Star TV wins the Indian Premier League media rights including broadcast and digital rights for Rs 16,347.50 crore for a five-year period from 2018 to 2022.

Sony was the previous broadcaster for the first ten seasons of IPL after a successful bid of Rs. 8200 crore in 2008.

Facebook, Airtel, Reliance Jio, Times Internet, Star TV, Sony are the companies whose bids for the IPL digital rights were found eligible.

For the rest of the world broadcast rights the eligible bids are: Star TV, Sony,  SuperSport, OSN, Econet, Yupp TV, FollowOn Interactive.

Perform Group has been asked to get the article of association which they should procure shortly.

biEN TV didn't have financial statements because the rules of the Government of Qatar doesn't allow them to provide financial statements, so BCCI is waiting for the confirmation on the same.

BAMTECH's bid was not accepted following the technical scrutiny.

Sony Pictures Network and Star TV are the only two companies whose bids have been found eligible as far as the broadcast rights for India for the next five seasons of the IPL are concerned.

Sony broadcast the first ten seasons of IPL after a successful bid of Rs. 8200 crore in 2008.

Star TV has the broadcast rights for all the international matches played in India and also the ICC events including all the World Cups.

The BCCI's legal experts evaluated the bids among the 14 bidders after which the bids from Star and Sony were found eligible.

The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators members Diana Edulji along BCCI acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, acting treasurer Anirudh Choudhary, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri along with the BCCI's legal experts are evaluating the 14 bids received.

As stated earlier, 14 bids have been received for the IPL media rights, including broadcast and digital.

The companies who have bid include Star India, Facebook, Reliance Jio and Sony Pictures among others.

The IPL global broadcast and digital rights are for a period of five years from 2018 to 2022.

In 2008, Sony Pictures Network won the IPL media rights for a period of 10 years with a bid of Rs 8200 crore.

The previous global digital rights of IPL for a period of three years was awarded to Novi Digital in 2015 for 302.2 crore.The previous global digital rights of IPL for a period of three years was awarded to Novi Digital in 2015 for 302.2 crore.

The rights have been segregated in two categories -- broadcast and digital (internet and mobile) rights.

The rights on offer are Indian sub-continental television rights, which is the most coveted along with emerging Indian sub-continent digital rights.

There is also rest of the world media rights on offer which includes key international markets like the Middle East, Africa, Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Many are expecting BCCI to earn a whopping Rs 20,000 crore from the rights.

The broadcast rights could see a two-way battle between Star India and Sony Pictures, while the digital rights market for Indian sub-continent could see Reliance Jio Digital Services and Airtel battle it out for the rights.

10:26   14 bids received for IPL global, digital rights
14 companies including Star India, Facebook, Reliance Jio and Sony Pictures have submitted their bids for the Indian Premier League global broadcast and digital rights in Mumbai on Monday.

Facebook, AIRTEL,  Star India,  Bamtech, Sony, BeIN Sports, Super Sport,  Follow On,  Yupp TV,  Times internet,  OSM,  Econet,  perform and Reliance Jio are the companies which submitted their bids to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. 

The IPL global broadcast and digital rights are for a period of five years from 2018 to 2022.

Originally, 24 companies had taken the ITT (Invitation to Tender) but only 14 among them submitted their bids.

BCCI's legal team Deloitte, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Sportmechanics are helping the Board to evaluate the technicals bids, the process is which running currently.
