Jennings, Root keep India at bay

Umesh to start off proceedings with the ball for India. Jennings offers no shot to the first ball which is wide before he defends the next two.

He then bowls it well wide outside the off-stump as Karthik dives but is unable to stop it and ends up giving away four byes before the left-hander sees off the last two balls.

Ishant from the other end. The first ball cuts in sharply as Root blocks it watchfully before turning the next ball on the leg side for one.

Two balls later, Jennings taps it on the off-side for another easy single before Root goes after a wide delivery but is beaten as England reach 89 for one in 30 overs.

Umesh from round the wicket gets the ball to jag in as Jennings leaves it alone and watches it sail close to the stumps. The next ball again swings in as Jennings is hit on the pads but the inside edge saves him from the leg before appeal.

Two singles off the Umesh over as England continue to build steadily to reach 91 for one in 31 overs.
