India 114-4 (53 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

Captain Virat Kohli hit a half-century before South Africa pulled back things with a couple of late wickets to reduce India to 114 for four in 53 overs at tea on Day 1.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who took 54 balls to get off the mark, was battling hard on a gritty knock of 27 not out from 145 balls, while Parthiv Patel was yet to get off the mark.

India lost two late wickets in the session, that of Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane as South Africa took the upperhand.

Kohli, who was dropped twice, was caught at third slip off Lungi Ngidi for 54.

Kohli batted well with a positive intent to rally India after the openers had perished early in the morning session.

Rahane also got a reprieve when he was caught off a no-ball but he failed to make most of the opportunity and was trapped leg before wicket for nine by Morne Morkel.

Overall, India scored 69 runs in 26 overs for the loss of two wickets in the post-lunch session.
