England 68-1 (14 ovs) vs Afg | Scorecard

Afghanistan are happy to continue with Mujeeb, who bowls his sixth over on the trot. And he keeps things in check, giving away just two singles in his 11th over.

And no surprise that Afghanistan introduce spin from the other end too. Bairstow makes his intent clear as he slog sweeps the second ball over midwicket for a four.

Three singles off the next three balls before Root cuts a short ball behind point for another four as Nabi gives away 11 runs in his first over.

Mujeeb, who bowled a tidy spell of six for 18 runs with the new ball, is given a break as Gulbadin Naib is called into the attack.

Bairstow throws his bat at a wide delivery hitting it uppishly through the vacant gully region for a single to thirdman.

Root then gets an inside edge which narrowly misses the stumps before he defends the next two balls as just a single comes from the over.

Leg-spinner Rahmat Shah comes into the attack in place of Nabi. The first ball is a beauty as he gets a little bit of drift, getting Bairstow to come forward to defend the full delivery which turns away sharply to go past the edge.

He then taps the next ball on the off-side for a single before Root slaps a short ball to sweeper cover for one.

Bairstow then takes the aerial route as he lofts a flighted delivery from Rahmat straight down the ground for a six.
