SL 294-all out (83.4 ovs) vs India 172 | Scorecard

No. 9 batsman Rangana Herath top scored with 67, while Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne hit fifties each to help Sri Lanka post 294 in their first innings and grab a handy lead of 294 runs.

Herath, who came into the middle after Sri Lanka lost a few early wickets in the morning, played positively to build their lead.

He added 43 runs for the eighth wicket with Dilruwan Perera and then put on 46 with Suranga Lakmal.

He was bowled by Mohammed Shami, who picked up four for 100, while Bhuvneshwar claimed four for 88. Umesh Yadav picked up the other two wickets as India's spin twins, Ashwin and Jadeja, who didn't bowl much, went wicketless.

India, who were bowled out for 172 in their first innings, will need a much better effort in their second innings to keep themselves afloat.
