Bumrah nearly strikes again in his next over as Philander gets the edge but it flies between the slips and gully for a four and he takes a single off the next ball.

Shami finally bags a wicket, and it is the crucial one, that of Philander, who falls after a handy innings of 35.

Philander goes for the pull but gets the top edge as Bumrah does well to judge it on the fine leg fence and take the catch cleanly inches from the boundary ropes.

Shami bowls another short ball but it slips down the leg side to Morne Morkel, who manages to clip it fine for a single.

Andile Phuhlukwayo gets off the mark in confident fashion, crashing a full delivery from Shami through the covers for a four to bring South Africa within seven runs of the lead.
