Stay alive in the series, India lead series 2-1

India 178 (49.4 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

West Indies win by 11 runs as Holder and Co. dismiss India for 178 in 49.4 overs.

What a shambolic display of batting by the Indians. Other than Rahane and Dhoni none of the other batsmen stepped up to the challenge.

In the end, it was Holder (5 for 27) who took those wickets at the death that made all the difference.

Umesh Yadav is bowled by Holder off the very first ball he faces.

India lose their 9th wicket.

With 13 off 4 balls needed, Kuldeep can only get a single to leg side. That brings Shami on strike.

Shami tries to go big only to be holed out by Chase on the off side.

India need 16 off the last two overs.

Williams bowls a full toss that is played back by Dhoni. No run.

Dhoni then plays the ball on the off side and hares down the pitch for a single.

Kuldeep plays the ball on the on side, wants a single but is sent back by Dhoni.

Holder then bowls a little wider, Kuldeep chases it.

The batsman then plays a shot to third man and that brings Dhoni on strike.

It's a slower ball. Dhoni tries to launch  but can only manage to play it to the hands of Joseph at long on.

That brings Umesh Yadav to the crease.

Kuldeep complays es in to replace Jadeja. The batsmen had crossed, so Dhoni keeps strike.

He steers the ball to the off-side for a single. he wants two but decides against it.

Kuldeep plays out two dot deliveries.

Holder continues and Jadeja takes a single down to third man.

Dhoni then jogs for a single.

Holder strikes! Jadeja deceived by the slower delivery. He goes for the big hoick, mistimes it only to send it down the throat of Powell at long-on.

With 25 needed off 24 balls, Jadeja and Dhoni are content with doing the job with singles and twos.

Williams continues and India now need a run-a-ball (20 off 20 balls).

Jadeja ends the over with a single down to third man.

Lose Pandya for 20

India 165-6 (46 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

Ravindra Jadeja comes to the crease and gets off the mark with a couple of runs to backward square leg.

He plays a cheeky upper cut to send the ball racing to the boundary over the keeper's head.

Jason Holder brings himself into the attack and immediately strikes!

Pandya is beaten all ends up by a yorker and he has to walk back after making 20 off 21 balls.

India now need 31 off the last five overs.

Royston Chase may have just helped India's cause by giving 16 big runs in the 44th over.

Joseph brought back into the attack and he starts with a wide.

The pressure has been eased off a bit as India  now need 38 off 35 balls.

Dhoni plays a slightly wide delivery square for a single.

Joseph bowls another wide, he follows Pandya and falls right into his trap.

Windies now have to keep their wits about themselves. Just too many runs being leaked at this crucial juncture, it may eventually be the difference.

Joseph has now bowled four wide in  the over!

What is happening here!

Holder brings in off-break bowler Royston Chase.

How will he bowl to Dhoni and Pandya?

The batsmen work him around for a couple of singles.

Dhoni gets a boundary off his pads. The ball is bowled to his pads and he flicks it to fine leg for his first four.

Nurse gives away three runs and Williams continues.

He nearly has Pandya, who fails to read the slower delivery and gets a top edge. The ball balloons up but falls in no man's land.

Chase bowls a wide and this is turning into an expensive over for the Windies.

Pandya launches into Chase and gets a six over mid-on.

He then plays the ball fine for a quick couple. 16 off the over. Not a good gamble played by Holder.

Williams gives away four runs this time.

Paceman Williams back into the attack and gives just one measly run.

The Windies are in with a chance here, provided they keep the scoring rate down.

Holder and company have to maintain disciplined bowling because Dhoni could be dangerous in these kind of situations. He relishes these challenges and he has an able ally in Pandya, who'd do anything to see India cross the line.

Required run-rate creeps over 6 per over

India 127-5 (40 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

With 65 needed off 62 balls, India's required run-rate has now climbed to over 6.

India get 2 runs off that Nurse over, both runs coming thanks to unnecessary overthrows.

Joseph brought back into the attack.

Pandya plays a cheeky shot, an upper cut and guides it over the keeper for a boundary.

Since the dismissal of Rahane this is India's first boundary -- also it comes after 111 deliveries.

Pandya comes at the fall of Jadhav and gets off the mark off his 5th delivery via a drive down to long on.

After a laboured stay at the crease, Jadhav is finally out for 10. He is caught by a good diving effort by keeper Shai Hope.

Bishoo continues and Jadhav gets off the mark with a single to third man.

Dhoni sweeps and gets two runs for his effort.

Jadhav is the new batsman in and is yet to get off the mark as Nurse bowls a tidy over giving just one run.

India lose 4th wicket

India 101-4 (31 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

Looks like Bishoo has finally broken the partnership. Umpire gives Rahane out caught behind, but the batsman wants to review the decision.

Rahane tries to sweep, he gets the faintest of nicks and the third umpire stays with on-field umpire's decision.

Rahane gone for a well made 60.

The scoreboard is moving nicely and Dhoni and Rahane bring up 50-run partnership in 104 balls in the 30th over.

Nurse and Bishoo continue from both ends and both, Dhoni and Rahane are doing well to just rotate the strike and play without much fuss.

India in control

India 85-3 (26 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

Rahane gets to his 3rd half-century of the series with a quick run on the off-side off the bowling of Nurse.

Nurse gives 3 runs in his over.

India in control here despite some good bowling by the Windies.

Unless the hosts take a wicket, India, we reckon, can run away with this game.

Holder persists with Williams, who has been economical thus far.

After three dot balls he bowls a wide delivery down the leg side, keeper Shai Hope doing well to stop the ball from running to the fence.

Williams gives just one off his over before off-break bowler Ashley Nurse replaces Bishoo at the other end.

Nurse makes a good start giving just two runs off his opening over.

Rahane is inching closer to his half-century. If this pair stays together for another 10 overs they can easily see India through.

Dhoni is starting to look good here having played himself in.

He takes a run off Bishoo and brings Rahane on strike, who takes a single on the off side.

Dhoni takes another run to end the over.

Williams continues and gives away just one run.

Hosts lacking intent in bowling after early strikes

India 73-3 (20 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

Bishoo continues.

Dhoni and Rahane play him with ease, taking the ones and twos quite comfortably.

Bishoo bowls a rare short ball and Rahane gives it a good thumping. He rocks back and pulls it for a boundary through mid-wicket.

Williams continues. Did Rahane get a nick there?

He bowls down the leg side, Williams reckons Rahane nicked it on the way to the keeper.

He appeals loudly, the umpire signals wide. Holder and Williams think long and hard before deciding against using DRS.

Rahane has been kept quiet for a while now. He gets one run off the last ball of the over.

Bishoo continues and gives four runs in the over.

Dhoni has picked a pace of his batting here and if he continues batting in the same fashion he could well spell doom for the Windies in partnership with Rahane.

Williams continues.

Things could get interesting if the hosts pick another couple of quick wickets.

Williams bowls a low full toss and Dhoni plays it on the off-side for 3 runs.

Spinner Devendra Bishoo comes into the attack. He bowls a maiden over in which he beats MS Dhoni and nearly has his wicket.

India 3 wickets down

India 53-3 (15 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

With the positive start given by the opening bowlers it's now upto the other Windies bowlers to compliment that effort.

Medium pacer Kesrick Williams replaces Joseph.

Nice fielding by Shia Hope keeps the ball from possibly racing to the boundary.

He then bowls a wide down the leg side.

Dhoni then takes a run down the leg side for a single.

Four runs come off that over.

Holder bowls another brilliant over giving just one run off it but has gone off the field.

Karthik gone for 2

India 48-3 (13 ovs) vs West Indies 189-9 (50 ovs)  Scoreboard

Joseph continues and Rahane's bat does all the talking.

He gets to the pitch of the ball and drives it for a boundary.

Rahane takes a single and brings Karthik on strike.

Karthik's 19-ball excruciating innings comes to an end. Joseph bowls the short ball, Karthik cannot control it, gets a top edge and is caught behind by Shia Hope.

Joseph gets his 2nd wicket and Karthik gone for 2.

Out comes MS Dhoni. He gets off the mark with a single down to backward square leg.

6 runs and a wicket in that over.

Holder continues. He sprays a rare wide down the leg side.

Karthik is finally off the mark with a couple.

Joseph continues.

After three quiet overs, Rahane plays a crisp drive down the ground to the long off fence for a four.
