IPL updates: Gujarat Lions beat KKR by 4 wickets

Coulter-Nile back in the attack and gives eight runs off the first three balls.

Lions now need 33 off 24 runs and it looks very possible now.

Umesh Yadav welcomed with a huge six by Raina. A slower ball and Raina sends the ball flying over the mid-wicket.
Raina gets lucky, he chops the ball into the pitch, ball bounces but misses the stumps.
What a shot! Raina cuts the ball through point for a boundary.

Kuldeep Yadav unlucky, Suresh Raina gets an inside edge but misses the leg stump ever so slightly and runs away for a boundary.

Umesh Yadav finally brought into the attack and Dwayne Smith is looking to attack and up the ante.
Smith is yorked by Umesh Yadav.
An inside edge into the pads and the ball crashes into the stumps, sending Smith back into the dugout.
Gujarat five down and in trouble now.
Ravindra Jadeja replaces Smith in the middle.

Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum open the batting for Gujarat Lions and with over 9 runs per over needed they have a job at hand.
Finch gets a single and then McCullum hits Shakib Al Hasan straight down the ground for the four of the innings.
McCullum cuts the ball and gets a boundary through deep cover.
Nine runs in the opening over and that is a good start for the Lions.

Suryakumar Yadav takes a single, Yusuf Pathan takes strike.
Hits the ball straight down, two runs a possibility, Suryakumar sees it and hares down the pitch for another run but is sent back by Pathan, only to be run out.
Seven runs come off the last over and end with 187 for 5 off their alloted 20 overs.
Manish Pandey is bowled all ends up by Thampi. Thampi bowls right in the block hole and through Pandey's defences.

He follows that up with a boundary -- he swings his arms and a once bounce four near long-off.
Another boundary for Yusuf, this time on the leg side.

Basil Thampi comes back into the attack and is thumped from the word go.
Uthappa first goes inside out and send the ball to the deep long-on boundary. One bounce four.
Uthappa then hammers the full toss for a maximum over deep mid-wicket!
Uthappa lucky to be given not out. It looked like the ball would crash into the stumps.
14 runs come off the over. But a good comeback in the over by Thampi after giving away 10 runs off the first two balls.

Thampi's miscued yorker becomes a full toss and allows Uthappa to send the ball to the fine-leg boundary.

19:45 Suresh Raina calls right, wins toss and elects to field
Welcome to the updates of match 23 of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Lions.
Gujarat captain Raina has won the toss and his team will bowl first.
Both teams have made changes to their sides. While KKR have made one change, the Lions have made two changes to their squad.
With two home and two away wins from five matches, in-form KKR are on a roll, quite contrast to the campaign of Gujarat who finished the league stages on top last season but are yet to find their rhythm this year with just one victory from their first five games.
There has been no individual hero for KKR in their journey so far and every player is backing each other which not only helped them overcome hurdles but also played a key role in their smooth campaign so far.
On the other hand, nothing is going right for the Suresh Raina-led Gujarat Lions -- be it their batting or bowling, especially the spin department which has let-down the team badly.
In the last match against Delhi Daredevils, KKR's Yusuf Pathan and Manish Pandey built a quick 110-run partnership to set up the four-wicket win.
For the Lions to roar, their top-heavy batting order must first win in unison against a consistent KKR bowling attack.
It's still early days but the bottom-placed Gujarat Lions will hope to rise to the ocassion and fire in the away match to move up the points table.
