Muthiah hopes same logic is applied for Olympics

Board of Control for Cricket in India president Dr. A C Muthiah reacted strongly to the government's decision to withdraw permission to the Indian cricket team to play Pakistan in the Sahara Cup series, in Toronto, in September.

In a statement from Madras, Dr Muthiah said the BCCI will abide by the government's decision, though he hopes the government will apply the same same logic to Indian athletes and the hockey team's participation in the Olympics.

"I suppose the same logic will apply to participation in the Olympics by the Indian athletes and the Indian hockey team."

Sports Minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Thursday said India will not play in the Sahara Cup bilateral series till Pakistan stops encouraging the killings of innocent people in Kashmir and elsewhere.

This is the second successive year that the government has denied permission to the Indian cricket team to play Pakistan in Toronto.
