Meanwhile, Dhawan puts in a full length dive at point to save a boundary and concede just a single as six runs come from the over.

Chahal, who has one over left, comes back. He is unlucky not to strike with the final delivery as Kapugedera throws his bat at a wide one but gets an edge which wicketkeeper Dhoni is unable to catch and it goes away fine for a four to bring up Sri Lanka's 200, in the 43rd over.

Chahal put in another impressive showing with the ball to finish with two for 43 in 10 overs.

He also starts with a short ball but Siriwardana manages to get the pull over midwicket for a four. He goes short again but this time much quicker as the umpire calls it wide for height.

The left-hander flicks the next ball for a couple through midwicket and then takes a single.

Pandya tries the short as Mathews pulls but can't beat the fielder at midwicket and he does the same off the next ball before showing his frustration at not being able to make most of the two short balls.

Mathews then punches a full delivery down the ground for a four to finally break the shackles followed by a single to take Sri Lanka to 90 for three in 20 overs.

Mathews drives Axar down to long-on for one before Mendis drives the next through the covers for a couple and then turns the last ball on the leg side for another single.

India trying to build the pressure by drying up the runs and force Mendis and Mathews, who are naturally aggressive players, to commit a mistake by trying to break free.

Mendis succumbs to the pressure as he looks to sweep Chahal but misses and is struck right in front of the stumps. The umpire immediately rules him out leg before wicket and Mendis decides to take the review but the on-field umpire's decision stays with the ball going on hit the stumps.

The last ball is again on the pads and this time the left-hander manages to glance it fine for a four to take Sri Lanka past the 50-run mark, in the ninth over.

New batsman Kusal Mendis is beaten by Bumrah as he gets the edge but it falls short of wicketkeeper Dhoni. Good bowling by the pacer as he sends down a maiden with Sri Lanka reaching 52 for one in 10 overs.

India introduce spin rightaway after the end of Powerplay as leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal comes into the attack. Gunathilaka turns the first ball on the leg side for one before Mendis drives it straight down the ground for a single. Two more singles as four runs come from the leggie's first over.

Another change as all-rounder Hardik Pandya comes into the attack, replacing Bumrah, who bowled an excellent first spell of one for 21 in five overs, including two maidens.

He starts with a bouncer before Mendis takes a single from the third ball. He tries another short ball but this time it is called a wide for height as Gunathilaka comfortably ducks under, who then takes a single.

A good over from Chahal as he concedes just a single. He tries to entice Mendis with a few flighted deliveries but the right-hander refuses to take the bait... not yet.

SL 41-1 (8 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Dickwella continues his attacking approach, this time he plays a nice drive through the covers for a four against Bhuvneshwar, who makes a good comeback by keeping the left-hander quiet for five balls in a row.

Bumrah checks Sri Lanka's charge with the key wicket of Dickwella, who is caught by Dhawan after a quickfire 31 from 24 balls.

The left-hander is foxed by the slower ball from Bumrah as he tries to chip it over the leg side but Dhawan does well to judge the catch over his head.

14:57   Dickwella gives Sri Lanka a good start

SL 36-0 (6 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Dickwella takes on Bumrah as he makes room and flays the pacer square on the off-side for a four. The next ball is short and this time the left-hander pulls it over the fine leg region for a six followed by a quick single.

Bhuvneshwar, who went for runs in his previous over, makes a good comeback as he concedes just three runs in his third over. The experienced pacer does well to mix his pace and keep the batsmen guessing.

However, Bumrah continues to suffer. He tries the short ball but Dickwella whips it over the fine leg region for a six using the bottom hand to good effect.

He continues to shuffle around the crease. This time, Dickwella looks to make room but can only defend the yorker from Bumrah before he takes a single from the last ball.

Sri Lank off to a good start as they race to 36 for no loss in six overs with Dickwella smashing 27 from just 15 balls.
