India 45-2 (27 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Captain Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara battled hard to steady India and guide them to 45 for two in 27 overs at lunch on Day 1.

Kohli was unbeaten on 24 from 58 balls, while Pujara, who took 54 balls to get off the mark, was five not out from 66 balls.

Interestingly, India opted to bat on a seamer-friendly wicket after going in with five fast bowlers.

India lost both their openers early as KL Rahul (0) and Murali Vijay (8) were both caught behind off Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada respectively.

Kohli and Pujara weathered a tough morning session with the fast bowlers getting plenty of assistance from a lively track.

Kohli was lucky to get a lifeline with his score on 11 as Philander put down a simple catch off Rabada, while Pujara survived a close shout for LBW after South Africa decided not take the DRS, which would have gone in their favour.
