India 248-1 (45.1 ovs) vs Afghanistan | Scorecard

With no signs of rain stopping, the umpires have decided to take the tea break with India well placed on 248 for one in 45.1 overs.

Afghanistan will be relieved that there was some sort of halt to India's charge and they would be looking to make most of the break by looking to claim a couple of wickets after the tea break.

They struck early after the lunch interval by dismissing the dangerous Shikhar Dhawan, who stroked an entertaining 107 from 96 balls. He raced to his century in the morning session and became the first Indian batsman to hit a hundred before lunch on Day 1 of a Test match.

Vijay started slowly before he blossomed quite well in the post-lunch session to be unbeaten on 94 from 128 at the tea break. KL Rahul, who came in at No. 3, stroked a fluent 33 from 48 balls.
