Rohit Sharma blasted his way to the joint fastest century in T20 Internationals, reaching the three-figure mark off just 35 balls, to power India to a massive 88 runs which helped them seal the three-match series 2-0, against Sri Lanka in the second T20 International in Indore on Friday.

Rohit hit 118 from 43 balls and KL Rahul smashed 89 from 49 balls to lift India to a massive 260 for five in their 20 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka hardly challenged with the bat despite Kusal Perera's entertaining 77 from 37 balls and Upul Tharanga hit 47 from 29 balls.

The wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, once again did the damage with the ball as they made a good comeback after going for runs early on in their spell.

Chahal took four for 52, including three wickets in his final over, while Kuldeep also matched him with triple strike in his last over to finish with three for 52.

Sri Lanka lost their eight wickets in the space of 25 balls to suffer another dramatic batting collapse.

The convincing victory helped India seal the three-match series 2-0 with the inconsequential third and final T20I to be played in Mumbai on Sunday, December 24.

With Mathews unlikely to bat due to his injury, India need just one wicket to finish off the visitors and seal the series.

Bumrah comes back as India look to end it quickly. Chameera picks one from the first ball before Pradeep can't do anything with the remaining five deliveries.

Pandya delivers the final blow with the wicket of Chameera, who is bowled for three as Sri Lanka lose by 88 runs.

The spinners are turning it on here after going for runs earlier on. Chaturanga de Silva goes for the reverse sweep but ends up hitting it back on to his stumps to be bowled for one.

And two balls later, Chahal gets Samarawickrama stumped for five as Sri Lanka suffer another batting collapse against the spinners, losing six wickets for 22 runs in the space of 14 balls.

After Kuldeep picked up three wickets in the previous later, Chahal also does the same in the following over.

Dananjaya attempts the big hit down the ground but ends up holing out to the fielder at long-on to perish for five.

Chahal finishes with four for 52, making a good comeback after going for runs in his first three overs.

Sri Lanka suffer a dramatic collapse losing seven wickets in the last 17 balls.

Kuldeep to bowl his fourth and final over as Rohit looking to finish off the spinners quota before the end.

After going for runs, Kuldeep finally has something to cheer as he strikes in his final over.

Captain Thisara Perera goes for a big hit down the ground but ends up holing to long-on where Pandya takes a good running catch.

He bowls a wide before striking with the key wicket of Perera, who ends up hitting it straight to the fielder at long-off.

Perera walks back after an entertaining innings of 77 from 37 balls, hitting seven sixes and three fours, as Sri Lanka's hopes suffer further.

No time to get your eye in as Sadeera Samarawickrama comes in and hammers the first ball through the covers for a four.

Asila Gunaratne goes for the sweep but is beaten and Dhoni whips off the bails in a flash and almost signals that the batsman is out.

The decision is referred upstairs and the third umpire rules that Gunaratne has not dragged his feet behind the crease and rules him out.

Three wickets for Kuldeep in the over as he finishes with three for 52 in his four overs.

Chahal makes the breakthrough with the wicket of Tharanga, who gets a leading edge and is caught by the bowler himself.

Tharanga walks back after scoring a quickfire 47 from 29 balls as Sri Lanka are reduced to 145 for two, in the 14th over.

At the other end, Perera continues his attacking approach as he hits the next ball straight for a four with Dinesh Karthik messing up on the long-off fence.

Two balls later, Perera picks it over midwicket for another six to continue his attacking approach as he races to 77 from 36 balls.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal comes into the attack, replacing his spin partner Kuldeep, who was hit for 29 runs in his two overs.

He makes a good start as Perera, who goes for the cross batted slog but is beaten by one which slants across him.

Just one single from the first three balls before Tharanga makes up for it. He pulls a short ball over midwicket for a six and then clips the next on the leg side for two runs.

Chahal bowls a wide outside the off-stump before Tharanga deposits the next ball in the stands over midwicket for the second six of the over, which goes for 16 runs.

Sri Lanka reach 102 for one in 10 overs, but they still need another 159 runs from the remaining 10 overs for victory.

Pandya again suffers off the last ball as after conceding just four singles from the first five balls Perera clobbers the last ball over square leg for a six to get 10 from the over.

Chahal continues and comes under more rough treatment in his second over. Three runs from the first three balls before Perera clubs the spinner over the leg side for a six. The next ball is crashed through the covers for a four as Perera races to his half-century from just 26 balls.

Kuldeep comes back and he also continues to be hit for boundaries. Perera reverse sweeps the second ball square on the off-side for a four and then swings the next ball over midwicket for a six.

Perera comes down and hits a full toss over the bowler's head for a four as Sri Lanka hammer 53 from the last 22 balls to keep their team interested.

Kuldeep manages to concede just two singles from the last two balls to give away 16 runs from the over for a total of 45 runs from his three overs.

Sri Lanka are 142 for one in 13 overs, needing 119 runs from seven overs for victory at an asking rate of exactly 17.

Spin introduced as Kuldeep Yadav comes in to bowl in the Powerplay, to bowl the sixth over.

Tharanga comes down and lofts the second ball over the covers for a four. Two balls later Kusal Perera comes down the track and hammers the spinner back over his head for a six. He chips down again and clubs the left-arm spinner over midwicket for another maximum.

Kuldeep goes for 19 in his first over as SL reach 61 for one in six overs.

Hardik Pandya comes into the attack with Sri Lanka requiring a lot of boundaries to keep their chances alive.

But Pandya makes a fantastic start with the ball as he concedes just five singles in his opening over.

Kuldeep does well to keep Perera guessing who tries the reverse paddle but the ball is much slower and on the pads as he ends up getting one to short thirdman.

Tharanga takes another single before Perera comes down and clubs Kuldeep over the leg side for a six to get 11 from the over.

Pandya nearly bowls another good over, keeping the batsmen restricted to just ones and twos. However, Tharanga manages to pull the last ball fine for a four but they still get just nine from the over as the asking rate creeps above the 15-run mark.

Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat opens the bowling for India, who are defending a huge score.

Niroshan Dickwella on the attack from the word go as he looks to scoop the first ball over the wicketkeeper but ends up hitting it towards fine leg for a single.

Upul Tharanga is beaten off the next ball before he takes one followed by three more singles for five runs from the opening over.

The impressive Jasprit Bumrah from the other end. He starts with a yorker as Dickwella manages to keep it out and is dropped off the next ball as KL Rahul puts down a tough running catch at square leg.

He then makes India pay further as he flicks the next ball over the leg side for a six followed by three singles to get 11 from the over.

Dickwella attacks Unadkat as he chips down the track and lofts it over the off-side for a four and then slashes the next ball past point for the same result.

Sri Lanka off to a good start as they race to 27 for no loss in three overs, but that is still not enough with the required run rate at the start being 13.

Unadkat makes the breakthrough with the wicket of the dangerous Dickwella, who lofts it straight to the fielder at deep square leg after scoring 25 from 19 balls.

Rohit Sharma equalled the record for the fastest century in T20 Internationals to power India to a massive 260 for five in the second T20I in Indore.

Rohit hammered 118 from 43 balls, hitting 12 fours and 10 sixes, putting on 165 runs from 76 balls for the opening wicket with KL Rahul.

Rahul also continued his good run, with his second successive fifty, as he blasted 89 from 49 balls, laced with eight sixes and five fours.

Dhoni was much more circumspect as he hit 28 from 21 balls as India made most after being put in on a good wicket.

Sri Lanka will need to come out all guns firing to chase down the total and keep their hopes alive in the series.

Perera to bowl the final over. Dhoni picks a single from the first ball before new batsman Shreyas Iyer looks to heave the next ball over the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads.

The umpire rules him out leg before wicket before Iyer decides to take the DRS but the ball is crashing into the leg stumps and the decision stays.

The Indians going through a batting collapse. Two balls later, Dhoni also chances his arms but misses a straight ball and is bowled after scoring 28 from 21 balls.

Dinesh Karthik hits the first ball he faces for a four before he takes a single as India finish on a mammoth 260 for five in their 20 overs, the second highest score in T20 Internationals.

Dhoni breaks free as he hammers Dananjaya back over his head for a six before the spinner bowls a couple of wides.

The right-hander then smashes the fourth ball over midwicekt for a six before taking a single.

The last ball is full and Rahul blasts it straight down the ground for the third six of the over, which goes for 21 runs.

The six are flowing freely in Indore. In the next over, Rahul plays another cracking straight drive for a six to take his score to 77 from 44 balls.

But he opts to swing the next ball across the line on the leg side but is beaten.

Chameera then tries the slower bouncer as Rahul is beaten again. But he keeps his shape off the last ball as he plays a cracking lofted cover drive which carries comfortably over the ropes for another delightful six, which takes him into the 80s.

Rahul continues the flow of sixes as he hits a full toss on the pads straight to Gunaratne on the midwicket fence but the fielder has lost it completely and lets it go.

However, the bowler Pradeep gets revenge off the next ball as Rahul gets the edge and wicketkeeper Dickwella comes up with a superb catch diving to his right.

Rahul unlucky to miss out on a century as he falls for a cracking knock of 89 from 49 balls.

Hardik Pandya who is promoted to No. 4 wastes no time in getting going. He hammers the first ball he faces down the ground for a four and then carves the next square on the off-side for a six.

The last ball is short as Pandya gets the top edge trying to swing it on the leg side and is caught on the off-side after scoring 10 from three balls.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, promoted to No. 3, wastes no time in getting going. He slaps a full delivery from Dananjaya straight down the ground for a four and then gets the next over the off-side for another boundary.

Three singles from the rest of the over as Dananjaya goes for 11 in the 14th over.

In the next over, Rahul heaves Pradeep over the leg side for a four to bring up his fifty in style. Interestingly, Rahul completed his fifty from 35 balls, the same number of deliveries that Rohit took to get his hundred.

A couple of wides from Pradeep before Rahul pulls a short ball over square leg for a six and gets an inside edge off the last ball for another four as 19 comes from the over.

Perera trying to mix up things as he bowls a lot of slower balls. Dhoni is hit on the pads as Sri Lanka take the DRS but the ball is missing the leg stump and the review is turned down.

He bowls a leg side wide to Rahul as India bring up their 200 in the 16th over.

This is unbelievable batting from Rohit and he looks good for a double century here!

He goes after Chameera, pulling the first ball over midwicket for a six and then slaps the next through point for a four.

The third ball is again hit over the leg side for a six as Rohit continues his attack on the hapless Sri Lankans.

But against the run of play, Chameera makes the crucial breakthrough for Sri Lanka with the wicket of Rohit.

He tries to ramp the short ball over the wicketkeeper but it is slower in pace and he ends up hitting it straight into the hands of the fielder at short thirdman.

Rohit walks back after a sensational innings of 118 from 43 balls, laced with as many as 10 sixes and 12 fours.

Rohit smashes Mathews through the off-side for a four to race to his century from just 35 balls.

The India captain equals the record for the fastest century currently held by South African David Miller.

But he has destroyed the Indian record for the fastest hundred in T20 Internationals, the previous record was the 46-ball hundred by KL Rahul, who is at the other end.

And to make matters worse for Sri Lanka, Mathews seems to have picked up some injury and is forced off the field.

Dananjaya continues the rest of the over and does a pretty good job under the circumstances, giving away just a single off the remaining four deliveries of the over.

The first four overs went for just 26 runs as the openers took time to get their eye in before they smashed 82 runs from the next five to put India in control.

Pradeep comes back into the attack. After being hit for 17 in his first over, he does well to keep things quiet by giving away five singles in his first five balls. However, he errs with his length off the last ball as he dishes out a full toss and gives away a four to concede nine in his second over.

India look set for a huge score as they reach 117 for no loss in 10 overs at the halfway stage, with Rohit smashing his way to 73 from 29 balls and Rahul on 44 from 31 balls.

Captain Perera brings himself back into the attack. He nearly makes the breakthrough as Rohit looks to have mishit it on the leg side but Sadeera fails to judge the catch cleanly and ends up flicking it over the ropes to give away a six.

No stopping Rohit as he hammers the next three balls for a hat-trick of sixes.

He hits a length ball straight down the ground for a maximum and then blasts the next two balls over the off-side for two more sixes to smash his way to 97 from 34 balls, with the help of 10 fours and eight sixes.

Left-arm spinner Chaturanga de Silva comes into the attack with Sri Lanka desperate for a breakthrough to stop India's charge.

Rahul then uses his feet and smashes the spinner for another big six straight down the ground as the over goes for 16 runs.

Medium pacer Asila Gunaratne comes into the attack and he comes under some heavy attack from Rohit.

Rahul takes a single from the second ball before Rohit hits the next four balls for boundaries.

He heaves the third ball over midwicket for a six to race to his fifty from just 23 balls in grand style. The next ball is again a slower ball as Rohit hammers the length ball over the same region for the same result.

The fifth ball is full and wide as Rahul pierces the gap behind point for a four and then plays a cracking cover drive off the last ball for another four as Gunaratne is hit for 21 in his first over.

Rahul decides to take a few risks and put some pressure on Chameera. He lofts the first ball back over the bowler's head but without proper timing for just a couple of runs.

He is unable to turn the strike off the next two balls before he makes room and lofts it over mid-off for a six.

Rahul looks to repeat the shot off the next delivery but gets an inside edge.

Nuwan Pradeep comes into the attack in place of Mathews, who bowled a steady first spell of two overs.

He starts with a slower ball as Rohit uses the pull shot again to hit it over midwicket for a six.

He then takes a single before Rahul spots the slower ball early and glances Pradeep fine on the leg side for a four.

The next ball is pitched up and Rahul plays a cracking lofted shot straight back over the bowler's head for a six.

Pradeep goes for 17 in his first over as India race to 43 for nos loss in five overs, with Rahul hitting 26 from 19 balls and Rohit scoring 17 from 11 balls.

Medium pacer Angelo Mathews to open the bowling for Sri Lanka with the wicketkeeper Norshan Dickwella up to the stumps right from the start.

Mathews has a good record against Rohit, having dismissed the right-hander 10 times in total across all three formats in international cricket.

Rohit carefully defends the first two balls before he lashes a wide delivery past point for a four to get off the mark in style.

Mathews then drops short as Rohit pulls it comfortably over midwicket for another four to make a confident start.

Dushmantha Chameera to bowl the second over. KL Rahul runs the third ball down to thirdman for a single to get off the mark and Rohit picks one on the off-side.

Rahul then slaps the fifth ball down the ground for a four to get 15 from the first two overs.

Rahul, on 6, gets a lifeline as Sadeera Samawickrama drops a straightforward chance at point before the right-hander gets an inside edge off the next.

He then drives one past the fielder in the covers for a single and Rohit takes one to sweeper cover for one.

India off to a confident as they reach 18 for no loss in three overs.

Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera has won the toss and elected to bowl.

The visitors have made two changes to their playing eleven with Sadeera Samarawickrama and Chaturanga de Silva come into the team.

Meanwhile, India, who won the first T20 on Wednesday, are unchanged.
