This passage of play has been much of a see-saw as neither team has driven any sort of advantage.

With Sri Lanka trailing by 80-odd runs, one could say that they have done well to come back after losing those early wickets.

India though have not capitalised on the early breakthroughs as Mathews and Thirimanne keep the scoreboard ticking, slowly but surely.

Umesh is also getting some stick here and goes for 5 runs in the over.

India have put the brakes on the scoring as Sri Lanka have managed just 11 runs off the last five overs.

Welcome to the updates from Day 3 of the 1st Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.

Overnight batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha to take the crease under overcast skies.

The pitch is starting to deteriorate a little and the spinners may just come in to play in this Test.

It will be interesting to see how the day pans out. A result in this Test depends on how much playing time is got. Here's hoping the rain gods stay away.
