22:55   Rain stops SRH vs KKR match, check out possible scenarios

Sunrisers 128-7 (20 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

  • If play starts by 11.52pm, KKR gets full 20 overs to bat
  • If play starts by 12.58 am, KKR's target reduces to 41 in 5 overs
  • The cut-off time for the 'Super Over' in case there is no further play is 1.20am

Meanwhile, it is raining heavily at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru which means that the start of the KKR innings is delayed.

If there is no further play possible then Sunrisers will be declared as the winners on the basis on having finished third in the league standings ahead of KKR, who took fourth place.

But that is still a long way as the IPL Playing conditions for play-off matches mentions that 1.02 am is the cut-off time incase of a 5-over innings. And given the new drainage facility at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, which will ensure that the match resumes in around 15 minutes once the rain stops, it will need the rain to continue all night for the match to be called off.

Incase, their innings is reduced to 5 overs, KKR's target as the per the Duckworth-Lewis calculation is 41.

However, if it is not possible to get the KKR innings underway then 1.20am is the cut-off time to conduct the Super Over which will decide the winner, who play Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to decide who advances to the final to take on Rising Pune Supergiant.

Stay tuned!

21:38   KKR restrict Sunrisers to 128 in Eliminator

Sunrisers 128-7 (20 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Boult starts the final over with a dot ball to Ojha, who gets an inside edge before he drives the next ball through the covers for two runs with Suryakumar Yadav doing well running to his left at long-off to stop the boundary.

He tries a bouncer which goes high and is called a wide before he bowls a yorker which Ojha digs out on the off-side for one.

Bipul gets a single off the fourth ball before Ojha pulls a short ball to midwicket were Ishank Jaggi puts in the dive to stop the four close to the ropes.

Boult is rewarded with a wicket off the final ball as Ojha is caught at short thirdman for 16.

A superb performance with the ball by KKR as they restrict Sunrisers to a modest 128 for seven in their 20 overs.
21:32   Coulter-Nile's double strike cripples Sunrisers

Sunrisers 121-6 (19 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Narine getting a good amount of turn as Naman Ojha struggles to read and plays three dot balls in a row before he steals a quick single to point and Shankar also gets one followed by another dot as just two runs come from the 17th over.

He may have not picked up a wicket but Narine played a key role in building up the pressure from his end, giving away just 20 runs in his four overs.

Shankar, who hit a half-century in the previous game, is playing a vital knock. He lofts left-arm pacer Boult straight down the ground for a four and two balls later Ojha clears the straight boundary for a much-needed six to get 13 runs from the 18th over.

Coulter-Nile comes back and strikes with the very first delivery. Shankar, who made 22 from 17 balls, goes for another big hit but is caught at long-on as Sunrisers lose their fifth wicket.

Two balls later, he takes a good return catch to his left on his follow through to send back Chris Jordan for a duck.

Coulter-Nile makes a superb comeback with splendid figures of three for 20 in four overs.

21:19   Yuvraj falls for 9, Sunrisers in trouble

Sunrisers 103-4 (16 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Umesh comes back for his second spell. And he strikes with the key wicket of Yuvraj, who goes after a short ball but is caught at deep square leg for nine.

That wicket will dent Sunrisers's hopes big time of getting to a good total in the last few overs.

Umesh concedes just five in his final over to finish with two for 21 in his four overs.

21:11

Sunrisers 98-3 (15 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Narine comes back as new batsman Vijay Shankar swings the third ball over midwicket for a four.

He takes a single before KKR have three fielders close in at slip, gully and silly point for Yuvraj, who is content to defend the last two balls of the over, which goes for just five runs.

Sunrisers go after Chawla as Yuvraj smashes him down the ground powerfully for a four before Shankar lofts him over long-on for a six to get 13 from the over.

Sunrisers are 98 for three in 15 overs with Shankar on 14 and Yuvraj on nine.
21:02   Warner and Williamson perish, KKR in control

Sunrisers 80-3 (13 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Warner has shown a lot of restraint in this innings, not taking any unnecessary risks while waiting for the loose deliveries.

Narine drops short and Warner is ready and waiting as he pulls it over midwicket for a six to get 10 from the over.

A good spell for Sunrisers with 23 coming from the last two overs to boost their scoring rate slightly.

Coulter-Nile checks Sunrisers's progress with the wicket of Williamson, who looks for a big hit over the off-side but is caught in the covers for 24.

In the next over, Warner is bowled by Chawla for 37 as Sunrisers slip to 75 for three, in the 13th over.

Yuvraj Singh gets a boundary as Ishank Jaggi misfields at long-off to give away a four.
20:48   Sunrisers struggle after early wicket, KKR on top

Sunrisers 61-1 (10 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Sunil Narine comes into the attack to bowl the sixth over. He starts with three dot balls to Kane Williamson before Sunrisers pick just three singles from the last three balls.

The defending champions have struggled in the Powerplay, managing just 30 runs in six overs with Warner on 15 from as many balls and Williamson on three.

Interesting that KKR bring in part-time spinner Yusuf Pathan ahead of specialist pace bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Williamson makes room before he drives Yusuf through the covers for a four to get seven from the over.

Coulter-Nile comes in from the other end. He missed a few matches after being struck on the helmet by a bouncer but he makes a superb start with the ball, conceding just two singles as Williamson plays four dot balls in a row.

Just 19 runs from the last five overs as KKR continue to build the pressure with some disciplined bowling.

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla comes into the attack. He bowls a long hop as Warner pulls the second ball over midwicket for a six to bring up 4000 runs in the IPL from 114 matches becoming the first overseas player and fifth overall to go past the landmark.

Chawla makes a good comeback after that six as he ends up giving away just nine from his first over.

The wicket is not easy for batting and Sunrisers will need something special to break free against this disciplined bowling by KKR.

Williamson walks across his stumps and flicks Coulter-Nile over midwicket for a four. The next ball is a bit short as Williamson again goes across and pulls it over square leg for a six.

Warner has got bogged down considerably. He misses out on a full toss as he is unable to beat the fielder at midwicket and then pulls the next ball to long-on for one.

Sunrisers are 61 for one in 10 overs, with Warner on 27 and Williamson on 22.

20:26   Dhawan out for 11, Sunrisers lose early wicket

Sunrisers 27-1 (5 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

KKR's pacers doing well to keep both Warner and Dhawan in a tight leash, not allowing them to break free with boundaries in the early overs.

Boult bowls a tidy second over, conceding just five runs before the pressure pays off.

Dhawan looks to swing Umesh on the leg side but miscues it and is caught by Uthappa for 11.

Just two overs from Umesh's third over, he has good figures one for 16 in three overs with Sunrisers struggling on 27 for one in five overs.

20:16   Sunrisers off to a steady start vs KKR

Sunrisers 20-0 (3 ovs) vs KKR | Scorecard

Umesh Yadav opens the bowling for KKR. Two singles from the first two balls for David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan before the former slashes a wide delivery over the off-side for a four and takes a single from the last ball to keep strike.

Left-arm Trent Boult to bowl from the other end. He also makes a good start, giving away just two singles from the first five balls before Warner hammers the last ball down the ground for a four.

Sunrisers doing well to get a boundary every over and keep the scoreboard moving in the early over.

Dhawan gets his first four as he pulls a short ball from Umesh past short fine leg as Sunrisers reach 20 for no loss in three overs.

19:42   KKR elect to bowl, Yuvraj back for Sunrisers
KKR captain Gautam Gambhir has won the toss and elected to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator match in Bengaluru, on Wednesday.

The defending champions have been boosted by the return of the fit-again Yuvraj Singh, who has recovered from his finger injury. Kane Williamson, Chris Jordan and Bipul Sharma have also been included in place of Moises Henriques, Mohammed Nabi and Mohammed Siraj.

KKR have also made four changes with Manish Pandey ruled out injury and is replaced by Suryakumar Yadav, while Nathan Coulter-Nile has made a comeback from his injury as he replaces Colin de Grandhomme. Ishank Jaggi gets his first match of IPL-10 as he takes the place of Ankit Rajoot and Piyush Chawla comes in for Kuldeep Yadav.

19:26   Can KKR bowlers stop Warner in Eliminator?
Welcome to the coverage of the Eliminator match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru, on Wednesday.

Two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders will have to break the agonising sequence of debacles when they clash with defending champions Sunrisers.

The winner of Wednesday's match will face the loser of Qualifier 1 between Mumbai Indians and Rising Supergiants Pune on May 19 in the second Qualifier, which will decide the second entrant of the final.

For KKR, it would take a significant turnaround to reach the second qualifier after they lost four out of seven matches in the latter half of the season.

The Shah Rukh Khan-owned side would like to find their form which saw them dominate the early stages of competition. KKR would hope Chris Lynn comes to the party, who has the ability to win a game on his own.

Lynn had scored a quick-fire fifty off just 21 balls, which was laced with five fours and four sixes, on his return at Chinnaswamy last month, after recovering from an injury.

Defending champions Sunrisers, on the other hand, won eight games while lost five in their 14 league games to end the league stage at third position with 17 points.

The team cemented their play-offs berth on the back of a superb eight-wicket win over Gujarat Lions in their last league match.

Hyderabad will be hoping skipper David Warner continues his imperious form as the explosive opener has registered 600 -plus runs in back-to-back seasons.

He was the league's second-highest run-scorer during the franchise's maiden triumph last year. The Australian has shown great leadership qualities to keep his side on course for a second successive IPL triumph.

Unless KKR get Warner out early, they will struggle to contain Hyderabad. They would also struggle if left- handed Shikhar Dhawan gets going.

Dhawan has scored a sensational 468 runs so far this season, which forced selectors to pick him for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
