SL 114-3 (20.4 ovs) vs India 112 | Scorecard

India's batting line-up flopped big time in the absence of Captain Virat Kohli as the hosts suffered a humiliating seven-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka in the first ODI in Dharamsala.

Put into bat, India were shot out for a lowly 112 in 38.2 overs. The experienced Mahendra Singh Dhoni saved them the blushes with a fighting knock of 65 after the top and middle order collapsed, which saw them reeling on 29 for seven at one stage.

Pacer Suranga Lakmal was the wrecker-in-chief as he picked up four for 13, while Nuwan Pradeep claimed two for 37.

Sri Lanka lost a couple of early wickets before Upul Tharanga's positive batting got their innings back on track.

Tharanga, who was caught for 11 off a no-ball by Jasprit Bumrah, made India pay dearly for the reprieve as he smashed a quickfire 49 from 46 balls.

Dickwella slammed 26 from 24 balls, while Mathews hit a steady 25 as the two batsmen carried Sri Lanka to an easy victory.

Sri Lanka registered their first victory in ODIs after six months, to end their losing streak of 12 games.

The next match will be played in Mohali on Wednesday, December 13.
