Roy and Stokes perish, England in trouble
January 19, 2017  20:04

England 193-4 (30 ovs) vs India 381-6 | Scorecard

Roy doing well to keep the boundaries coming for England. Just when it looked Ashwin would send down a tight over, Roy makes room and lifts it over the cover region for a four.

But Jadeja strikes with the wicket of Roy, who is bowled after a good innings of 82 from 72 balls, having hit nine fours and two sixes.

He made some room and tried to steer it to thirdman but misses the ball which spun slightly to beat the bat and crash into the stumps.

England have promoted Ben Stokes ahead of Jos Buttler at No. 5 and it remains to be seen if the two new batsmen take their time to get their eye or if Stokes goes on the attack against the spinners.

Ashwin cripples England further with the wicket of Stokes, who plays from the crease to only drag it back on to his stumps.

England in trouble as they are reduced to 173 for four in the 28th over with the asking rate already above the nine runs per over mark.

Jos Buttler takes no time to get going as he comes down the track and lofts the last ball over midwicket for a four.

Buttler and Morgan play out the last over from Jadeja with caution, taking just four singles, as the left-arm spinner finishes with respectable figures of one for 45 in 10 overs on a flat wicket.

Morgan looks to break free as he carts Ashwin over long-on for a six to take the score to 193 for four in 30 overs, with 189 needed from 20 overs for victory.
