India 19-0 (6 ovs) vs Aus; Target: 106 | Scorecard

A dominating performance by India as they finish the day on 19 for no loss after being set 106 for victory with Rahul on 13 and Vijay on six at stumps. They still need another 87 runs to win the Test match and also the four-match series.

Earlier, India's bowlers produced a superb display with the ball to send Australia crashing for 137 in their second innings.

Umesh, Ashwin and Jadeja picked up three wickets each while Bhuvneshwar claimed the key wicket of Steve Smith.

Glenn Maxwell was the top scorer for Australia with 45, while Wade was left stranded on 25 as the visitors struggled on a pitch offering both the pacers and spinners some assistance on the third day.

India will be hoping to score the remaining runs on Day 4 and complete a deserved victory.

India 19-0 (6 ovs) vs Aus; Target: 106 | Scorecard

Vijay plays a loose shot outside the off-stump against Cummins as he is beaten with the ball going past the edge. The last ball hits Vijay on the pads on the leg stump as Australia appeal for LBW but umpire Marais Erasmus turns it down. Strangely, Australia take the DRS review despite Smith initially not convinced about the review. As expected the ball is clearly going down the leg side and also bouncing high as Australia waste their review.

Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe to bowl the final over of the day. The first ball turns and bounces as Rahul is beaten all ends up trying to defend. But the right-hander manages to see off the rest of the over to end a good day of cricket for the Indians.

Cummins tries another short ball to Rahul who lets it go before he turns the next ball on the leg side for one. Vijay keeps strikes with a single from the last ball as India are off to a confident start.

Unlike the Indian pacers, Australia's fast bowlers have not been able to make any impression with the new ball.

Hazlewood overpitches as Vijay flicks it through midwicket and the two openers sprint across for three runs. The pacer produces a beauty to beat Rahul outside the off-stump who has a poke, playing away from his body and is fortunate that the ball missed the edge.

India are off to a confident start, as they reach 19 for no loss in four overs with Rahul racing to 13 from 12 balls with the help of three fours while Vijay has made six from the same number of deliveries.

Pat Cummins to open the bowling for Australia and he will certainly take a cue from India's fast bowlers, who bowled a superb spell first up.

KL Rahul to take edges the second ball as he looks to drive a wide delivery but it goes past the slips for a four. However, he gets the next ball bang off the middle, hitting it past mid-off for another boundary.

Cummins tries a short ball which he leaves alone before he bowls it full and straight as Rahul clips it square on the leg side for the third four of the over.

Cummins ends the over with another bouncer which Rahul easily ducks under to end a productive first over for the Indians.

Josh Hazlewood looking to bowl it full but Vijay is watchful unlike his partner Rahul. Vijay drives the first ball square as Maxwell misfields at point to give away two runs. Vijay is happy to defend and get his eye in, also with another four overs to go he would be happy to play for stumps.

Aus 137-all out (53.5 ovs) & 300 vs India 332 | Scorecard

He sweeps the next ball square on the leg side between two fielders for two runs and takes a single from the fifth ball to give lastman Josh Hazlewood just one ball to face, which he blocks carefully.

Wade throws his bat at a wide delivery from Umesh and gets an edge but Ashwin at first slip puts down a simple chance. The bowler Umesh is not at all impressed as India put down their second chance in the slips in this innings.

Wonder why Rahane has taken himself out of the slips, he has taken some superb catches at that position today. He has moved to mid-on to have a discussion with his fast bowler.

Wade plays two cracking drives through the off-side but on both occasions he finds the fielders, at mid-off and covers respectively. Umesh then drops short as Wade goes back and cuts it past point for a four to take Australia's lead past the 100-run mark.

He drives the next ball to mid-on where Rahane misfields to give away two runs as Wade is clearly unhappy that Hazlewood didn't make an attempt to take the third to deny him the strike for the next over.

But two balls later, Hazlewood is trapped leg before wicket which is given out by the on field umpire and the batsman reviews it immediately.

Wade takes a single off the first ball which leaves No. 10 Lyon exposed to Umesh for the remaining five deliveries. However, he last two more deliveries as he flirts with a wide outswinger and is caught at second slip by Vijay.

Australia are reduced to 121 for eight, with an overall lead of 89 runs.

They will need Wade to change his tactics and score some runs with just two wickets remaining. He has shown a lot of patience so far, scoring nine from 78 balls.

Jadeja ends the partnership as Cummins looks to drive but gets an edge and is caught by Rahane at slip after scoring 12. A full delivery just outside the off-stump which tempted Cummins to have a go but the ball turned enough to take the edge.

Steve O'Keefe gets a similar delivery but he is lucky not to edge it and he blocks the last ball of the over.

Jadeja gets Cummins to edge one but it falls short of Rahane at slip who does well to stop it on the bounce.

Ashwin in the 12th over of his spell and he seems to be a bit tired. He bowls a wide half volley which Cummins drive nicely through the covers for a four.

Jadeja sends down another quick over as Australia reach 120 for six in 46 overs, for an overall lead of 88 runs.

Cummins looks to come forward to defend Ashwin but gets an inside edge which goes past leg slip for a couple to get him off the mark.

Both Cummins and Wade struggling to read the two spinners but have somehow managed to keep the bowlers at bay.

Ashwin bowling a good spell as he gets one to turn big off the crack, beating Wade's defensive prod.

In the next over, Maxwell breaks the shackles as he powerfully sweeps Jadeja for a four through square leg. Two balls later Jadeja gets one to spin enough to beat the defensive shot as Saha whips off the bails but Maxwell's feet are back in the crease.

Maxwell goes after Kuldeep in his second over. He comes down the track and drives it through the covers for a four before he lofts the next one straight back over the bowler's head for a six. The young spinners comes back well as he bowls one which bounces and turns the other way and Maxwell does well to adjust at the last minute.

In the next over, Jadeja also gets one to bounce extra as Handscomb looks to defend but gets an edge which lobs on the off-side but falls safely.
13:32

Aus 50-3 (13 ovs) & 300 vs India 332 | Scorecard

Australia in trouble as they are reduced to 31 for three, still trailing by one run.

Glenn Maxwell picks a single to bring Australia level which means the visitors are effectively three wickets for no runs.
image
13:02   Smith bowled for 17, Australia lose 2nd wicket

Aus 31-2 (8.3 ovs) & 300 vs India 332 | Scorecard

It will be interesting to see how India counter Smith, who has already made three centuries in this series so far.

Bhuvneshwar bowls it wide outside the off-stump and when he comes a bit closer to the stumps Smith shuffles across and turns it on the leg side for one.

Renshaw is beaten off the last ball as Bhuvi gets it to move away enough past the outside edge of the bat.

Smith again turns Umesh on the leg side and comes back for a couple before Renshaw plays out the over.

This has been a superb spell of fast bowling by the two Indian pacers.

Umesh slants one across Renshaw, who gets an edge as he pokes at it but it goes on the bounce to Vijay at second slip. The next ball is short down the leg side as the tall left-hander helps it fine on the leg side for a four.

Smith looks to counter-attack like he did in the first innings. He pulls a short ball from Bhuvneshwar square on the leg side for a four. The pacer then bowls it full and a bit wide as Smith drives it through the covers for another four.

However, Bhuvneshwar gets revenge as Smith looks to pull it from outside the off-stump but he gets an inside edge and is bowled for 17.

12:40   Warner fails with the bat, Aus lose early wicket

Aus 15-1 (4 ovs) & 300 vs India 332 | Scorecard

Bhuvneshwar takes a clue from Umesh as he starts with a quick short delivery which hits Warner on the shoulder as he looks to defend. India's fast bowlers have come out firing on all cylinders.

Bhuvneshwar bowls it full as Warner goes after it and gets an edge which is put down by Karun at third slip, his second drop of the match after he had dropped Warner off the first ball of the match on Day 1.

This was a much easier catch at a good height to his left but Karun again grassed as Rahane tried to take it on the rebound but was unable to take it.

Warner profitted from the drop in the first innings as he hit a half-century and it remains to be seen how much he scores in this innings.

But he doesn't make most of the lifeline as Umesh dismisses him in the very next over. He bowls a perfect outswinger as Warner pokes at it to get a fine edge which is caught by wicketkeeper Saha.

In-form Steve Smith takes no time to get going. Umesh bowls a bit straighter as Smith flicks it through square leg for a four and then gets a single on the leg side.
12:28

Aus 9-0 (1 ov) & 300 vs India 332 | Scorecard

India will be buoyed by the lead even though it's a slender one. They will hope the fast bowlers -- Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar --  can make the new ball count before they let loose their spin trio.

Bhuvneshwar to open the bowling and he straightaway hits the right area just outside the off-stump as Matt Renshaw defends the first two balls before he edges the third which goes low and sneaks through the gap in the slips for a four to get Australia off the mark.

Umesh Yadav from the other end. The first ball is short and wide as David Warner slashes it through the off-side for a four to get off the mark in confident fashion.

He takes quick single off the next ball before Umesh bowls a good delivery which just goes past the outside edge of Renshaw's bat.

Umesh then bowls an absolute jaffer, a quick bouncer which Renshaw looks to fend and is lucky not to have gloved it. A superb first over from Umesh as he made a good comeback after a loose first delivery.
11:43   Lyon takes 5, India bowled out for 332

LUNCH - DAY 3

Jadeja top scored with an entertaining innings of 63, having hit four sixes and four boundaries in his 95-ball knock.

He put on 96 runs for the seventh wicket with Saha, who chipped with 31, before India lost their last four wickets for 15 runs.

Overall, it was a good morning session for the Indians as they scored 84 runs for the loss of four wickets on the third day.

Having done well with the bat, India would be hoping to pick up a few early wickets with the new ball which would put Australia under a lot of pressure.

11:38   Lyon takes 5, India bowled out for 332

India 332-all out (118.1 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

With Jadeja dismissed, captain Smith immediately brings back left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe into the attack for the first time on Day 3.

He strikes in his very first over with the wicket of Bhuvneshwar, who plays away from his body and gets an edge which is well held by Smith at slip.

Cummins bags another wicket with the bouncer as Saha can only fend as he lobs it on the off-side where Smith does well to take a one-handed catch high over his right.

Saha walks back after a good knock of 31 as India are reduced to 318 for nine, having lost three wickets for two runs in the space of 12 deliveries.

Umesh Yadav gets off the mark with a single on the leg side. Cummins bowls another quick bouncer which goes way over Kuldeep Yadav and even beats wicketkeeper Wade to give India four byes.

Kuldeep pushes Cummins straight through the vacant mid-on region for a single to register his first runs in Test cricket.

In the next over, Kuldeep brings his front foot out and sweeps O'Keefe powerfully square on the leg side for a four. The debutant left-hander is no mug with the bat, having hit a hundred for his state team UP in first class cricket.

Lyon comes back and strikes with the wicket of Kuldeep, who is caught on the fine leg fence for seven.

India are bowled out for 332 in their first innings as they take a 32-run lead.
11:16   Jadeja out for 63, India lose 7th wicket

India 317-7 (113 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Part-time off-spinner Glenn Maxwell comes into the attack, replacing Hazlewood. India continue to keep the scoreboard moving as they pick three easy singles in the over.

Change in the bowling as pacer Cummins comes back into the attack. The first ball is a quick bouncer as Jadeja looks to pull but misses and is hit on the helmet.

The next ball is again short as Jadeja lets it go this time around. Cummins is becoming a bit too predictable as he sends down another short ball and this time Jadeja is waiting for it as he pulls it over midwicket for a four.

Another quick bouncer as Jadeja crashes it over fine leg, that was not entirely convincing but he manages to get it over the fence for a six.

Australia immediately go on the defensive as Cummins resorts to bowling a bit fuller and outside the off-stump and Jadeja is happy to defend.

Maxwell continues as India pick another couple of singles from the over to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Cummins finally makes the first breakthrough for Australia on the third day with the key wicket of Jadeja. The left-hander tries to drive it on the up through the off-side but gets an inside edge to be bowled after a fine innings of 63.

Jadeja was instrumental in helping India take the lead, as he hit four sixes and four boundaries in his 95-ball knock, while he added 96 runs for the seventh wicket with Saha.

New batsman Bhuvneshwar Kumar confidently defends the rest of the over, blocking the full deliveries while ducking under a bouncer.

10:58   Jadeja hits half-century to give India the lead

India 302-6 (109 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Australia endure further frustration as Jadeja's edge off Lyon goes past the slip fielder for a four. Beautiful bowling from the off-spinner as he makes Jadeja play at it but somehow he gets it wide of Smith at slip.

A single off the next ball for Jadeja and another run for the left-hander off Hazlewood in the next over brings the deficit under 10.

The two batsmen have done well to rotate the strike against Lyon and not let him settle down against the left-right combination.

Saha finally brings out the sweep as he turns Lyon to fine leg for one as the over goes for four runs.

A frustrated Hazlewood has a few words with Saha after he ducks under a bouncer. He then strikes Saha on the pads with a full delivery but umpire Ian Gould turns it down signalling an inside edge.

However, Australia still take the DRS which clearly shows the edge before it hits the pads and they lose their last remaining review.

Nothing going right for Australia so far on Day 3 as India continue to make good progress and inch closer to 300.

Jadeja steers Lyon past point for a couple to give India the lead. He then steals a quick single off the last ball to complete his seventh Test fifty from 83 balls.
10:33   Jadeja, Saha drive India forward on Day 3

India 285-6 (104 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Jadeja again does well to tap Lyon on the off-side and get off strike with a single. Saha is beaten by one as it turns big and goes off the thigh pads with Australia appealing for a catch at short leg but the umpire is not interested.

Lyon then gets one to turn and bounce as Saha is again beaten but he manages to play out the over.

Hazlewood comes back as he replaces Cummins. The first ball is full as Jadeja is hit on the pads but the LBW appeal is turned down and rightly so with the ball pitching outside the leg stump. Two balls later, Jadeja slashes a wide delivery behind point for a four before the pacer makes a good comeback with one that comes in from the round the wicket and goes past the inside edge and over the stumps.

Saha has not tried anything fancy today. He looked quite shaky at the start of his innings late on Day 2 and was even dropped at first slip but today he has looked quite solid. He picks up another quiet single off Lyon before Jadeja defends the rest of the over.

The first hour has gone to script for India as they reach 285 for six in 104 overs, having scored 37 runs in 13 overs without losing a wicket.

Jadeja has provided the impetus, having scored 37 with the help of three sixes and two fours, while Saha has looked solid on 24.

10:15   Jadeja, Saha drive India forward on Day 3

India 279-6 (100 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Saha has once again shown great discipline and temperament to grind it out in the middle. The wicketkeeper-batsman has played more than 50 balls and is content to play second fiddle to Jadeja, who has been the one looking for runs.

Cummins tries a bouncer and Saha easily ducks under it before he steers a wide delivery past point for two runs. He then pokes his bat at a wide delivery but is beaten before he defends the last ball.

Jadeja doing well to keep the scoreboard ticking. He taps Hazlewood to the left of thirdman and rushes back for the second despite Glenn Maxwell patrolling the boundary. There is a huge appeal for LBW off the last ball but the ball has pitched outside the leg stump as Jadeja shuffled across to turn it on the leg side and was struck in line.

India are 260 for six in 90 overs, trailing Australia by 40 runs, who make their first bowling change of the day as off-spinner Nathan Lyon comes into the attack.

After three singles from the first three balls, Jadeja lofts the last ball of Lyon's over straight down the ground for his third six of the innings, to take his score to 29.

In the next over, Saha steers Cummins wide of thirdman for two runs to get his 1000 runs in Test cricket. That also brings up the 50-run stand for the seventh wicket as India start to inch closer to the 300-run mark.

Cummins overpitches as Jadeja steers through point and comes back for three. Saha gets a thick outside edge off the last ball which goes past the gully fielder for a four.

10 runs from the over takes India to 279 for six in 100 overs, as the deficit goes down to just 21 runs.

Jadeja has stroked his way to 33, while Saha has made 23 with the duo putting on 58 runs so far for the seventh wicket.

Pat Cummins to start off proceedings on Day 3 and facing him is Ravindra Jadeja. The first ball is right on the mark, full and moving away, as Jadeja looks to drive but is beaten as Australians appeal for caught behind. Umpire Ian Gould rules it out but Jadeja straightaway takes the DRS which shows that the ball missed the edge.

Two balls later, there is a confident leg before wicket appeal against the left-hander but the ball pitched outside leg stump. He goes after the next ball but is beaten by one which slants across him before he gets an inside edge off the fifth ball, the first time he gets some bat on the ball as he somehow keeps out a good testing over.

Pace from both ends to begin the day. Saha drives Hazlewood's second ball through the off-side for two runs to bring up India's 250, in the 93rd over.

Jadeja struggled in the first over of the day but he drives the first ball of Cummins's next over straight back past the pace bowler for a boundary. Cummins pulls his length back a bit, not allowing the batsman to play the drive as Jadeja sees off the rest of the over.

India 248-6 (91 ovs) vs Aus 300 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the fourth and final Test between India and Australia in Dharamsala on Monday.

The Test match is evenly poised after two thrilling days of cricket with neither side being able to grab the initiative.

Just when it looked India were taking the upperhand, Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon disrupted their plans with a fine spell in the final session on the second day.

Lyon claimed four wickets in the final session to halt India's progress and help restrict the hosts to 248 for six.

At 157 for two, and with the dependable Cheteshwar Pujara and stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane looking set in the middle, India appeared to have the upper hand before Lyon (4-67) intervened after the tea break.

In the first over of the final session, Lyon sent back Pujara for 57 and went on to dismiss Karun Nair, Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin to deflate the hosts.

India will look to Ravindra Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha to take them close to the 200-run mark. Jadeja smashed a couple of sixes and was batting on 16 at the close, while Wriddhiman Saha was on 10, having survived two reviews and a dropped catch.

India are still 52 runs behind Australia's first innings total of 300 in the decider of the four-Test series which is level at 1-1.
