Kohli, once again, came good in a run chase and guided the inexperienced Jadhav through the middle overs to help India chase down the massive score.

India 350-7 (48 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

Leg-spinner Rashid comes in to bowl the 48th over as India pick five runs from the first five balls before Pandya smashes the last ball over long-off to level scores and race to 40 from 37 balls.

21:29   Pandya, Ashwin take India closer to victory

Three singles off the next three deliveries before Ravichandran Ashwin turns the last ball on the leg side for two runs to get nine from Stokes's final over, who finishes with two for 73 in 10 overs.

21:19   Jadeja out for 13 as England stay in the hunt

India 325-7 (45 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

Ball rekindles England's hopes with the wicket of Jadeja. The left-hander top edges the pull shot and is caught at mid-on after scoring 13 from 15 balls.

With the asking rate under control at around 5.5, there was no need for such rash shots but Jadeja has given England a glimmer of a hope. Poor thinking from the experienced all-rounder, trying to take a risk when there was no need.

Pandya relieves some pressure following that wicket with a fluent drive through the covers for a four to take the score to 325 for seven, needing 26 from 30 balls for victory.
21:09   India need 37 runs from 7 overs for victory

India 313-6 (43 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

Ravindra Jadeja plays a defensive push on the leg side but gets good timing on it, as it beats the fielder at mid-on, for a four.

A few deliveries later, Stokes has a LBW appeal turned down against Jadeja, who is struck high on the pads.

Umpire CK Nandan turns down the appeal as England take the DRS, which also goes India's way with the impact too high and the ball missing the stumps comfortably.

England bring back Moeen to bowl the 42nd over with India not looking in any rush at the moment with the asking rate under six.

They pick six runs from Moeen's sixth over to keep in touch with the asking rate.

In the next over, Ball bowls a wide before Jadeja hits him through midwicket for a four to further bring the asking rate under control.

20:53   Jadhav dismissed for 76-ball 120 but India still in control

India 291-6 (40 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

Pacer Ball comes back, replacing Woakes, who was expensive in his second spell. Jadhav, who by now can't even take the quick singles due to cramps, decides to go for the big shot. He smashes a short ball over mid-off for a six before he pulls a short ball but tumbles on the ground.

Jadhav is down with severe cramps and it remains to be seen if he continues or retires as his inability to take the quick singles would hamper India big time in the closing stages of this run chase.

Meanwhile, Jadhav is up and back again. He smashes another short ball over midwicket and it carries all the way for a six to get 13 from the over.

Stokes continues as he starts the new over with one down the leg side which Pandya tickles fine for a four to bring the asking rate under six for the first time in their innings.

Stand and deliver time for Jadhav, as he pulls another short ball down the leg side from Stokes past the short fine leg fielder for another four.

Ball gets the key wicket of Jadhav, who plays the pull shot yet again but hits it straight into the hands of the fielder at deep square leg.

Jadhav hobbles back after a fine innings of 120 from 76 balls as he gets a huge cheer from his home fans.

With both the centurions gone, India are reduced to 291 for six in 40 overs, needing another 60 runs from the last 10 overs for victory.

India's lower order did remarkably well during the Test series and it remains to be seen if they can replicate that same form in the ODIs too.

India 264-5 (37 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

A short ball from Stokes as Kohli looks to pull but miscues it on the off-side and is caught by Willey.

However, he has put India right on course for victory with a superb partnership of 200 runs from 24.3 overs for the fifth wicket with Jadhav, who is struggling with cramps for the last few overs.

This has been a superb spell from Stokes so far, taking one for 11 in three overs to dent India's hopes big time.

Stokes played a potential game changing innings with the bat and with the ball he has bagged the two big wickets of Yuvraj and Kohli.

20:32   Kohli, Jadhav hit centuries to put India in control

India 262-4 (36 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

England bring back Stokes, who bowls a good over as he gives away just three runs in his fourth over.

In the next over, Kohli plays another magical shot, going deep in the crease before lifting a slightly slower short ball from Woakes with a straight bat over midwicket for a six. How he managed to get it over that region is hard to understand and only a batsman with the talent and ability of Kohli can do it. What a player!

After a good first spell, Woakes is struggling as he bowls another one down the leg side which Jadhav guides fine on the leg side for a four to take his score into the 90s.

Stokes bowls a full delivery to Kohli, who clips it on the leg side for two runs and then takes a single.

India 229-4 (32 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

Rashid, who went for 26 runs in his first three overs, comes back for a new spell. Kohli picks a single to inch closer to his century before Jadhav cuts a short ball which is half stopped at point to give him a couple.

He then pulls a short ball over midwicket for a four to raise the 150-run stand for just 116 balls.

Jadhav follows it up with a sensational inside-out lofted shot over the covers for a six as Rashid continues to leak runs, giving away 13 more runs in his fourth over.

What a treat for the home fans as Jadhav has overshadowed Kohli, scoring 85 from 52 balls in the partnership of 158 runs with Kohli content to play second fiddle with 71 from 63 balls in the fifth-wicket stand.

Kohli looking for the single to complete his century but Woakes has done well to keep him quiet. And finally Kohli gets it in grand style, smashing the pacer back over his head for a six to bring up his century from 93 balls, the 27th time he has gone past the hundred-run mark in ODIs and the 17th time in a run chase.

Has there ever been a better batsman in a run chase in ODIs in the history of the game?

Run chases are Kohli's specialities and once he gets some good support from the other end, there is no stopping him.

India were reeling at 63 for four at one stage but Kohli was not affected and once he saw Jadhav scoring freely from the other end, Kohli settled down and guided his partner through the middle overs while ensuring that India kept in touch with the scoring rate.

India 208-4 (30 ovs) vs England 350-7 | Scorecard

India not trying anything fancy in the middle overs and just trying to deal in ones and twos against the spinners to keep their wickets for a dash at the end.

Root goes for six runs in his second over, all coming in singles.

Moeen looks to have bowled a quiet over before Jadhav spoils his plans as he lofts the last ball straight back over his head for a four, to take his score to 60 from just 37 balls. That boundary also brings up the 100-run stand for the fifth wicket from just 81 balls and has been instrumental in keeping India's chances alive despite the early wickets.

Kohli also gets into the act as he skips down the track to Root and hoists him over midwicket for a six.

Both Kohli and Jadav have showed great awareness in taking the singles and ensure that they maintain the momentum in the middle overs.

Jadhav has not played much international cricket but is showing cricketing sense in a pressure situation.

He yet again goes after Moeen's last delivery after he had given just three runs off the first five balls, lofting him over mid-off for a much-needed four.

Desperate for a wicket, England are forced to bring back Willey. Kohli plays a handsome drive through the off-side for a four and Jadhav nudges Moeen fine on the leg side for another boundary as 10 come from Moeen's next over.

Kohli picks a single to take India past the 200-run mark, in the 30th over. He then steers a short delivery over short thirdman for a four take his score into the 90s. Another couple of runs takes him to 96 and just a boundary away from another century in a run chase.

Part-time Root replaces Rashid, who has gone for 26 runs in his three overs. Kohli has slowed down considerably allowing Jadhav to do the bulk of the scoring runs as he takes a chance or two, while getting boundaries regularly.

Without too much of a fuss, they pick Root for seven runs in his first over. Jadhav then takes a single off the first ball of Moeen's next over to race to his fifty from just 29 balls and gets a huge cheer from his home fans.

Willey is taken off after a good first spell of two for 30 in four overs as he makes way for pacer Jake Ball. Kohli slashes at a wide short ball as he gets a thick outside edge and is fortunate that the ball carried over the fielder on the thirdman fence for a six.

But Roy won't be quiet against the pacers. He cuts a short ball from Bumrah over the point fielder for another cracking boundary but he misses out on a full toss later in the over.

Joe Root gets into the act as he reverse paddles Jadeja fine past wicketkeeper for a four, beating Dhoni, who struck his leg out like a goalkeeper but saw it fly past his face.

Spin from both ends as Ravichandran Ashwin comes on from the other end, replacing Bumrah, who bowled three overs for 18 runs. Ashwin makes a tidy start, giving away five runs from his first over.

The two experienced spinners building up the pressure with some tight overs, drying up the boundaries in the last few overs.

Roy looks to break the shackles as he reverse sweeps Ashwin as he mishits it on the off-side but Yadav at short thirdman is unable to judge it well and drops a sharp catch as he makes a one-handed effort. Roy gets a couple of runs to take England past the 100-run mark, in the 18th over.

Roy then smashes the next ball from Ashwin powerfully past mid-off for a four.

Jadeja gets the crucial breakthrough for India with the wicket of Roy, who charges down the track but is beaten and Dhoni completes an easy stumping.

Roy played a nothing shot as he came down but missed the ball which sneaked in between the bat and pads. He walks back after a good innings of 73 from 61 balls, having hit 12 fours, adding 69 runs for the second wicket with Root to lay a solid foundation for the visitors.

Roy continues to get the boundaries in the early overs as he pulls a short ball from Yadav fine on the leg side for a four. The next ball is full as Roy flicks it square on the leg side and gets good timing on it for another boundary as he races to 43 from 32 balls.

In the next over, Roy plays a beautiful straight drive forcing even the great Sunil Gavaskar to applaud from the commentary box. He punches a full delivery from Bumrah down the ground for a four.

Roy shows he is equally capable off the backfoot as he pull a short ball over midwicket for another four to race to his half-century from 36 balls, having hit 10 fours.

This is a good start for England as they race to 67 for one in 10 overs.

Roy hits Yadav through the leg side for a four through midwicket as England continue their good start.

But against the run of play, they lose the wicket of Hales, who is run out for nine. Brilliant stuff from Bumrah, who rushes in from fine leg and gets a direct hit at the non-striker's end with Hales caught just short as he hesitated at the start of the second run and also didn't expect the throw at his end.

Meanwhile, Roy punches another ball on the stumps from Yadav through midwicket for a four.

13:54   England off to a good start after India elect to bowl

England 28-0 (5 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Roy on fire as he cuts a short ball from Yadav over the point region for a four. But the pacer soon gets his revenge as Roy is given out leg before wicket as umpire CK Nandan upholds the appeal.

After a brief consultation with his partner, Roy takes the DRS. The ball tracker shows that the impact was on the leg stump and the ball would have slided down the leg side and missed the stumps.

So, a reprieve for Roy as he makes good use of the review system.

Pandya bowls a near unplayable delivery to Hales, good movement and some extra bounce as Hales is beaten all ends up. He has settled into a good rhythm after being hit for two fours in his first over.

Hales looks to pull a short ball but gets a top edge which falls safely on the leg side as Ravi Ashwin stops inside the ropes and Roy keeps strike with a single from the last ball.

Yadav looking to keeping it on the stumps and not give any room to the two batsmen. Hales again misses the pull, as he ducks under bouncer before looking to pull the next which he mishits on the leg side for one.

England off to a good start, as they reach 28 for no loss in five overs.

England 15-0 (2 ovs) vs India | Scorecard

Umesh Yadav to open the bowling for India and up against him will be England's deadly opening duo of Jason Roy and Alex Hales.

Roy looks to leave the first ball quite late but ends up steering it wide of the second slip fielder and drives the next ball straight but is stopped at mid-on.

Umesh bowls a beauty, getting enough movement to beat Roy outside the off-stump.

He guides the next ball past the second slip for a four despite a good effort from Hardik Pandya at thirdman for the first boundary of the match.

Hardik Pandya to bowl the second over ahead of Jasprit Bumrah. Roy hits the second ball uppishly through the covers for a four and drives the next ball, which is full, through the same region for another boundary.

England's openers show their intent early on as they reach 15 for no loss for two overs.

12:30   India begin new era as captain Kohli takes charge
Welcome to the coverage of first One-Day International between India and England in Pune, on Sunday.

A new era in Indian cricket begins as Virat Kohli takes charge of the limited overs team, taking over Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who gave up the captaincy and will play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the three-match ODI and T20I series against England.

Captain Kohli will be hoping India can carry on their momentum from their crushing 4-0 victory against England in the Tests.

Desperate for some experience in the middle order, India brought back veteran Yuvraj Singh, who made his comeback to the ODI team after more than three years.

The hosts will again start as the favourites with spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja back in the ODI line-up after missing the series against New Zealand.

It will be interesting to see how India pack up their middle order also comprising of Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav. KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan are expected to open the innings and Hardik Pandya playing the all-rounder's role.

Kohli faces a tough choice to pick from the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, all of whom have done well in ODIs.
