INDIA WIN BY 208 RUNS!

B'desh 250-all out (100.3 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin claimed four wickets each as India thrashed Bangladesh by 208 runs in the one-off Test in Hyderabad.

Bangladesh fought bravely in their second innings as they hung on bravely for more than 100 overs before they were bowled out for 250.

Kamrul provided stiff resistance with the bat as he stayed unbeaten on three while being at the crease for 70 deliveries, which was the second highest in terms of balls played for Bangladesh in the second innings after Mahmudullah, who made 64 from 149 balls.

Ishant bowled his heart out a docile wicket, claiming two for 40 in 13 overs, when he deserved a lot more as he had a LBW decision turned down and had a catch dropped at slip.

Bangladesh have themselves to blame as none of their top and middle order batsmen were willing to fight it out and spend time at the crease.

India will be happy to have wrapped up the match convincingly as they face a much tougher challenge within two weeks, a four-Test series against England starting in Pune on February 23.

A single to Taskin off Jadeja helps Bangladesh bring up the 250-run mark, in the 100th over.

Ashwin has a huge LBW appeal turned down against Taskin as umpire Marais Erasmus goes over to the leg umpire Joel Wilson before deciding to consult the third umpire.

The third umpire checks for the inside edge and it goes in the favour of the batsman.

And immediately Kohli signals for the DRS which goes in India's favour.

14:09   Jadeja claims 4th wicket as India close in on win

B'desh 249-9 (98 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Despite the wicket, Jadeja is taken off as he makes way for Ishant, who has been superb with the ball on Day 5.

Kamrul has shown a lot of patience to survive for 48 balls so far, scoring just two runs while new batsman Taijul Islam defends the over from Ishant.

Change of ends for Jadeja, who takes over from Ashwin, but Kamrul is content to defend as the left-arm spinner rushes through his 34th over.

Ashwin also switches to the other end. Taijul has had enough of the blocking as he comes down the track and lofts him over mid-on for a four though he was not in control.

However, he fails to learn from his mistake as he plays another lofted shot, this time miscuing it over mid-off as Umesh can't get to the ball.

Jadeja getting the ball to kick off the footmarks outside Taijul's off-stump but the left-hander manages to keep it down.

However, he looks to pull a short ball but only skies it high and is caught by Rahul on the leg side despite clashing with Vijay, who also went for the catch.

Poor batting from Taijul as he looked to hit his team out of trouble instead of trying to play for the tea break, which was just five minutes away.

That wickets means India get the extra half hour in the post-lunch session to claim the final wicket.

13:57   Jadeja dismisses Hasan, Bangladesh lose 8th wicket

B'desh 242-8 (91 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

With a minimum of 37 overs remaining in the day, Kohli decides to go for his two best bowlers as he brings back Jadeja to replace Umesh and partner Ashwin.

The duo have already played more than 12 overs and if they bat out another 10 overs then India will start to feel worried.

But Jadeja spoils their plans with the wicket of Hasan, who is caught behind for 23. He gets one to bounce and turn sharply as Hasan looks to defend but it goes off the gloves with wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha completing a good sharp high catch.

A wicket just at the right time for India as Bangladesh were slowly starting to raise their hopes of a draw.
13:56   Hasan, Kamrul frustrate India after Ishant's double strike

B'desh 239-7 (87 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Jadeja brings Hasan forward with a full delivery who looks to block but the fielder at silly point can't get low to a difficult chance.

In the next over, Hasan slashes hard at a short wide delivery from Ishant past the gully region for a four.

After not getting the LBW in his favour, Ishant gets unlucky yet again as Vijay puts down a simple catch at first slip to give Hasan a lifeline.

Jadeja goes past the edge of Kamrul's bat as he comes forward to defend but he manages to see off the over.

India take the new ball as Bhuvneshwar comes in to bowl the 81st over of the innings but interestingly Jadeja continues from the other end.

The left-arm spinner bowls a full delivery which Hasan straight down the ground for a four.

The wickets are still difficult to come as the Bangladesh lower order is showed some dogged resistance with the bat and not trying anything too fancy.

Finally, Jadeja, who has bowled 31 overs in the innings gets a break as he makes way for Ashwin, who has bowled much lesser on the final day.

Hasan drives the second ball through the covers for one before Kamrul steers it past point for a couple.

Bangladesh are 239 for seven in 87 overs with Hasan on 20 from 48 balls and Kamrul on two from 33 balls with the duo having already stay at the wicket for 10.3 overs so far.

12:58   Ishant's double strike brings India closer to victory

B'desh 225-7 (77 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Jadeja bowls a beauty to Mahmudullah, full and turning away beating the right-hander who came down the track but wicketkeeper Saha could not pull off the stumping. He failed to collect it cleanly with the batsman well out of his crease giving the right-hander a lifeline.

Two balls later, Mahmudullah is beaten by another full delivery which spins away sharply, beating the edge of the bat.

Hasan is beaten by one from Ishant which moves away as he gets the edge which goes past the slips for a four.

He lets the next ball go through which comes in sharp and passes close to the off-stump. A terrific spell by Ishant after the lunch break and he has created quite a few problems for the Bangladesh batsmen.

Hasan plays a confident shot in the next over, driving Jadeja through the off-side for a four.

Bangladesh have a minimum of 50 overs remaining but given the speed at which Jadeja is completing his overs, India will definitely a bowl lot more if needed.

Hasan played a good knock in the first innings and Bangladesh would be looking towards him to hang in atleast till tea.

Out of nowhere, Ishant gets another wicket, that of the well-set Mahmudullah. The right-hander takes on the short delivery but only manages to top edge it to Bhuvneshwar on the fine leg fence.

Mahmudullah walks back after a gritty innings of 64, having hit seven fours in his 149-ball knock as Bangladesh's slim chances of saving the Test all but end.

Kamrul Islam gets a promotion as he walks in at No. 9. He survives a huge shout for LBW as the ball comes in sharply but umpire Marais Erasmus turns it down. And India will regret having wasted the DRS a few overs earlier since the review shows that it was out if had gone upstairs.

12:30   Ishant strikes after lunch, Bangladesh lose 6th wicket

B'desh 213-6 (71 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Welcome to the post-lunch session as Jadeja starts off with the ball for India. Rahman defends the first five balls before the last one is fired down the leg side as he misses the sweep and it beats Saha too for four leg byes.

No spin from both ends for India as Ishant is called into the attack from the other end. Mahmudullah picks a single from the first ball before Rahman defends the rest of the over.

Jadeja drops short as Rahman cuts it behind point for a four. Two balls later, Rahman survives a shout for LBW as India take the DRS which also goes in the batsman's favour with the ball slipping down the leg side.

Ishant strikes in the next over with the wicket of Rahman, who is given out leg before wicket. He has a chat with non-striker Mahmudullah before he decides to take the DRS.

There is no doubt about that decision as Rahman was struck on the backfoot and the LBW is as plumb as it could be. The right-hander played down the wrong line and was beaten all ends up to be struck right in front of the stumps.

Mehedi Hasan is beaten off the first ball as he fishes outside the off-stump and is beaten again off the next as he pokes at it.
11:39   Ashwin and Jadeja strike, Bangladesh 202-5 at lunch

LUNCH - DAY 5

B'desh 202-5 (67 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Ashwin and Jadeja claimed a wicket each in the morning session to reduce Bangladesh to 202 for five in 67 overs at the lunch break on Day 5.

While Shakib got an unplayable delivery from Jadeja which kicked off the rough and took the gloves to the short leg fielder, captain Rahim threw his wicket away as he looked to attack Ashwin but was caught at mid-off.

Mahmudullah battled his way to an unbeaten half-century, 58 not out, at the break, while Rahman was not out on 18.

The Indian bowlers were once again made to earn their wickets on a docile pitch which is still good for batting. India just need another wicket before they can lay their hands on their lower order whom they will be hoping to polish off as on as possible.
11:34

B'desh 202-5 (67 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Ashwin constantly trying things to keep the batsmen guessing as he comes up with a lot of variations. However, for once he misses his radar as the leg-spinning delivery slips out of his hands and goes way down the leg side.

Jadeja finally gets a break as he makes way for Umesh after a long spell on Day 5.

Mahmudullah gets a half-century in streaky fashion as he edges Umesh through the slips for a four. A fighting knock from the right-hander under difficult circumstances to keep Bangladesh afloat on the final day.

Rahman seems to have had enough of the blocking as he goes on the offensive against Ashwin as he comes down and has a wild heave but mishits it on the leg side. Jadeja, who stopped the ball at midwicket, fires a quick throw at the non-striker's end which beats the bowler and also the fielder covering to give away four overthrows.

The last ball is a full toss as Rahman comes down and slams it over long-on for a six.

He continues to go after Ashwin, smashing one straight back for another four in his next over.

Mahmudullah gets a freebie as Umesh drops it short and also gives width which is promptly despatched through the off-side for a four.

The umpires call for lunch just when Ashwin was looking to bowl another over and Kohli is not too happy with that decision. He believes that India could have sneaked in another quick over before the break.

11:06   Ashwin dismisses Rahim, Bangladesh lose 5th wkt

B'desh 170-5 (60 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

India's spinners have shown the patience required to get wickets on a docile fifth day pitch. They have been greatly assisted by Bangladesh's batsmen, who seem to be struggling with their focus and temperament and giving away wickets easily when the need of the hour is to defend.

It looks like Bangladesh's batsmen have shut shop and are now looking to defend everything. The Indian spinners would love this approach, it will be a test of patience of the two Bangladesh batsmen -- Mahmudullah and Sabbir Rahman.

The odd ball is still doing the trick but the pitch has held very well so far and batting is not that difficult.

Mahmudullah has battled hard to score 48 from 103 balls, while Rahman is on one from 25 balls with Bangladesh reaching 170 for five in 60 overs.

10:52   Ashwin dismisses Rahim, Bangladesh lose 5th wkt

B'desh 162-5 (53 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

It will be spin from both ends as premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin comes into the attack in place of Ishant, who gave away 28 runs in six overs.

Rahim immediately gives Ashwin the charge but hits it straight back the bowler. He again chips down the track and this time he flays it through the covers for a  four. But two balls later Ashwin gets revenge as Rahim again comes down but has not reached the pitch yet looks to loft it down the ground and gets a thick outside edge to be caught at mid-off.

Captain Rahim walks back for 23 after playing a reckless shot to leave his team in strife at 162 for five in 53 overs.

10:31   Mahmudullah, Rahim steady Bangladesh

B'desh 155-4 (50 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Mahmudullah taking a few risks in between as he sweeps Jadeja and gets a top edge which goes over the fielder at square leg for a four. He gets a leading edge off the last ball which falls just short of the fielder at point.

Ishant comes in for Yadav and bowls a good over first up. He gets one to jag in sharply, hitting Mahmudullah on the pads but the leg before appeal is turned down.

Despite playing for a draw, Bangladesh have not stopped looking for runs. Rahim plays the reverse sweep against Jadeja, hitting him for a boundary through the thirdman region.

In the next over, he pulls a short ball from Ishant high over the fine leg region for a six.

India won't mind the Bangladesh batsmen going for their shots as it gives them a chance to get wickets, on a pitch which has still broken up as much as expected.

Mahmudullah goes after Jadeja, chipping down the track and lofting it over mid-off for a four. He comes down the track again to the next ball and smashes it over midwicket for another boundary.

Bangladesh have recovered well after the early wicket to reach 155 for four in 50 overs, with another 75 overs still left in the day's play.

10:08

B'desh 122-4 (44 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Umesh getting the ball to reverse and move late as Mahmudullah is forced to play with caution. Infact, the right-hander misses out on a short wide delivery as he is beaten outside the off-stump.

Mushfiqur Rahim sweeps Jadeja for a couple on the leg side to get off the mark. but he is beaten off the last ball as the ball spins away.

Yadav gets the ball to swing in sharply as Mahmudullah flicks it through midwicket for a couple and he edges one a few deliveries later as it goes for a four past the slips. He again edges the next ball for a couple through the gully region.

Jadeja doing his job quite well, keeping his end tight as Rahim plays out a maiden, looking to defend everything.

India have a plan in place for Mahmudullah, who nearly falls into the trap. Umesh gets one to swing in sharply as the right-hander flicks it uppishly and it goes between the two fielders close in on the leg side, nearly a chance.

The last ball moves away late as Mahmudullah is beaten again outside the off-stump.
09:48   Jadeja strikes early on Day 5, Shakib out for 22

B'desh 108-4 (38 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Captain Virat Kohli starts the final day with spin as Ravindra Jadeja gets the ball first up.

Mahmudullah blocks the first three balls before he heaves one across the line for a couple of runs through midwicket and then defends the last two balls.

Umesh Yadav to bowl from the other end. Shakib Al Hasan plays a careless shot off the first ball, hitting it uppishly as it falls short of Virat Kohli at mid-off and he is beaten two balls later as the ball goes past the edge of the bat before he takes a single off the fifth ball.

Jadeja gets the early breakthrough on the final day with the wicket of Shakib for 22. Bowling from over the wicket Jadeja gets one to explode from the rough, as it catches Shakib by surprise, hitting him on the gloves and on to the pads before Pujara completes an easy catch at short leg.

09:15   Dominant India eye big win on Day 5

B'desh 103-3 (35 ovs) vs India; Target: 459 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of the fifth and final day of the one-off Test between India and Bangladesh, in Hyderabad, on Monday.

Bangladesh face a near-impossible of having to survive the final day with just seven wickets in hand against the world's top two spinners -- Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

India's spinners sent back the top three Bangladesh batsmen in the second innings of the one-off Test at Hyderabad on Day 4 on Sunday to keep the hosts on course for victory.

Chasing an improbable target of 459 in four sessions for a win, Bangladesh reached 103-3 at stumps on the fourth day of their maiden test in India, the world's top-ranked nation.

Shakib Al Hasan was unbeaten on 21 for Bangladesh with Mahmudullah nine not out at the other end.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who during the day became the fastest to reach 250 wickets in Tests, dismissed Tamim Iqbal (3) and Mominul Haque (27) while spin partner Ravindra Jadeja picked up the wicket of Soumya Sarkar, who made 42.

Sarkar and Mominul added 60 for the second wicket but both left-handers were out in the space of 14 deliveries, dampening the touring side's hopes of saving the Test match.
