Windies, Pakistan in Costcutter final

The West Indies entered the final of the Costcutter under-15 World Cup on Wednesday after scoring a thrilling two-wicket victory over South Africa, with a ball to spare, in the semi-final at New County ground, Brighton.

Batting first on Tuesday, South Africa piled up 191 for 5 wickets in 42.5 overs before rain halted any further play.

When the match resumed on Wednesday, South Africa went on to score 225 for 7 in their 50 overs. D Van Wyk was the top scorer with 85 runs.

However, that total proved in adequate as the West Indies, powered by a brilliant 93 from A Ragoonath, achieved the target with a ball to spare, scoring 230 for 8 wickets.

Had the match been washed out, South Africa would have made the final on account of their superior record at the group stage, where they were unbeaten.

The West Indies meet Pakistan in the final on Thursday. They got the better of England by 58 runs in the other semi-final on Monday.
