SA 65-2 (20 ovs) & 286 vs India 209 | Scorecard

All-rounder Hardik Pandya smashed a quickfire half-century and then claimed a couple of wickets to keep India in the hunt, on Day 2 of the first Test in Cape Town.

Pandya blasted 93 from 95 balls, laced with 14 fours and a six, to help India rally to 209 in their first innings.

South Africa, who grabbed a 77-run first innings lead, reached 65 for two in their second innings to swell their lead to 142 runs.

Pandya dismissed both the openers -- Markram (34) and Elgar (25) to keep India's hopes alive in the contest.

Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (25) brought India back from the dead with a 99-run partnership for the eighth wicket after they were reeling at 92 for seven at one stage.

South Africa still have the upperhand with a lead of 142 runs and eight wickets still in hand. If India are unable to grab a couple of early wickets on the third day, then South Africa could take complete control by stretching their lead and taking it out of the visitors' reach.
