A dominating showing by Australia on Day 1 as they cruise to 40 for no loss in 16 overs after they had bowled out India for a paltry 189.

Lyon was the star performer with the ball for Australia as he claimed career-best figures of eight for 50 to send the hosts crashing on the opening day after they had elected to bat first.

KL Rahul was the only Indian batsman to get a grip of the conditions as he played a splendid innings of 90.

In reply, openers Warner and Renshaw were unbeaten on 23 and 15 respectively to lay a solid foundation for Australia.

India would need a few quick wickets early on Day 2 to make a comeback in this match or else they could be staring at a huge lead if Australia manage to play out the first session.
