What a wonderful day it has been for India.

India finish the Day on 124 for 2 with Kohli on 8 and Pujara on 33 as India take a 292-run lead at stumps on Day 2.

It was a day that totally belonged to India after Hardik Pandya got his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket to have England bowled out for 161.

Later openers Dhawan and Rahul scored quickly to add to India's lead.

Stokes bowling the last over of the day continues and is bowling superbly to Kohli here and the Indian captain acknowledges it.

Kohli lets the last ball go as India go back to the pavillion on top against the hosts.

Anderson continues and bowls a lovely over to Pujara, ends the over with a beauty just missing the bat by a whisker!

Stokes continues and he asks all sorts of questions off Kohli as just two runs come in the over.

The sun is out now at Trent Bridge and as Anderson continues to bowl the batsmen are happy to take the singles and twos.

Kohli starts the over with a single to the square leg. Just that one run comes off the over.

Stokes continues and he maintains the leg stump line, he bowls couple of bouncers and gives two runs in the over.

Anderson replaces Rashid and he gives just 2 runs in the over.

Stokes brought back into the attack. He bowls a leg stump line and the batsmen take four runs in the over.

Rashid gives England the much-needed breakthrough as Dhawan walks back for 44, foxed by the googly.

Kohli is the new man in and he gets off the mark with a single to square leg.

Pujara then plays the ball to the leg side to end the over with a single.

A wicket and four runs come off the over.

Root persists with Rashid and it pays off.

After getting 2 runs off first ball of the over, Dhawan is done in by the wrong one. Slightly flighted, spins away, Dhawan tries to go after it, misses it completely and is stumped by Bairstow.

Woakes given to bowl his 8th over and some sloppy fielding by Rashid

and Dhawan gets a four.

Rashid continues and he gives just one in the over.

England are somehow unable to plug the flow of runs especially those coming off the bowling of Adil Rashid.

The batsmen are growing in confidence in every over.

Rashid continues and India bring up the 100 off the 2nd ball of the over.

Four runs come off the over.

Woakes continues, the ball nips across Dhawan, he gets an edge and Cook drops the catch at slips.

Dhawan gets a life and then gets a single off the next ball. Just one run comes off the over.

Woakes continues and Dhawan starts with a single to fine leg.

Just that one comes off the over as India's lead goes up to 260.

Looking for wicket, Root brings on Adil Rashid.

But the spinner is taken to the cleaners in his first over as nine runs come off the over.

India continue confidently as Pujara and Dhawan keep the scoreboard ticking.

They pick 15 runs off three overs as Pujara plays two immaculate shots to the boundary.

Pujara is the new man in and gets off the mark with a four down to fine leg. Straightish ball and Pujara just helps it through.

Next up is a good length ball and Pujara edges it to third man for a couple.

Stokes continues and Dhawan takes a single.

Rahul gets done in by the inswinger, and he bowled through the gates.

India lose the first wicket and Rahul is gone for 36.

Woakes continues and the batsmen are just happy to get the singles.Ball is coming back in and Rahul playing on the backfoot is living dangerously.

Stokes now replaces Broad at the other end and Rahul gets a single.

Dhawan then gets a single off the fifth ball of the over.

Rahul then gets a ball angled in, he probes forward gets the inside edge and the ball just flies past a diving Bairstow behind the wickets for a four.

Woakes comes into the attack and Dhawan gets a four off the second ball of the over. It's a lovely wristy shot a treat to watch!

That brings up India's 50.

Broad continues and the batsmen continue to get the runs.

They pick up nine runs off him as Dhawan and Rahul take a boundary each.

Rahul then plays two lovely back-to-back boundaries off Anderson.

Broad continues and gives only one run in the over.

India have started their second innings well, scoring at just over 4 runs an over.

Anderson has asked questions of Dhawan in that fifth over.

Having taken a huge lead, India openers Dhawan and Rahul have started confidently.

The ball is nipping around but still Broad and Anderson have been creamed by the batsmen in the opening four overs.

Bumrah continues and he takes out Buttler and England have been bowled out for 161 here.

India have a massive 168-run lead after Pandya's five-wicket haul kept England on the leash.

Pandya bowled a great spell to have England in a soup and eventually be dismissed for 161.

10 wickets have been had in the session as tea is taken.

Ishant continues and Buttler swings his arms and the ball goes over long-off for a six!

He then takes a single off the fifth ball of the over to give Anderson the last ball to fend and he survives again.

Bumrah comes back into the attack as tea has been pushed back.

Buttler takes a single off the fifth ball of the over giving Anderson the last ball to survive and survive he does.

Ishant replaces Shami and Buttler gets a couple to deep point off the third ball of the over.

Ishant gives three runs in the over.

Pandya continues and some good, smart running sees England get four runs in the over.

With Buttler still at the one end, England have some hope of getting a little closer to India's total.

England have managed to avoid the follow on!

Buttler takes a couple and he then plays the ball straight over the bowler's head for a four.

He then smashes a six over square leg.

He ends the over with a four over mid-on. That is a productive over after very long.

Pandya continues and he gets Rashid out through a beautiful outswinger. Pant takes another catch to have England reeling.

Broad is the new man in and he is out for a duck! Pandya gets his maiden Test five-wicket haul.

Anderson is the new man in and that is a double-wicket maiden over.

Rashid is the new man in and Shami continues.

Buttler and Rashid get a four each and 10 runs come off the over.

Pandya continues and Bairstow is caught by Rahul at the slips.

Woakes is the new man in and is beaten!

Next ball he gets off the mark with a four.

He follows that off with another four through the covers.

Pandya then bowls a bouncer, Woakes follows the ball, gets a nick and Pant completes a great catch. Woakes takes the review but ultra edge shows he got a nick and he has to walk back.

England in a load of trouble after losing Stokes. for 10.

The hosts have lost half the side and now they trail by 219 runs.

Buttler is the new man in and he is nearly gone, he gets the edge but the ball falls just short of Kohli at slips.

A fuller inswinging ball next and Buttler plays it to square leg for a couple.

Shami continues and he gets his first wicket. He gets the big one of Stokes.

Ball moves away after pitching, Stokes plays at it, gets the edge and Rahul completes a catch at second slip.

Stokes gone for 10.

Pandya continues and Bairstow picks two boundaries in the over.

Pandya continues and starts with a massive wide.

Bairstow gets a single to point.

The next ball raps the batsman on the pads, umpire says not out, India take the review. DRS shows not out.

Shami continues and Stokes plays a lovely shot through mid-wicket for a four.

England find themselves sinking into a hole here. They have lost Root and have failed to up the ante after the good start given before lunch.

India have done well to pull back with four wickets.

Stokes is the new man in and gets off the mark with a couple to mid-off.

Stokes then gets a gift ball and plays it past cover point for a four.

Hardik Pandya comes into the attack and he gets his man!

Fuller ball around the off stump, Root nicks and Rahul claims a catch.

Umpire's soft signal was out but third umpire taking his time to give the decision.

And he starts with a maiden.

He then bowls his second no ball of the day.

Bairstow then gets a single to cover.

Root then gets a couple to backward square leg to end the over.

Ishant continues and Bairstow gets a gift ball, he flicks it off his pads and gets a boundary to the leg side.

Bumrah continues and Root gets a life as the ball falls short of Kohli at 3rd slip.

England have endured a tough start to the second session of play on Day 2.

The introduction of Ishant after lunch has put India in a good space. He has picked two wickets now in his 6-over spell.

It is now down to Root and Bairstow to do damage control and get the England innings back on track.

Bairstow comes in for Pope and is welcomed with a bouncer.

Ishant bowls the same ball he bowled to take out Pope, the ball going down leg. Bairstow leaves it alone.

Ishant continues and Pope is gone here! He tries to play the ball to the leg side but is caught by a diving Pant. England lose their third wicket and Pope is out for 10.

Bumrah continues and Root plays at it, the edge flies past a wrong-footed Pant and down to third man for a four.

Bumrah then makes Root play at it and it misses everything!

Ishant continues and England get on the scorecard after 2 maiden overs. Root gets a boundary to fine leg.

He then punches the ball through covers for a three, Pandya chases and keeps it down to three.

Pope then watchfully plays out the next three balls as seven runs come off the over.

Bumrah continues, the ball is nipping back in a bit. Another maiden and England are a bit tied down here after those two blows.

Ishant continues and he is troubling Root as the ball is moving in a lot.

He raps Root on the pads, appeals but the umpire is not interested. The replays show that the ball would have gone down the leg side.

That is a maiden over.

Bumrah continues and gives just two runs in the over.

Pope looks the more confident of the two new batsmen at the crease having played two beautiful drives.

Root is happy to defend as England look to rebuild after losing two quick wickets after lunch.

Ishant contiinues and Pope plays a lovely straight drive down to long off chased down by Rahane, Pope gets three runs.

Fast and full and Root plays it back to Ishant as he nearly falls over.

Just three runs come off the over.

England now have two new batsmen in in Root and Pope after those two back-to-back strikes after lunch.

Pope gets off the mark with a superb shot through covers for a boundary.

Pope then drives but gets the inside edge, the ball narrowly missing the stumps. He gets a single down to fine leg.

Bumrah continues and strikes off his first ball. Jennigs hangs his bat out and fishes for the ball that is going wide. Pant takes a catch to his left and India get their 2nd wicket.

In the second session, India must look to get that breakthrough.

Ishant continues and Cook gets a four down to third man.

India's slip fielding continues to disappoint as Pujara drops Cook at first slip.

Cook drawn into the shot and Ishant gets the first wicket. Good length ball, Cook made to play, gets a slight nick and Pant takes his maiden Test catch. Cook gone for 29 and England lose their first wicket.

Bumrah comes in from the other end and that is a maiden.

Ishant starts proceedings after lunch, he starts around the wicket to Cook.

After three dots, Cook plays a cover drive for a boundary. Four runs off the over.

17:41 Cook, Jennings batting steadily

That first session clearly belonged to England. First the bowlers bowled out India inside 45 minutes of play and then the openers giving the team a decent start.

Openers Cook and Jennings have done well to give England good start before lunch.

Batting at just over five runs an over it has been a good display of free-flowing batting, especially in the last three overs.

What helped their cause was India bowlers not using the conditions to their advantage.

Bumrah replaces Shami at the other end and he beats Cook.

Bumrah then bowls on the leg side, nicely taken by Pant.

Bumrah then bowls it into Cook who gets a couple to deep backward square.

He then overpitches and Cook whips the ball off his pads past mid-wicket for 3. Shami does a good job to pull the ball inside the boundary line.

Dot ball to end the over and that is lunch!

India make the first bowling change as Ashwin comes in to bowl and gives just three runs in his opening over.

Shami continues, this time he comes over the wicket.

Jennings just rocks back and gets a couple to covers.

Jennings then gets a four through gully.

Last ball of the over Jennings gets a couple through point.

Bumrah continues and Cook punishes an overpitched ball for a four through mid-off.

He then bowls the first no-ball of the match.

England have gotten off to a decent start here scoring at 5 runs an over.

Shami continues, the 2nd ball of the over, short and wide and Cook crunches it through the off side for a four.

Cook then gets a single to the leg side.

Jennings then gets a four through the covers.

Bumrah continues and he has Cook in all sorts of trouble.

Cook then plays the ball down to mid-on and steals a single.

Bumrah raps Jennigs on the pads, big shout, umpire not interested. India decide against taking the DRS.

Bumrah comes from the other end and Jennings gets lucky as his edge flies past Rahane to the third man boundary.

Bumrah comes around the wicket to Cook and gives the batsman no room as the ball comes into the left-hander.

Cook and Jennings come in to bat for England.

Shami starts proceedings and what a start!

Cook is a bit squared up, gets the edge but the ball runs past Kohli at 3rd slip for a boundary.

Shami now bowling a leg side line and two balls later, Cook gets a single to square leg.

Jennings now on strike and gets off the mark with a single - a false start though as he gets some inswing.

Last ball, the ball flies past a flying Pant for four byes. Another ball on the leg side that one.

16:52 Broad and Anderson clean up tail

India have been dismissed for 329 just after 45 minutes of play in the morning session.

Broad and Anderson cleaned up the Indian tail after India were overnight on 307 for 6 thanks to Kohli's 97 and Rahane's 81.

Bumrah is the last man in and is bowled!

Anderson bowls the perfect delivery, pitched on middle and leg, it clips the bails of the middle stump as Bumrah goes for a duck, bringing down the curtains on India's first innings.

Anderson continues and Shami swings and misses.

Anderson maintains the line.

Shami then tries to go after the bowling, he swings his arms but there is no timing and is caught by the man at mid on.

Shami is the new man in and he starts with a superb cover drive. He opens his account with three runs.

Sharma is the totally squared up off the last ball of the over.

Broad continues and he bowls three good balls before striking for the 2nd time in the day.

He then bowls a lovely inswinger to get rid of Ashwin. The ball swings in and Ashwin's middle-stump goes cartwheeling.

India lose their 8th wicket.

Anderson continues and he nearly had Ashwin but the batsman got a reprieve, dropped by Pope at fourth slip.

Broad gets the early breakthrough in Pant.

With Ashwin still at the crease, India will hope he bats with the tail to increase India's total to a substantial one.

Ishant comes in at the fall of Pant and survives two deliveries.

Broad continues and he comes around the wicket to Pant. Again that line is maintained around the off stump but Pant is happy to leave the ball.

Broad has his man! Pant gets an inside and chops it on to his stumps. Pant is gone for 24 off 51 and he given a send-off by the bowler as he walks back.

India lose their 7th wicket.

Anderson continues and he is bowling in that channels and gets good lateral movement.

Ashwin then does well to just guide the ball to third man for a four.

Last ball of the over, a good ball but Ashwin is lucky as the ball runs past third slip to the boundary.

Broad continues and 2 runs come off the over off leg byes.

Anderson comes in to ball from the other end, bowling his 23rd over.

Pant nearly plays it on but escapes. One run comes off the over.

Pant takes a single off the third ball and Ashwin gets off the mark off a streaky boundary past Buttler at slips off the last ball of the over.

Play on Day 2 of the 3rd Test at Trent Bridge delayed by 30 minutes due to a wet outfield.

The covers have come off and the match is set to resume in some time.

India will look to cash in on the Rishabh Pant's batting on Day 1.
