India 189-3 (56 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

Kohli still being very watchful against some testing bowling from Anderson as he is content to play out a maiden over from the veteran pacer.

India have been very positive, with their strokeplay and also with their defending, with some confident footwork.

Woakes drops short as Rahane rocks back and punches it through the off-side for a four to complete his half-century, from 76 balls.

It will be a big relief for the India vice-captain, who was under the hammer after a run of poor scores, but he has answered his critics in fine style.

He again punches the next ball but can't beat the fielder at point but again the timing is very good.

Stokes comes back into the attack. Kohli looks to take on a short ball from the fast bowler but is beaten. Two balls later, he is beaten outside the off-stump as he plays a loose shot.

Stokes attempts a bouncer but it sails high over the batsman and is ruled a wide as the Indian duo raise the 100-run stand, for the fourth wicket.

In the next over, Rahane plays five dot balls in a row from Woakes before taking a single from the last ball to keep strike.

Stokes keeps trying the short balls as Rahane plays the pull shot but can't beat the fielder at square leg. He tries another bouncer but Rahane offers no shot and does the same with the next one.

Another short ball as Rahane tries to avoid it but is hit on the body before he takes a single from the next ball on the off-side.

Not much time left for tea, maybe another over left in the session as Woakes continues.

A single to Rahane off the fourth ball to fine leg before the next ball is way down the leg side and gives India four leg byes.
