes a gamble as he bring back leg-spinner Sodhi to bowl the 44th over. He strikes with his very first ball with the big wicket of Kohli, who is caught at long-off after a good innings of 65 from 76 balls.

Kohli came down the track and tries the inside out lofts but is unable to get the desired elevation and distance as Guptill runs to his left at long-off and takes an easy catch.

Sodhi has gone for some runs but redeemed himself with a couple of wickets to finish with two for 66 in 10 overs.
16:36   Dhoni and Pandey perish as India lose way

India 199-4 (40 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Sodhi comes back and starts with a short ball which Kohli punches through the covers for a four and then takes a single.

Manish Pandey fails to make it count as he attempts to slog sweep the leg-spinner but holes out to the fielder at deep midwicket to walk back for a duck.

A poor shot under the circumstances from the youngster especially considering that Kohli had got a four already from the first ball of the over. He also needed to keep in mind that Dhoni had fallen in the previous over but he played a reckless shot to gift his wicket away.

One man's loss could be another man's opportunity. No better platform for Kedar Jadhav to prove his mettle with the bat, he has already done well with the ball but needs to do more with the bat.

He takes a single as Santner sends down another good over, giving away just three runs with India reaching 199 for four in 40 overs with Kohli unbeaten on 58 from 68 balls.
16:26   Dhoni dismissed for 41, India lose 3rd wicket

India 190-3 (38 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Santner comes back and the Indians are being watchful against the left-arm spinner, taking three easy singles against him.

They do the same against New Zealand's best bowler Boult, who is called back for another spell as three runs come from the 37th over.

Kohli brings up his fifty with a single off Santner in the 38th over but before the Indian fans at the stadium could celebrate they are shocked by the dismissal of Dhoni off the very next delivery.

Kohli looks to play the sweep but misses and is trapped leg before wicket for 41 from 59 balls.

New batsman Manish Pandey will need to produce a good innings to keep his place in the ODI team. With just 12 overs to come, he doesn't have much time, but he has to make most of his opportunities.
16:12

India 183-2 (35 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Sodhi continues as India continue to go after him. This time Dhoni smashes it over long-off for his second six and then hits Southee for a four off the first ball of the next over.

Anderson comes back and drops a tough chances on his follow through to his right as Dhoni chipped it straight back.

The next ball is short as Dhoni rocks back and pulls it through square leg for a four before tucking it behind square for two runs.

New Zealand continue to rotate their bowlers, using the pacers in short bursts. This time Boult comes back as the Kiwis eyes another wicket with the Dhoni-Kohli starting to grow at an alarming rate in the last few overs.

India are perfectly set up for the final assault, having reached 183 for two in 35 overs.

Kohli has paced his innings quite well to reach 45 from 54 balls, while Dhoni has recovered a slow start to score 40 from 52 balls.

15:50   Kohli, Dhoni drive India forward in middle overs

India 154-2 (30 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Mahendra Singh Dhoni gets off the mark with a single off Neesham on the off-side and Kohli picks one off the fourth ball as just two come from the over.

Good thinking by Kane Williamson as he brings on spinners from both ends against Dhoni, who has struggled to get going against the slow bowlers in the middle overs.

Sodhi comes back and bowls a tight over, giving away three runs, including three straight dot balls to Dhoni, in the 24th over.

Another couple of dot balls for Dhoni against Santner in the next over as he is again slow to get going, with just three scored from 11 balls.

Infact, in the quest to take singles, Kohli nearly loses his wicket as he responds to a risky single from Dhoni but luckily the fielder inside the circle on the leg side fails to collect the ball cleanly.

While he is struggling to get the boundaries, Dhoni is even finding it hard to rotate the strike, having scored just seven singles from 21 balls faced, including 14 dot balls.

The crowd seems to be getting impatient with a few quiet overs in the middle. Dhoni breaks the shackles as he puts a giant stride forward and plays a rare sweep for a four behind square on the leg side.

Kohli decides to do something about the lack of runs in the last few overs. He comes down the track to Sodhi and lofts him straight back over his head for a six.

Dhoni has suddenly decided to change gears as he smashes it powerfully and flat back over the bowler's head for a four.

India are looking on course for a huge total as they reach 154 for two in 30 overs with Kohli on 40 from 47 balls and Dhoni on 16 from 29 balls.
15:33   Rohit dismissed for 70, India lose 2nd wicket

India 119-2 (22 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Kohli also joins in the party as he comes down the track to Anderson and drives him nicely through the covers for a four.

Rohit looks to swing the fifth ball but gets an inside edge fine on the leg side followed by two more singles as India go past the 100-run mark, in the 19th over.

With Rohit struggling with some sort of injury and finding it difficult to run between the wickets, he is looking to chance his arm and score some boundaries instead of retiring with an injury.

Boult comes back as New Zealand show their desperation to break this partnership, which has gained a lot of momentum in the last few overs.

India sensibly play out Boult by collecting six singles in the 20th over with the score advancing to 110 for one.

Rohit is dealing in boundaries as he steers Neesham through the gap between short thirdman and point for a four. Rohit (66) swings a slower ball on the leg side but Ross Taylor at short midwicket puts down a straightforward chance. The veteran batsman has not made much of a contribution with the bat and has also looked quite lacklustre on the field.

Boult makes the breakthrough with the key wicket of Rohit, who was looking to smash every ball.

He top edges the pull shot from the left-arm pacer which falls safely but the next ball flies to Neesham to deep midwicket as Rohit attempts the same shot again.

Rohit walks back after a good innings of 70 from 65 balls, having hit five fours and three sixes, adding 79 runs for the second wicket with Kohli.

15:04   Rohit hits fifty as India recover after Rahane's wicket

India 95-1 (18 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

While Santner has been bowling tight, with the Indian batsmen content to play it safe against him, they are looking to be positive against Sodhi.

Kohli, on 8, gets a lifeline as he smashes one straight back but Sodhi can't take a sharp return catch on his left. If you remember, Kohli was dropped on 6 in the third ODI in Mohali, and he made the Kiwis pay big time by hammering a match-winning 154 not out. It remains to be seen how much scores today, but New Zealand won't breathe easy till he is dismissed.

Rohit comes down the track and lofts Sodhi straight back over his head for his second six and gets two runs from the last ball to the thirdman region.

Corey Anderson comes into the attack, replacing Santner, who bowled a good first spell of three overs for 10 runs.

Four singles from Anderson's first over before Rohit again goes after Sodhi. He hits the third ball through point for a four to bring up his fifty, from 49 balls. He slog sweeps the last ball of the over high over the midwicket fence to continue his attacking approach against Sodhi.
14:39

India 71-1 (15 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

New Zealand introduce spin immediately at the end of the 10 overs of Powerplay. Mitchell Santner nearly strikes in his first over as Santer gets one to turn to big, hitting Rohit on the pads but it quite clearly pitched out the leg-stump and that is what saved the Indian opener.

A good start from Santner as he gives away just two singles in his first over.

Rohit looks like getting back to his good form as he slaps a short ball from Neesham over mid-off and it carries all the way for a six.

Santner is creating some problem for the two batsmen. This time Kohli nearly chips it back to the left-arm spinner but it falls just a bit short.

Spinners from both ends as leg-spinner Ish Sodhi comes into the attack. The fourth ball is short as Rohit pulls it through the leg side for a four before he cuts the next past point for two runs.

India are looking good on 70 for one in 15 overs with Rohit on 35 from 39 balls and Kohli on eight from 12 balls.
image
14:21   Rahane dismissed for 20, India lose 1st wicket

India 45-1 (10 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

The two New Zealand seamers have started off quite well with just 18 runs coming from the first six overs but India would be happy to see that their openers have been to hang around and not give away an early wicket.

Jimmy Neesham comes into the attack, replacing Southee, who bowled three overs for 12 runs. He gives away four runs and a wide to concede five runs from his first over.

Rahane breaks the shackles as he lofts Boult over the off-side for a four before the left-arm pacer bowls a big wide on the leg side which beats the keeper and goes for five wides.

Interestingly, Southee comes back after just one over from Neesham. Rahane takes a single to long-on before Rohit turns it to deep midwicket for two runs followed by a single.

Change of ends for Neesham as he replaces Boult, who bowled a tidy first spell of four overs for 18 runs.

And the move works as Neesham strikes with the wicket of Rahane, who flicks it straight to midwicket to be dismissed for 20 from 39 balls.

Virat Kohli gets off the mark with a single on the leg side before Rohit crashes the last ball square over the point region for a four as India reach 45 for one in 10 overs.
13:54   India off to a steady start against NZ in Vizag

India 17-0 (5 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Finally Rohit Sharma gets on strike, against Southee in the third over of the innings. Southee gets the edge but it falls short of the fielder at first slip as Rohit plays a loose shot away from his body.

Rohit decides to release the pressure by going down the track to Southee and lofts him over mid-off for a four.

The next ball comes in as Rohit is struck on the pads but the ball looked to be slipping down the leg side.

Boult switches to round the wicket as he comes on to bowl the second over. The aim is to keep it on the stumps and not give any width to the two batsmen, who are very good through the off-side.

Boult has once again made a tidy start, giving away just a single in his second over, for a total of just five runs in two overs.

Just three runs from Southee's next over as India reach 17 for no loss in five overs.
13:43

India 9-0 (2 ovs) vs NZ | Scorecard

Mumbai duo of Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma walk out to open the batting for India with the hosts hoping for a good score around the 300-run mark on a wicket looking full of runs.

The experienced Tim Southee to open the bowling for New Zealand. The second ball is certainly a Diwali gift by Southee to Rahane, short and wide as the right-hander crashes it through the covers for a four to get off the mark in cracking fashion.

He defends the rest of the over before keeping strike with a single from the last ball of the over.

Rahane repeats the shot in the next over bowled by Trent Boult, again getting a wide ball through the gap in the covers for his second four.

13:21   Indian team to sport their mother's names on their jerseys
Interestingly, the Indian players will be sporting their mother's name on their jerseys in the fifth match to acknowledge their contributions in their careers.

Here, is Ajinkya Rahane posing with his jersey with the name of his mother 'Sujata'.
