India 119-1 (20.3 ovs) vs SA 118 (32.2 ovs) | Scorecard


India win the second ODI by 9 wickets and lead the series 2-0.

Dhawan made a half-century after Chahal got a five-for to dismiss South Africa for a paltry 118 well inside 50 overs.

India got to the target in 20.3 overs with Rohit Sharma the only Indian wicket to fall.

With 2 runs for win and 6 runs to complete his half-century, Kohli comes on strike as Tahir continues.

Kohli slaps it to on side for a dot. 

Kohli plays the ball to the leg side, a misfield allows India to get the two runs and an easy win for India.

Shamsi continues and Dhawan tries to pull him but does not connect.

He then plays a dot ball.

Kohli at the other end needs 6 runs for a half-ton.

So far all four have been dot balls. Dhawan attempts and expansive pull, again fails to connect. 

That is a maiden.

The players are back on the field after lunch, with India needing 2 runs to win.

Laughable to say the least and that is what the cameras caught as Tahir and Kohli had their arms around each other and walked off the field giggling like teenagers. 

Farcical decision indeed!

Tahir continues. 

Dhawan gets a single and completes another half-century.

Kohli takes a single to square leg and then Dhawan gets a single.

Kohli then gets a couple to extra-cover. 

Kohli gets another couple of runs and umpires call it lunch!

India now need 18 runs to win and lunch break has postponed as the game has been extended to another 30 minutes.

Morkel continues and Dhawan latches on the ball and slogs it over mid-wicket for a boundary.

Dhawan gets a life after he has been dropped by Miller at point.

A single to backward point brings Kohli to strike. 

Kohli comes down the pitch and hammers it through cover-point for a boundary.

Tahir continues and the scorecard keeps ticking.

India get the 100 after Kohli takes a couple of runs to point.

Just three coming off it. Better over from Tahir.

Morkel brought back into the attack and the batsmen are now toying with the bowling here. 

Kohli and Dhawan nicely rotating the strike to inch closer to the finish line.

Kohli and Dhawan want to finish the job fast here and they hammer Tahir and Shamsi for big runs.

The spinners are bowling in tandem and the Indians have taken 29 runs off the last 4 overs.

Left-arm spinner Tabrez Shamsi comes into the attack.

Kohli takes a run and brings Dhawan to the crease.

He just cuts the ball past point, bad fielding and that is four runs.

Another short ball and Dhawan pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a four.

India getting closer to victory here as the runs come thick and fast.

Kohli and Dhawan batting beautifully.

Morris continues and Dhawan pulls the ball to fine leg for a single.

Fifty comes up for India with Kohli playing a straight drive for 2 runs. Nice work done by fielder at long-off.

Kohli cuts and the ball bounces down to the boundary square on the off-side. 

Rabada continues. 

He bangs the ball in, Kohli tries to go after that but can't connect. and Rabada gives him some words.

Next ball and Kohli gets a bottom edge right into his ribs.

Another shot ball and this time Kohli connects and pulls it over fine leg for a six!

Morris continues and he is bowling well here. He is attacking Dhawan on the middle and leg stump, not allowing him any freedom to go after the ball.

Nice bowling here. 

Last ball of the over and Dhawan cuts it past slips down to third man for a boundary.

Rabada continues, little width and Dhawan times the ball through covers for a four.

Seven runs come off the over. 

Dhawan then takes a single down to square leg. 

Morris comes in to the attack as new man Kohli takes strike.

Kohli gets off the mark with a quick single. He plays it to mid-off and hares down the pitch for a single.

Dhawan then pulls the ball down to fine-leg for a single.

Kohli then cuts the ball through to point for a couple.

Five runs including the wide come in the over.

Rabada does well to take out Rohit.

Kohli comes in to bat.

Rabada continues and Rohit just the ball off his pads to time the ball to perfection for a four down to square leg.

Rohit then plays a ramp shot to just plays the ball over the slips down to third man for a boundary.

Rabada strikes! Rohit not in control of that pull shot and Morkel completes a good running catch to send the batsman back to the pavillion for 15. 

Morne Morkel continues and Dhawan plays the ball through covers for a boundary.

Another one as Dhawan plays square of the wicket for another boundary.

Just a wide given in that over Rabada starts well and Rohit survives.

Rabada opens the bowling at the other end.

He bowls a wide down the leg side for a free run to India.

Well bowled and did Sharma edge that?

Rabada is excited. The umpire raises the finger. Rohit asks for the review. 

The video review shows no edge and the on-field is made to change his decision.

Morne Morkel opens the bowling as Rohit and Dhawan take strike.

And it's just the 3rd ball and Rohit launches into the bowler. Short ball and Rohit pulls it to the leg side for a six.

Chahal has finished off the Proteas with a five-wicket haul, a career-best 5 for 22. 

India need a measly 119 for victory. 

The South African batsmen showed no application at all and perished once again to India's leg-spin duo of Chahal and Kuldeep.

Tabraiz Shamsi is the last South African batsman in and he does well to start defensively. Pushes it down to mid-off. 

Chahal continues and Morris tries to slog the bowler to no effect and he is holed out at the deep on the off-side and Chahal finishes with figures of 5 for 22 of 8.2 overs.

Bumrah brought back into the attack to finish the job.

A short delivery and Morris goes after it. 

Luckily the ball falls short of the man at deep point.

The batsmen take a single and Tahir comes on to the strike.

Tahir is tested here. 

Straight ball on the off stump and Tahir misses the ball. He is bowled all ends up. He is out for a duck. 
15:38   Chahal gets another breakthrough

Chahal continues and Morkel doesn't read the ball and is hit full on his back pad. 

Morkel gone for 1 and South Africa are now staring down the barrel.

Imran Tahir is in at No 9 and he plays out the remaining four balls watchfully. 

That is a wicket-maiden.



Morkel comes to the crease and is dropped by Jadhav and the batsman survives the run-out chance at the non-strikers' end.

Morris decides to go the aerial route and hammers Kuldeep straight over long on for a six! 

Kuldeep bowls the wrong'un. Rabada fails to read it and Rabada is beaten as the ball crashes into his pads. 

Kuldeep gets his 3rd wicket as Rabada goes for 1.

Kuldeep continues and Morris tries to go after him. Lucky the ball falls short of the fielder.

Chahal strikes again and sends danger man Duminy back to the pavillion. 

Rabada comes to the crease and gets off the mark with a single.

Chahal continue, he bowls the straight line, Duminy misses it, the ball hits straight on hits his pad right in front of the stumps. Chahal appeals and the umpire raises the finger. SA have no review so they can't appeal but had they taken it there would be no change to that decision. 

Kuldeep continues and only 3 come off the over.

Morris comes in to bat and starts with a boundary. Lovely cover drive to kick-start his innings.

Duminy takes a single to bring up the 100. 

Just when Zondo and Duminy were putting up a good partnership , Zondo has played a rash shot and is holed out by Hardik Pandya, who nearly drops the catch. 

Chahal tosses the ball up and Zondo goes after it. Doesn't get enough on it and the ball just flies to the on side and Pandya juggles it to complete the catch.

Duminy and Zondo keep the scorecard ticking. 

Jadhav continues and the batsmen are rotating the strike well here.

Again 3 runs come off the over. 

Chahal comes back into the attack.

The batsmen are doing well to rotate the strike and not allow him to settle.

3 runs come off the over.


Jadhav continues and the batsmen are happy to play him watchfully.

Pandya continues and he starts with a bouncer to Duminy.

Duminy then plays the ball down to deep backward point for a single.

Zondo just runs the ball past slips to the third man boundary. Nice shot.

Zondo then follows that up with a single to cover.

Duminy cuts again and gets another single to backward point.

Zondo pushes for another single and 8 runs come off the over.

Kedar Jadhav comes into the attack.

Zondo starts with a run to mid-wicket.

Duminy slaps the ball through covers, good fielding and he gets one run.

Four singles come off the over.

Pandya continues. This is a better line to Zondo.

Zondo tries to sweep the full delivery, gets nothing for it.

He then plays the ball to long off for a single. Just one comes off it.

Pandya comes back into the attack and Duminy plays him straight down the ground for a boundary. Nice face of the bat shown and a lovely shot that. 

Duminy cuts, the ball flies in the air and the ball goes through point down to third man for a boundary.

Kuldeep continues. The ball is turning and the Duminy tries to cut and misses. 

Off the fifth ball, Duminy gets to the pitch of the ball and drives it to the off-side for a single.

Zondo defends the last ball of the over.

Drinks called as India quickly taking a grip on the proceedings. 

Chahal continues. 

Duminy gets off the mark with a paddle sweep. A single down to fine leg. 

Zondo challenged by fuller balls.

The Zondo fails to read the ball, he gets a leading edge but the ball is wide off Rahane at slip and the ball runs down to the third man boundary.

Kuldeep continues.

Full toss and Zondo slaps it over deep mid-wicket for a boundary.

Zondo then places the ball to fine leg for a single.

Duminy comes on strike and some turn and bounce for Kuldeep. 

Duminy yet to get off the mark.

Chahal continues and debutant Zondo playing watchfully.

South Africa once again losing the plot here. 

Kuldeep then sends Miller back to the pavillion. He sets an attacking field. He makes Miller play and the batsmen is foxed, handing a simple catch to Rahane at slips.

Kuldeep has taken 2 wickets. 

Kuldeep comes into the attack.

Markram pulls the short ball and it goes into the hands of Bhuvi in the deep. 

They have now lost two wickets off back-to-back deliveries.

Chahal continues and Markram takes a single to the leg side. 

De Kock then takes a single to long on to bring up the team 50.

Markram then takes a single and brings De Kock on strike.

De Kock goes after the bowler, plays the pulls but gets the bottom of the bat and straight into the hands of deep square leg. 

De Kock gone for 20 and his poor run of form continues. 

Pandya comes back into the attack and De Kock takes a single.

Pandya strays and Markram just helps the ball on its way to the fine leg boundary.

Chahal comes in to the attack.

Captain Aiden Markram comes in to bat.

South Africa lose their first wicket for 39.

Just when Amla had found his feet, he has been dismissed for 23.

This is not looking good for the home team who have been unable to build partnerships even in the last ODI.


Bhuvi comes back into the attack to bowl the final over of the PowerPlay.

He starts off well. Gets a bouncer of the 2nd ball. 

What a shot! Amla then just plays the most majestic, well-timed cover drive to the boundary.

Did Amla get the inside edge?

The ball goes straight to Dhoni who celebrates.Umpire Dar raises the finger. Amla asks for a review. Replays show the ball had taken a faint nick on the way to the keeper.

SA lose a review as the decision of the on-field umpire stays and Amla is gone for 23.

Pandya replaces Bhuvi and Amla takes a quick run off the first ball.

De Kock then comes down the track and gets a boundary through the off side.

He gets another boundary as he cuts the ball over gully to the fence.

He gets a life as he attempts to go after the bowling. Lucky the ball falls short of the fielder at short third man.

He leaves the ball peacefully.

Bumrah continues. 

De Kock is having a bit of trouble reading the bowler.

He then just whips it through to fine leg for a single.

Short ball and Amla pulls it away, he gets the bottom of the bat and gets only 2 runs.

Amla then plays the ball off his pads for a run down to square leg.

The batsmen getting into the groove here, Amla in particular as he takes 8 runs off the Bhuvneshwar over. 

Bhuvi continues.

Slightly wide and Amla slashes hard at the ball, it goes flying over second slip for boundary down to third man.  

Three balls later, slightly full, Amla just times it to perfection, through covers for a four. Delicious shot that!

Bumrah continues and four runs come off the over as the batsmen take singles.

India have started well here, giving away just 10 runs off the first five overs.

The bowling has been tight and so has the fielding, giving nothing away to the SA openers.

What fortune for De Kock!

Bumrah bowls. De Kock hits it hard, gets the inside edge, the ball spins back to the stumps, lucky it didn't take the bails off. 

De Kock gets two snorters up front. Extra bounce for the bowler. Next ball he defends well.  He then leaves the next one that swings after pitching. 

The next ball goes through to the keeper after De Kock is made to play.

Bhuvneshwar opens as Amla takes strike. 

The ball carries through to the keeper as Amla leaves it alone. Amla then -plays the ball to the off side.

Amla goes on his toes and just plays it to point for a boundary. Nicely timed and a good way to get off the mark.

India captain Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bowl in the 2nd ODI at Centurion on Sunday.

The visitors have a 1-0 lead in the six-match series after winning their first-ever ODI against South Africa at Durban on Thursday by six wickets.

That defeat ended the Proteas' 17-match unbeaten run on home soil, stretching back to February 2016, when they lost to England at Port Elizabeth.

In the aftermath of the Durban defeat, South Africa lost skipper du Plessis to a finger injury. He had suffered a blow during the first ODI and scans revealed that he suffered a fracture, thus ruling him out for three to six weeks. He will miss the remainder of the ODI series as well as the entire T20I series against India.
