Captain Rohit Sharma smashed his way to a third double century in ODIs to help India crush Sri Lanka by 141 runs to level the three-match series at 1-1, in Mohali, on Wednesday.

Rohit hit a brilliant 208 not out from 153 balls, hitting 12 sixes and 13 fours, to power India to a mammoth 392 for four in their 50 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan had given India a flying start as he stroked 68 from 67 balls as Rohit took his time initially to get his eye in.

The young Shreyas Iyer kept the run flowing in the middle over as he hit a quickfire 88 from 70 balls.

In reply, Sri Lanka never posed a challenge with the bat despite Angelo Mathews hitting an unbeaten 111 as the islanders finished on a disappointing 251 for eight.

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed two and debutant Washington Sundar bagged one wicket along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya.

The series-deciding third and final ODI will be played on Sunday, December 17.
