IPL updates: Mumbai Indians beat KKR by 6 wkts to enter final

It's going to be a Maharashtra derby in the IPL final on Sunday as Mumbai take on Pune after beating Kolkata comprehensively by 6 wickets.

Mumbai need just 3 off the 36 balls but Umesh Yadav starts with a horrible wide. 

Pollard then digs out the yorker for a run.

Krunal Pandya gets the winning runs. He flashes hard and the ball goes up in the air but the fielder fails to get to the ball at third man and is beaten to the ball as it falls on the boundary line. 

Mumbai Indians will face Pune Supergiant in the final on Sunday.

16 needed off 41 and Rajpoot has been handed the ball. 

A short ball and Pollard pulls it for a boundary, Grandhomme's shoddy fielding gifts Mumbai a four.

Rajpoot follows that with a wide,

A good piece of fielding now by Umesh Yadav at third man denies Pandya a boundary.

Rajpoot bowls another wide and he is doing his team no favours here. 

Mumbai need just 7 now.

Just 20 needed of the over and Coulter-Nile comes in to bowl.

And he does the damage. 

Rohit Sharma pulls, only to find Umesh Yadav at square leg boundary. 

Good catch by Yadav and a careless shot by Sharma at this point.

Kieron Pollard comes in to bat. 

Krunal Pandya gets a run and now Pollard faces Coulter-Nile.

Coulter-Nile bowls a peach to Pollard.

Pollard off the mark with a couple down to square leg. 

Pandya now takes on Narine.

He starts the over with helping the ball down to backward point for a boundary.

Two balls later, Pandya goes inside out to send the ball for a four through covers.

That is 8 runs off the over.

Chawla continues, bowls a loopy delivery and is sent to long off for a single.

Chawla over-pitches and Pandya sends it down to long-off boundary.

Here is another four on the on-side.

And Rohit goes big! He tonks the last ball off the over for a huge six over the bowlers head. 

That is the most expensive over of the innings as Chawla is hammered for 16 runs.

Narine continues.

He gives away just three runs and Krunal Pandya nearly chops it onto his stumps.

Chawla back in the attack.

Rohit drives and drives well through the covers for a superbly timed boundary.

He then gets an inside edge off the wrong one and he is lucky to get a single on the on-side for that.

Pandya sweeps the ball fine, gets an under edge and the ball races down to fine leg for a boundary.

He cuts the next ball for a single.

Rohit ends the over with another single on the on side and the umpire signals the Time-out.

Coulter-Nile back in the attack.

Krunal Pandya takes one run off the first ball.

Rohit Sharma then takes a single down to third man.

Pandya strikes the ball on the up and gallops for a couple. 

The ball just stopped on Rohit and he was lucky to have no fielder in the in field and he gets a run to long-on.

Sunil Narine continues.

Rohit Sharma gets three runs off the first two deliveries.

Pandya helps the ball down to fine leg for a boundary.

The over ends with a single down to the on-side.

Piyush Chawla comes back into the attack and gets his second wicket.

That is a drifter, the ball goes straight and Rayudu is bowled all ends up.

That is the third wicket down.

Krunal Pandya comes to the crease and gets off the mark with a couple of runs down to square leg.

A wicket and just 4 runs off the over.

Off-break bowler Narine comes into the attack and gives away just 2 runs in the over! 

What a tidy over that.

Nathan Coulter-Nile comes into the attack.

Rayudu and Rohit Sharma are happy to just nudge the ball around and run the singles and twos.

Parthiv Patel goes after clobbering Umesh Yadav for consecutive fours off the first two deliveries. 

Patel goes for the big drive but gets the edge and is caught behind by Uthappa.

Rohit Sharma comes to the crease and that is 10 runs and a wicket off the over.

Simmons is trapped leg before off the third ball of the over.

A wristy shot by Parthiv and a single down to deep mid-wicket brings an end to the over.

Umesh Yadav opens the bowling for KKR.

Kolkata batsmen have caved in here for 107 all out within 19 overs. 

This is a disappointing show by KKR but a fairly easy target for Mumbai to achieve. 

Malinga comes into the attack and starts with a slower delivery.

Umesh Yadav takes a single down to deep mid-wicket.

Rajpoot survives a slower ball that is a yorker and another one. 

Malinga then bowls another superb slower delivery to fox the batsmen and send the wickets rattling. 

Rajpoot out for 4.

Bumrah brought back into the attack and strikes with his first ball. 

Suryakumar Yadav tries to hoick the ball over long-on but an awkward catch by Malinga at long leg brings an end to a fighting knock by Suryakumar Yadav. 

Ankit Rajpoot gets a lucky boundary, he gets an inside edge and the ball races to the fine leg boundary.

KKR 101-8 (17 ovs) vs MI | Scorecard

Mitchell Johnson continues.

And he has started with 2 wides. 

He gets his first wicket as Piyush Chawla gets a bottom edge and Ambati Rayudu takes a simple catch at mid-off for the 7th KKR wicket.

Coulter-Nile is the new batsman at the crease and gets down to business from the word go. 

He pulls Johnson for a huge six to bring up KKR's 100.

Johnson comes back strongly to have Coulter-Nile dismissed.

The batsman fails to read the slower delivery and whacks it hard only to find Pandya at long-on.

Hardik Pandya comes into the attack and Piyush Chawla is the new batsman at the crease. 

And he makes Chawla make smell leather.

A slower ball next, it gets a good bounce and Chawla is tempted to play it down behind the batsman. Good for him, he did not get an edge.

Four runs come off the over.

Jaggi and Yadav now playing freely.

Jaggi opens himself up and sends the ball down to leg side. 

Good work by Krunal Pandya at the square leg boundary to keep it down to a a single.

Karn Sharma strikes again.

Jaggi tries to loft Sharma, does not get to the pitch of the delivery and no flight means the ball is straight in the hands of Johnson in the deep.

That is end of Karn Sharma's spell and he has recorded his best bowling figures with 4-16.

KKR 83-5 (14 ovs) vs MI | Scorecard

Jaggi now goes after Malinga, fires a four through mid-wicket.

Jaggi's well timed shot only gives him a single.

The batsmen are happy to rotate the strike.

Yadav ends the over with a boundary through long on. What a shot!

That brings up the 50-run partnership.

Yadav sweeps Pandya for a boundary through square.

He then plays an inside-out shot to get another four over extra cover.

Yadav then takes a run. 

Jaggi then gets a run at deep square leg.

10 off the over.

Johnson back in the attack and is welcomed by a boundary!

Jaggi runs down the wicket and hits it through covers for a four.

The batsmen run three down to deep mid-wicket, nice fielding by Rayudu at the boundary.

Nice! A fast one and Yadav gets under the ball well. 

That was nearly a run-out! 

The batsmen run a risky single and a bad throw hands KKR a lifeline. 

Jaggi tries to whack the ball on the on-side but finds a fielder at short mid-on.

Yadav takes Pandya to the cleaners, he finally gets the big hit, a flat six to deep square leg.

The batsmen then take two quick singles.

10 runs come off the over.

Malinga comes back into the attack.

Jaggi tries to go after the bowler, runs down the track but misses the ball completely and it runs down to the keeper.

OUCH! Jaggi gets the ball right on his gloves. 

Jaggi then gets one run to mid-off.

Yadav tucks the ball to the on-side for a single.

The batsmen then run off the final ball and that is 4 runs off the over.

The hat-trick ball from Karn Sharma was a superb one! Jaggi nearly edged it to the slip. 

Jaggi gets off the strike with an easy single.

Yadav plays the ball down the ground on the off side for a run.

Jaggi gets another run and that is a over with just 3 runs coming off it.

KKR 36-5 (8 ovs) vs MI | Scorecard

Suryakumat Yadav joins Jaggi at the crease as Krunal Pandya comes into bowl.

Pandya does well to give away just 5 runs in the over. 

Karn continues and is dispatched for a boundary through covers by Gambhir.

Karn strikes again! The ball is tossed up, Gambhir is tempted by the flight and he goes for a big heave only to find Hardik Pandya waiting at the deep mid-wicket boundary. 

Gambhir gone for 12.

KKR lose the 5th wicket.

Colin de Grandhomme is out for a golden duck. Karn Sharma sends down another googly that Grandhomme fails to read and is hit on the back pad. Umpire has no hesitation to raise the finger.

Bumrah brought back into the attack and strikes in his second ball.

He bowls a quicker one and it catches Uthappa on the knee roll and inside the pitch. Appeal is made and the umpire raises the finger. 

Uthappa gone for 1.

Jaggi comes in to bat but is yet to get off the mark

It's a wicket-maiden for Bumrah.

20:27   KKR lose Narine early

KKR 25-2 (5 ovs) vs MI | Scorecard

Leggie Karn Sharma comes into the attack inside the Powerplay.

Both batsmen take a run each off the first three overs.

Sharma foxes Narine! It's a googly!

Narine comes down the track and wants to launch the ball, but misses it completely and is stumped out by Parthiv Patel for 10.

Uthappa comes into bat and gets off the mark with a single down to the on side.

Good start by Karn and MI here.

Rohit brings Malinga into the attack and he raps Narine on the pad, makes a half-hearted appeal but umpire not interested.

Gambhir runs a quick single.

Narine gets the first six of the evening. He uses the pace of the ball and plays it off his pads to send it sailing over deep square leg.

Gambhir plays and misses. 

9 runs off the Malinga over. Wonder why he didn't continue with wicket-taker Bumrah at this end.

Johnson comes over the wicket and Narine seems ill at ease. 

Narine tucks one down to square leg for a run.

Gambhir gets off the mark with a beautiful drive through the covers.

He then gets a single on the leg side. 

Narine again plays the ball on the leg side, a short ball and it goes into his ribs. Nicely played by Narine.

That is called a no-ball.

KKR 5-1 (2 ovs) vs MI | Scorecard

Bumrah starts the second over and Lynn smashes the ball down to long on for a single.

Bumrah bowls two superb deliveries to new batsman Gambhir. 

Narine opens his account with a single.

Lynn goes after Bumrah but finds Pollard at mid-wicket.

KKR lose an early wicket.

Mitchell Johnson bowls to Chris Lynn who is opening the batting for KKR with Sunil Narine.

Two dot balls to start the proceedings but we can expect big hits from Lynn soon.

Johnson bowling over the wicket and a slower ball, giving Lynn no chance to go after him.

A swing and a miss! And all the 'oos and aahs' from the crowds become audible.

Lynn goes after Johmson, the pace gets to him, it's a mishit but it falls away from Lasith Malinga,who misfields it at short fine leg.

Johnson ends the over with a beautiful yorker. 

A good start for Mumbai, just 3 off the over.

19:43   Mumbai Indians take on KKR for place in final


It's toss time. 

Gautam Gambhir calls wrong and Mumbai Indians win the toss. Captain Rohit Sharma decides to field first.

Rohit Sharma reveals at the toss that his decision is based on the weather. 

"The wicket will play slow, but keeping weather in mind we will chase." he said.

Gambhir for his part said the KKR batsmen have to set a good total and defend it.

"Hopefully our batters can set up the match for the bowlers tonight," he said.

Mumbai have made one change with Mitchell Johnson coming in for the injured Mitchell McClenaghan, while Kolkata have left out the dangerous Yusuf Pathan who will be replaced by Ankit Rajpoot and Colin de Grandhomme comes in place of Trent Boult.

Welcome to the updates of the penultimate match of the Indian Premier League.

It's a do-or-die match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at Bengaluru.

Although there was light shower in the afternoon, the match officials have given the green light and the match will go ahead  on time. 

It will be a pressure game for KKR who have an abysmal 5-15 head-to-head record against Mumbai Indians -- Mumbai have beaten KKR twice in the league stage of the tournament this year.
