SA 143-6 (54 ovs) vs India 187 | Scorecard

Hashim Amla hit an unbeaten half-century to steer South Africa to 143 for six at tea on Day 2 of the third and final Test.

Amla battled hard to score 54 from 110 balls, having hit seven fours, while Philander was unbeaten on 13.

India kept chipping away at the wickets as they dismissed AB de Villiers (5), Faf du Plessis (8) and Quinton de Kock (8) quickly in the post-lunch session.

However, Amla kept the Indian bowlers at bay with his gutsy half-century as the Proteas went into the interval, trailing the visitors by 44 runs with four wickets in hand.

The key for India in the post-tea session would be the wicket of Amla, who would be looking to bat as long as possible and give South Africa some lead, which could prove vital on this lively wicket.
