TEA -DAY 1

India 168
-5 (59 ovs) vs Aus | Scorecard

Another disappointing session for the Indians with the bat as they go into the tea break at 168 for five in 59 overs.

They lost three wickets for 96 runs in 31.1 overs in the post-lunch session as Australia looked firmly in control on the opening day.

Local boy Rahul was the only batsman to provide some resistance as he was unbeaten on 79 at the tea break, having hit nine fours in 175-ball knock, while Ashwin was unbeaten on five.

The Australian spinners broke the backbone of the Indian batting in the post-lunch session with the wickets of Kohli, Rahane and Karun.

Kohli was trapped leg before wicket for 12 after he offered no stroke to Lyon, who also accounted for the struggling Rahane for 17, who was stumped.

Karun hit a brisk 26 before he also gave his wicket away as he came down the track to O'Keefe but was beaten and stumped by Wade.

Lyon was Australia's best bowler and gave the Indian batsmen a lot of trouble as he took three for 40 in 10 overs, while Starc and O'Keefe picked a wicket each.
