Colin Munro blasted a 58-ball 109 not out to power New Zealand to a crushing 40-run victory against India which helped them level the three-match series in Rajkot on Saturday.

Electing to bat, New Zealand amassed a huge 196 for two in 20 overs courtesy of Munro's blazing innings.

With the bat, India were never in the hunt after the openers Shikhar Dhawan (1) and Rohit Sharma (5) were dismissed early by Trent Boult.

Boult claimed four for 34 as India finished on a disappointing 156 for seven in their 20 overs on a good batting wicket.

Captain Virat Kohli waged a lone battle with the bat, hitting a quickfire 65 from 42 balls but he found no support from the other end as India came up with a poor batting display.

The third and final T20 match will be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, November 7.

Milne comes back as Dhoni hammers the first ball through the off-side for a four and then takes two runs to deep midwicket.

Santner drops Dhoni at long-off after he attempted a hit down the ground before he picks two on the leg side.

Dhoni flicks a full toss on the leg side for a four and keeps strike from the last ball.

The match is all but over with 49 needed from the last over for a victory.

Just as the crowd start leaving, Dhoni makes them turn their heads as he hammers Boult over midwicket for a six. The next ball is driven through the covers but Dhoni turns down the single.

He tries to pull Boult but mishits it straight into the hands of the fielder at square leg to perish after a sedate innings of 49 from 37 balls.

Two singles from the last two balls as India slip to defeat.

Boult comes back as Dhoni is happy to pick another run before Axar flicks it fine for a four.

He swings at the next ball but hits it straight to the fielder in the covers to perish for five.

Bhuvneshwar takes one to get off the mark and Dhoni keeps strike with one from the last ball.

Dhoni has struggled to 15 from as many balls and has also kept Kohli away from the strike, who has slammed 58 from 36 balls.

Dhoni struggles again as he plays two dot balls before pulling it to midwicket for one before Kohli comes down and drives Milne through the covers for a four.

The last ball is a yorker as Kohli keeps strike with one to point as Milne concedes just six from the over.

Kohli lofts Sodhi on the bounce to long-off for one and Dhoni again takes one as the run rate goes above 17.

Dhoni comes down and has a swing but is beaten. He finally makes proper connection as he smashes Sodhi over midwicket for a six. and then clips it to deep square for one to get 10 from the over.

Sodhi finishes with excellent figures of one for 25 in four overs.

Santner comes back as he beats Dhoni, who escapes a close call for stumping before he pulls the next to fine leg for one.

Kohli comes down but gets an edge off Santner and is caught behind after a superb knock of 65 from 42 balls.

Meanwhile, Dhoni swings again but fails to connect before he picks another single.

Santner concedes just three runs while picking up the wicket of Kohli to end India's hopes and end with good figures of one for 31.

The two Kiwi spinners have been excellent with the ball, taking two for 56 in their eight overs, to take the game away from India in the middle overs.

India need 72 from three overs for victory, which means they need a boundary off every delivery.

Kohli continues his attacking approach as he flicks Munro over midwicket for a four and then pulls the next square for two runs. They pick singles from the rest of the over to get 10 from it.

The equation is still very difficult for the Indians with 100 needed from seven overs for victory but the hosts have their two best batsmen out in the middle in Kohli and Dhoni.

Dhoni comes down the track to Sodhi, who beats him with a beautiful leg-spinner delivery and the wicketkeeper also fails to collect it as India pick up a couple of byes.

Dhoni connects with the next ball, this time hammering it over long-on for a six to take India past 100 but Sodhi makes a good comeback with three dot balls in a row before he picks one from the last ball.

Munro doing a good job with the ball as India can only pick singles off him, with four off the first five balls. Kohli releases some pressure as he slaps the last ball straight down the ground for a four.

Kohli is playing an unbelievable innings but with wickets falling regularly from the other end, the task is getting difficult for the Indians as the run rate goes above the 13-run per over mark.

Kohli plays another magnificent straight drive, hitting back over Santner's head for a four and then takes one to race to his fifty from just 32 balls.

Kohli breaks the shackles as he comes down the track and hits Santner through the off-side for a four. He makes room and lofts the next shot over the off-side for another boundary.

He then tries the reverse sweep but misses and is hit on the pads. The Indians steal the leg bye before the New Zealand players decide to take the DRS. However, the ball tracker shows the ball would have gone down the leg side and missed the stumps.

Iyer takes a single before Kohli comes down and lofts Santner down the ground for a six and picks one to get 17 from the over.

Colin Munro, who was New Zealand's hero with the bat, comes into the attack. Kohli in full flow at the moment as he lofts the first ball over the covers for two runs and then punches it to sweeper cover for one.

And Munro does the trick again with the wicket of Iyer. He has a wild swing but gets the leading edge to be caught by the bowler himself after scoring 23 from 21 balls.

Sodhi comes back and strikes with the wicket of Hardik Pandya. The right-hander is foxed by the googly which comes in and hits the stumps to bowl him for one.

India in big trouble on 71 for four at the halfway stage, needing another 126 runs from 10 overs for victory at over 12 per over.

Kohli fighting a lone battle, having played a few cracking shots to hit 38 from 25 balls.

Interesting change from New Zealand as part-timer Colin de Grandhomme comes into the attack.

He starts with a wide delivery as Iyer again hits it square on the off-side for a four and then takes one.

Virat Kohli gets off the mark with a single to thirdman before Iyer slashes the last ball over the off-side for another four to race to  14 from six balls.

Kohli gets into the act as he lofts Boult back over his head for a four and then plays the pull but mishits it on the leg side for one.

Iyer continues to find the gap on the off-side as he flays Boult past point for his fourth boundary and then takes one to thirdman.

Kohli hammers the last ball straight down the ground for another four as India counter-attack to reach 35 for two in four overs.

Adam Milne opens the bowling for New Zealand, who have a huge score to defend.

Rohit Sharma pulls the second ball over midwicket for a four to get off the mark before he flicks the fourth ball to deep square for one and Dhawan keeps strike with one from the last ball.

Trent Boult strikes in his first over with the wicket of Dhawan, who is bowled for one as India lose an early wicket. The ball came in slightly and keeps a bit low as well as Dhawan plays down the wrong line to be dismissed.

Shreyas Iyer promoted to No. 3. He gets off the mark with a four as the youngster crashes the first ball he faces through point before taking one off the next ball.

Boult getting some movement away from the right-hander as Rohit plays a loose shot and is beaten. But Boult gets the edge with the next ball to get Rohit caught behind for five.

Boult has sent both the Indian openers packing in his first over to leave the hosts reeling on 11 for two in two overs.

Colin Munro blasted a 58-ball 109 not out to power New Zealand to a huge 196 for two in their 20 overs in the second T20.

Munro and Martin Guptill had laid the foundation with a quickfire stand of 105 runs for the opening wicket after New Zealand had elected to bat.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah bowled well as they conceded 29 runs and 23 runs respectively in their four overs but the other bowlers went for plenty of runs.

Debutant Mohammed Siraj suffered in his first international game, as he went for 53 runs but picked up the wicket of Kane Williamson for 12.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal picked one for 36 in his four overs but Axar Patel gave away 39 in his three overs.

It was an off-day for India in the field as they dropped a couple of catches while missing an easy run out chance.

Bumrah to bowl the final over as India aim to keep New Zealand under 200.

Bruce gets two runs from the first ball as Chahal hits the stumps and concedes an unnecessary extra run before he picks one.

Munro then shuffles across and flicks Bumrah fine on the leg side for a four before taking one.

Bruce has a wild swing but is beaten before he inside edges the last ball for just a single as New Zealand finish on 196 for two in 20 overs.

India's fielding has been very poor today. Bhuvneshwar foxes Munro who is deceived by the slower ball and ends up chipping it on the off-side but Chahal puts down a simple catch in the covers.

Munro tries the reverse sweep but Bhuvneshwar again foxes him with the slower ball.

The left-hander then throws his bat at a wide ball but gets an outside edge which goes past short thirdman for a four as the runs continue to flow.

Munro continues to attack Siraj. This time he hammers the first ball of his final over down the ground for a six to take his score to 90.

Tom Bruce then shuffles across and scoops the pacer over wicketkeeper Dhoni for a four to get 16 from the over.

A forgettable debut for the debutant pacer as Siraj takes one for 53 in his four overs in his first international game.

Bumrah comes back as India look to end well and keep NZ under the 200-run mark.

He starts off well as he gives away just two singles from the first four balls before Munro flicks the fifth ball to square leg for two runs and keeps strike with one from the last ball.

Munro races to his century from just 54 balls in the next over with two runs through the covers off Bhuvneshwar.

The big positive for India has been that New Zealand have not managed to hit any boundary in the last two overs, while getting only 13 runs from it.
20:06   Williamson departs early but NZ set for big score

Munro continues to swing his bat. This time he smokes Axar over midwicket for a six and Williamson pulls the last ball over the leg side for another four to get 14 runs from the over.

A desperate India bring back Hardik Pandya into the attack.  No stopping Munro's attack as he despatches a full toss down the ground for a four past the long-off fielder.

Two balls later, he drives a full delivery through the covers as Iyer runs around from long-off for a couple.

Munro pulls the last ball over the midwicket fence for sixth six as the carnage continues. The left-hander has smashed 73 from 36 balls at a strike rate of over 200, with six sixes and four fours.

Siraj comes back and this time Williamson goes after him. The first ball is a wide half-volley which the Kiwi captain lofts it over extra cover for a four.

He flicks the next ball but is caught on the midwicket fence to perish for 12 as New Zealand lose their second wicket.

A confident Siraj bowls a quick yorker which Munro somehow manages to glide it fine on the leg side for a four.

New Zealand are on course for a 200-plus total as they reach 147 for two in 15 overs, with Munro smashing 79 from 39 balls.

Chahal continues as India's bowlers look completely clueless against the New Zealand onslaught.

Chahal makes the breakthrough with the wicket of Guptill, who goes for the big hit down the ground but holes out to Hardik Pandya at long-off.

Guptill walks back after scoring 45 from 41 balls, after putting on 105 runs for the opening wicket with Munro from 67 balls.

Kane Williamson goes for the sweep but is beaten as the ball strikes the pads. The umpire turns down the appeal for a catch by Dhoni but the Indians take the DRS.

The replay shows that the ball missed the gloves and the umpire's decision stays.

Munro gets a lifeline as Williamson taps it on the off-side and sets off for a quick single but Rohit's wild throw saves the batsman.

Axar looks to fire it on the stumps but this time he bowls it wide down the leg side to Munro, as it beats Dhoni for five wides.

Nothing in it for the spinners as Munro continues New Zealand's attacking approach.

He lofts Axar over long-on for another big six and repeats the shot off the next ball. This time he fails to hit it cleanly as Shreyas Iyer comes under it at long-on but only ends up tipping it over the ropes for another six.

The two sixes help Munro to race to his fifty from just 26 balls as the Kiwi openers continue to dominate, taking their team past the 100-run mark in the 11th over.

Despite being carted for 17 runs in his first over, Kohli decides to continue with Chahal.

The leg-spinner makes a good comeback as he concedes just four runs in his second over.

The Kiwi openers cut out the risk against Chahal with the field well spread out.

Siraj also comes back for his second spell after going for runs in his first over but he continues to suffer.

The first ball is slower and beats Munro, who is struck on the pads but the leg before wicket appeal is turned down.

Two singles from the first three balls before Munro clubs a slower ball over the long-on fence for a six.

The left-hander swings the last ball over midwicket for the second six of the over, which goes for 16 runs. A rough time with the ball for Siraj on his debut, conceding 26 runs in his first two overs.

Axar comes into the attack in place of Chahal and he does well to bowl a tight over first up.

He does well to mix his length and pace quite well and concede just four singles in his first over.

Change of ends for Chahal as he he takes over from Siraj. Guptill continues his attack on the leg-spinner as he slog sweeps it for another huge six over midwicket.

Munro tries the same shot but Bhuvneshwar does well to keep the ball inside the ropes as his body goes over the ropes while trying to take a high catch.

New Zealand on course for a huge score as they race to 83 for no loss in 10 overs, with Munro on 37 from 22 balls and Guptill on 43 from 38 balls.

Just one over for Siraj before he makes way for Jasprit Bumrah. The first ball is pitched right up and moves away slightly as Guptill throws his bat but is beaten. The next ball is a full toss but Guptill taps it gently back to the bowler.

A superb start from Bumrah as he gives away just three singles in his opening over.

Kohli takes a gamble as he introduces leg-spinner Jasprit Bumrah in the Powerplay.

And Guptill goes after the leg-spinner immediately, hitting two sixes and a four in his first four balls.

He lofts the second ball down the ground over long-on for a six and then repeats the shot for a four.

Guptill then slog sweeps the leggie for a mighy six over midwicket followed by one to get 17 runs from Chahal's first over.

Bumrah looks to bowl another good over but Munro spoils his plans as he crashes the fifth ball past point for a four.

New Zealand are off to a cracking start as they race to 48 for no loss in six overs, with Guptill on 30 from 26 balls and Munro on 15 from 10 balls.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to open the bowling for India and facing him is Martin Guptill, who has struggled through the tour and was lucky to retain his place as the impressive Tom Latham was dropped.

Guptill defends the first two balls before he swings the pacer over the leg side for a four to get off the mark.

Bhuvi then bowls a wide as five runs come from the first over.

Debutant Siraj to bowl the second over. He starts with a short wide delivery which Colin Munro smashes through the off-side for a cracking boundary.

He chips down the track but can only hit the next ball on the bounce to deep square leg for one.

Guptill looking to be positive the start as he makes some room and punches Siraj down the ground past mid-off for another boundary. However, he can't get the full toss away as he flicks it straight to midwicket followed by a single of the last ball as Siraj goes for 10 in his first over in international cricket.

The fielder at thirdman and fine leg have come inside the circle for Guptill, who is looking to hit a few boundaries early on.

Bhuvneshwar keeps him guessing with good change of pace, as he bowls the knuckle ball and then gives away a wide trying another slower ball.

Guptill then picks one on the off-side before Munro ducks under a bouncer. He repeats the bouncer but this time Munro pulls it awkwardly behind square for a four as NZ reach 21 for no loss in three overs.

Siraj, who impressed in domestic cricket last season before he followed it up with a good showing in this year's Indian Premier League, received his India cap from head coach Ravi Shastri.

Shreyas Iyer also gets another chance to showcase his potential at the international level after not getting an opportunity to bat in the first game.

Welcome to the coverage of second T20 International between India and New Zealand in Rajkot on Saturday.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has won the toss and elected to bat against India.

India have handed young Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Siraj his international debut as he comes in place of Ashish Nehra, who retired after the first T20 match in New Delhi.

India captain Virat Kohli believes that the dew could be hamper the Kiwi bowlers in the second half of the innings.

New Zealand have also made two changes with Glenn Phillips and Adam Milne replacing Tom Latham and Tim Southee.

India lead the three-match series 1-0 after their 53-run in the opening game.
