India captain Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the series opener.

Ajinkya Rahane will open the innings in place of Shikhar Dhawan, who will miss the first three ODIs due to personal reasons.

Manish Pandey retains his place in the team, at No. 4, after a couple of impressive knocks in Sri Lanka.

Surprisingly, Ravindra Jadeja, who was called up to the squad after an injury to Axar Patel, is not picked as Kohli prefers to play two wrist spinners in Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav also fail to make it to the playing eleven as India decide to continue with Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar following their impressive showing in Sri Lanka.
