It is stumps on Day 1 of the second Test at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. New Zealand have scripted a brilliant comeback by picking four quick wickets in the last session. 

Pujara, Rohit, Rahane and Ashwin were out in a quick succession. 

Pujara (87) and Rahane (77) played very well after India lost three quick wickets in the first session. 

The first and final session belonged to the visitors, while India had the second session. 

Matt Henry (3 wickets) and off-spinner Jeetan Patel (2 wickets) did the most damage for the Kiwis. 

Ashwin's 26 was crucial later in the day. 

Dhawan, Kohli, Vijay and Rohit were out in the single digit.

Appeal for LBW and the umpire raises his finger. Ravichandran Ashwin has to depart for a well-made 26. 

India have lost four quick wickets in the form of Pujara, Rohit, Rahane and Ashwin.

Rahane departs immediately after India lost Rohit and Pujara. 

Rahane missed a straighter one from off-spinner Jeetan Patel with the ball hitting his pads right in front of the stumps. 

He scored a vital 77 for India. 

India have lost three top batsmen in a quick succession now. 

Patel claims his second wicket.

Rohit Sharma departs after making only 2 runs. He lost his concentration after that injury he suffered while diving to prevent a run-out. 

He tried to work it on the leg-side but failed to keep it down with short-leg taking an easy catch.

Lack of concentration from Pujara. He misses out on a well-deserved century. Pujara departs for 87 after being dismissed by Wagner. 

He played a drive on the up and gave an easy catch to Guptill on covers.

It's tea on day 1 of the second Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. 

A solid session for India as Pujara and Rahane see the hosts through without losing any wicket. 

The Kiwis had picked three quick wickets in the first session. 

Pujara (64) and Rahane (47) will look to take India past the 200-run mark in the final session of the day.

It has been a typical Pujara innings in which he has showcased impeccable concentration and stroke-play.

50 up for India but the hosts have lost three crucial wickets which includes skipper Kohli. 

Pujara is playing well on 31. Henry was pick-of-the-bowlers for the Kiwis picking both the Indian openers. 

Dhawan, Vijay and Kohli were all dismissed for single-digit scores.

The Black Caps are celebrating after seeing the back of India's captain Virat Kohli. 

Trent Boult claims the wicket as Kohli departs for 9. He chased at a wide off-side ball to give a catch to gully.

Loose shot from Kohli as his poor run in the series so far continues.

A good start for New Zealand. Matt Henry played a key role, dismissing both the Indian openers. 

Pujara is looking steady for his 22 not out with Kohli in company.

That's a massive blow for India. Murali Vijay edges one to the wicket-keeper as Henry picks his second wicket.

Vijay managed only 9 runs. 

A superb delivery from the Kiwi pacer to force an edge. 

Henry has created plenty of chances for the Kiwis with some close LBW appeals and going past the outside edge on several occasions.

A solid shot through the off-side from Pujara to score his third boundary. Vijay follows it with a stylish punch off the back-foot in the next over. 

NZ pacers have created many chances with some close LBW appeals. 

Remember, the Kiwis are without their main batsman and skipper Kane Williamson.

Over-pitched on the leg-stump and put away by Pujara to score his first boundary. He follows it with an elegant straight drive to score consecutive boundaries.

First boundary of the Test match comes in the fourth over. Vijay eases it through the off-side.

For New Zealand, pacers Matt Henry and Trent Boult are bowling well here on a Eden track which has some grass. 

NZ are playing with three pacers (Neil Wagner) and two spinners (Santner and J Patel) in this Test.

India's captain Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bat first in the second Test against New Zealand at Kolkata. 

Shikhar Dhawan comes in for an injured KL Rahul. Gautam Gambhir misses out. 

Also, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaces Umesh Yadav.

It is also India's 250th Test at home.  

Most importantly. a victory at Eden Gardens will put India back at No 1 in the Test rankings.

India vs New Zealand, Kolkata

Good morning, welcome to our coverage of Day 1 of the second Test match between India and New Zealand at Kolkata on Friday. 

After trailing 0-1 in the series, the Kiwis have suffered a major blow losing their skipper Kane Williamson to illness. 

Senior batsman Ross Taylor will lead the visitors. 

For India, the team management will have to make an important call between two Delhi batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan to decide who will open with Murali Vijay. 

Former India captain and CAB President Sourav Ganguly had said that the Eden track will not be turning too much from the first day itself. 

Skipper Virat Kohli will be looking to an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning this match in the 3-match Test series.
